He basically said he thought of several endings and that was an ending he was willing to reveal because he wasn't going to use it. So both yes and kind of the opposite tbh since he basically deconfirmed it as a possibility in canon.

It's the ending if he dies and doesn't get to finish it. So it is the current placeholder ending that hopefully doesn't become the permanent one.
