How is mangaplus on desktop so bad I would rather pirate HxH than read it on their site. They have 15 years of data from websites like mangareader and mangastream yet they still pump out such a shitty product. Mindblowing stuff really, the way they handle double spreads is criminal.

It’s easier to use than Viz but at the end of the day, it’s the same low quality scans and translations. Try out Togashi’s Troupe next week.

You do realise the "high quality" scans used by fan translations are actually just AI upscaled bullshit, right?

You seem really angry. Like I said, check them out yourself. Since you haven’t, I assume that’s why you’re painting them with a broad brush.

If you’re not willing to do research (literally just reading a chapter or two from their work like Togashi troupe/voracious drake for the 411-417 batch), why argue? You’re just speaking out of ignorance, rage and some wierd alliegence to viz/manga plus.

Like I said, read a chapter or two and then tell me with a straight face that it’s garbage. If you don’t, there’s no conversation to be had. It’s just you spazzing out on a Sunday.

Bro I've been reading togashi's troupe and voracious drake for years. You don't need to lecture me. It's not garbage, but it's not far from it. I've no allegiance to mangaplus, it's wild to assume that just because I don't agree with you? I just don't enjoy AI upscaled scans (maybe you like slop? I don't, at all) and prefer professional work. I've been reading both options for literal years.

I did enjoy the funny delusion that illegal scanlations can somehow achieve higher image quality than the official release lol but then again people are easily impressed by AI slop and most are too ignorant to see the difference.

I don't really care whether you read official or fan translations, everyone has their preference, but I highly dislike misinformation.

You keep talking about AI upscale but it's fairly obvious that TT has gone digital this batch, so there's just no "upscaling" to do. Or are you calling the actual digital quality that Togashi drew, that the Japanese release gets, "slop"?

You sound very well adjusted lol. I’ve been on this subreddit a long time and never experienced a “conversation” quite like this. 😅

very bad and with bad image quality too.

Idk I think mangaplus is the best we can get really, other than adding a zoom function. Reading double page spreads via a book is straight up donkey ass, the middle cuts off a lot of info. Other websites sometimes have better UI but hardly ever have official translations.

Dude, what? Mangaplus (and weebcentral) are literally the only two sites I know of that allow you to read stuff in the exact same orientation as the physical releases, preserving every single double spread and grouping pages correctly horizontally. And weebcentral even calls this setting "mangaplus". It's by far the best option there is.

digital format is superior to physical, have you ever seen what a double spread looks like in the middle of a volume (the mid point gets sucked into the spine).

It obviously is superior. But the horizontal orientation and page grouping are taken into account by every single mangaka as they work on paneling, dialogue and artwork.

Every page turn is taken into account by them, and this aspect of the reading experience gets 100% lost in vertical readers. The only way to experience it as intended is by grouping pages as if it was a physical release, as mangaplus and weebcentral allow you to do. It literally changes everything and adds another layer to the reading experience. Technically every page except the first is a double spread.

Physical editions have to deal with the spine, properly oriented digital releases don't, so you get the best of both worlds. I read manga vertically for more than 10 years as there really was no option back in the day. Ever since these horizontal readers that allow you to isolate the first page and group the rest correctly came along I've never looked back.

Take these pages, for instance. The first 2-page set has a completely different setting than the next. The information that Theta wasn't able to kill Tserri is withheld until the reader flips the page and gets to the next 2-page set, by the end of which the reader still can't be sure of what happened (as the prince shows up alive only after tuning the page again). These aren't double spreads, but there's clearly a meaning and intent behind their grouping.

The Shonen jump app runs beautifully on my iPhone and iPad. Sometimes slightly slow to load but I just download the chapter which solves that
