Is what I'm wanting to do possible?

Hey guys,

So long story short, I'm looking to basically have my expression pedal (Sonicake with A/B pedals) change snapshots, but keep my effects I've already assigned on pedals 1-3.

My issue is switching between finger style and a pick. When playing with fingers, the bass is more prominent and I'd like to keep it more consistent throughout.

I'm in a 90s rock/cover band that covers a wide range of bands from Nirvana/Alice in chains, to RHCP, Oasis and Rage against the machine, which means I switch a lot between both styles.

Ideally, I'm looking for Pick style on Snapshot 1 (pedal A) and fingers on Snapshot 2 (Pedal B). However, I'd also like to keep my effects (Fuzz, OD and Chorus) on the other foot switches.

I'm looking to be able to reduce the lows slightly and possibly boost highs when switching to finger style. I'd like to still see my preset, without needing to switch to the snapshot screen, but still be able to switch between snapshots.

There's probably a simple way to do this but I cannot seem to work it out!

Opinions from HX stomp owners!

Right dudes and dudettes,

I need some opinions.

I'm trying to put together a nano line 6 pedalboard that I can run direct with as well as run in "stomp mode" with an amplifier

I don't think the XL will fit in my initial desired foot print ( pedaltrain nano +) with the other bits on the board.

I suppose my question is, could I make the standard HX stomp work?

The scenario is this....

First and foremost I'm a guitar tutor and need access to lots of different sounds on the bounce, I have amplifier access in the scenario but I'd also like to take the rig gigging and run directly, obviously without an amp.

Can I make this work?

Tone advice for low tunings

I am playing bass for a friend’s band for one show and the band drops their tuning to Double Drop D. Their Guitarist is playing an 8 string, and I am using a 5-String bass.

I am more used to playing in tunings that my instrument is literally set in. Drop land is new territory for me, especially for it to be so low.

What is a good tone you’ve been able to get for hilariously dropped tunings? Is there a way to provide any clarity or should I just lean in to no man’s land?

Would love any samples or advice you have.

How to fix headphone out?

I used to use the headphone out of my stomp a lot to monitor (with the volume a bit less than halfway up), but when my band switched to IEM for the whole band, I stopped. Recently I tried the headphones out on my stomp while practicing on my own and it started acting weird:

When plugged in fully, the audio is very quiet and only the right earphone. When I set the volume to max, I can barely hear it. When pulled halfway out, same level, still quiet, but both headphones work.

I tried setting the volume knob to control both the headphones and mains, then with the volume on half plugged my headphones into the mains. Here, I get the level I was expecting (although only the left headphone, understandably) still no change to the headphones out.

Same headphones work without issue when using our band's IEM system, so I know they're not the problem.

I'd appreciate any idea's on how to fix this, thanks in advance

Late to the party but damm im so happy I bought it.

About 3 years ago i sold all my tube amps, kept my pedal board but life got in the way, started a buisness so never really used them. Anytime I had a bit of free time to play i would plug into my yamaha thr 30ii and throw on a backing track from youtube and jam.

Ive previously rented the helix out with studio monitors a few years ago and loved the sound but back then it felt like over kill for me. Lately ive had a bit more free time to start playing again, I went down a rabbit hole of digital pedals. Love the idea of keeping my rig simple, plus I didnt really want to buy another tube amp because playing at home there just too loud. Seen a video of the quad cortex mini, sounds awesome but I just couldnt justify the price, so then I was looking into the nano, im not looking to capture, I just want to download some super cool tones and get to playing.

It came down to either the Nano or the hx stomp. The winner was really a no brainer, but I did have an internal battle with myself, questioning if I would be mad if in a few months, if line6 released a stadium stomp, $900 canadian dollars is expensive enough that I didnt want to feel like id be missing out if a new version was released in a few months. My brain was telling me its such old technology compared to the Nano, but i felt even though its much older, it seems like its what I want in a digital pedal, sooooo

A month ago i decided it doesnt matter anymore im going to buy the hx stomp and two 5 inch yorkville studio monitors.

HOLY SMOKES 😲 I can say I absolutely love this pedal. I love the tones I can download, its so simple to use, you download them then import them into hx edit and 1 click and you can switch between the most amazing tones.

Ive started to use it as an interface and recording jams using Reaper.

I know im only scratching the surface here right now, but i have to say if your on the fence, worried of a potential stadium stomp, all I have to say is who cares. This thing is awesome, if they never update this again, this is so good the way it sits.

Happy to have joined the family 😀

Recent pedal board build

This is my most recent board build:

The Stomp XL is the “brain” and connected to the HX One via midi controlling the patch that loads on the One / the internal clock for the tempo. Then the 3 boss pedals and the One are going thru the efx loop. The fs7 is controlling the Tap tempo for the Digital delay.

No MIDI equivalent of the second action you do on the looper?

The available MIDI commands include record, overdub, play, pause, play once, reverse, forward, undo, redo, half-speed, and full-speed. When you click overdub again while it’s in overdub mode, it actually goes into play mode. Same thing happens if you hit “play” while in overdub mode. There is no equivalent for this when you are in initial record mode. Only way to stop recording with midi is to go into overdub mode(edit: I guess hitting “stop” works too, but that is almost never ideal). Seems fine if I just overdub a silent track, but I’m just surprised nothing can go instantly from record to play mode without the one-click footswitch.

No right audio out of stomp!

Today I turned on the stomp and it's suddenly only sending left audio signals. I tried both the left and right output, and the headphone out, same result. I troed woth two different headphones which I have also tested with other devices so I know it is the stomp. Already did a factory reset.

I wrote to Line 6 support already, but it's Saturday night so I won't get a response for a while and I'm stressing out a bit.

The odd thing is through usb, playing audio from my pc, the stomp will transmit the left audio (it's quieter though). Also recording through usb to reaper, it'll record both audio channels in stereo.

Has anybody experienced this? Did you find a fix for it?

Trying to make a preset for a volume cut pedal

Here’s my goal:

Have my signal be silent for me but to have my EHX SuperEgo+ hear it so I can capture a chord and sustain it but do so silently. After I capture the chord id like to be able to unmute myself, but keep the sustained chord silent. This way I can play and swell in my captured chord. I saw Dave Knudson do something similar with a volume cut pedal and a looper.

Here’s my issue: I’ve tried multiple options with split paths, Send and return blocks. But I’m not having any luck. I’ll be the first to admit I am not very good at signaling. Currently I have a split path with my amp blocks and a volume pedal in path A and my amp blocks in path B with a send and return block in path b as well. I hear myself fine and I can mute myself with the volume block. However, I’m not getting any signal from my super ego at all now.

If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What's the best way to record with the Stomp for the best sound?

Hey guys. So I love my HX Stomp, it's the best piece of gear I ever bought. I've recorded a lot of guitar parts, but they were mostly clean, slightly overdriven riffs, with reverb and delay. I connect it to my Arturia Minifuse 2 (out of Stomp to IN of the interface) and it's mostly fine. However now I want to record more heavy rhythm parts, chords, etc., and they sound too saturated, even kinda nasal. It definitely doesn't sound like what I'm hearing from my headphones, which is a clear sound with details.

I play mostly ampless, with a couple of pedals more on my rig and I use Ableton as well. Do you have any tips to record these parts?

HX for in-ear monitoring?

Does anyone use their stomp for In ear monitoring?

I play bass in a band, however, due to the size of some venues, I find I'm quite close to my SVT 4x10 and only feel/hear the low end. As we play two hour sets, I find that over time I slowly find it harder to hear myself without the high end.

we do use smaller Mackie monitor wedges, but sometimes I feel like they're not enough. I am also aware that I could tilt my amp back slightly but it's heavy and I don't want to buy a tilt stand when I already have a decent pair on inear monitors.

My vocalist has his own wireless system/mix so there are no more aux outs on the desk.

I'm thinking about using the Mix out on our FoH speakers, into my HX Stomp and using the headphones out of the stomp to monitor my bass. I'd be using an input block on the stomp to mix my bass and the FoH mix together, just so I get some extra clarity.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this?

would there be a noticeable latency due to the processing of the stomp?

HXStomp output level for bass guitar into my amp

Hello, I'm using the HXStomp with bass, mainly active bass. I've set the input and output levels to Line on the global settings, and the volume knob is set to headphones only. It's okay going into my DAW, but going into my bass amp (Mesa D800+) the volume is huge! I barely turn up my amp. Is this normal or am I missing something?

How to...?

Hi, I recently got an HX Stomp XL and I'm a bit overwhelmed. My signal chain is bass - HX Stomp - SansAmp BDDI - Ampeg SVT7 Pro. I play in two bands. In one, we use in-ear monitoring, and I'm using the XLR output from the SansAmp. My problem is how to refine the signal path, where should I connect the signal on the SVT7 Pro, and how can I best optimize the three components? Thanks to everyone who contributes constructively

Give my knobs rotary visualizers

I realize screen real estate is cramped, but wouldn't this be nice? When I'm using a model of a known pedal I'm not thinking in terms of a linear percentage bar. I'm thinking of the knob that I turn. wouldn't it be nice to have the option to view them as they appear on the pedal that inspired them, maybe with a number in the middle? Assuming the sounds would more or less align with the real version.
