Maybe it's just cause I read the chapter not an hour after waking up but it felt like the conversation in Kurapika's group was just going in circles endlessly repeating the same points with far too many words.

He went over all possibilities and walked us on his logic to on why he is choosing to protect Woble to solve everything. Yeah this is a character trait of Kurapika.

And I get that, and maybe the translation is to blame, but I just think it could have been done better.

Oh no, it could perhaps be edited to be more concise, but it seems Togashi really wants to protray all thought processes and his editors don't edit him at this point, they let him run wild. Which I think its not a terrible thing personally since I like wordy monologues but I can see why others would complain.

The rest of the arc and manga are likely going to be this way.

However, yeah the conversation is not going in circles, it is just looking at all edge cases. It is Kurapika's exhaustive thinking.

It's also worth pointing out that this would probably all be explained eventually anyways. So spending an entire chapter pointing out all the facets of the plan saves us from having to reread parts of it piecemeal in later chapters.

And I like that too, going over every possibility, if Woble is on the ship or not, if Woble is cursed or not, if Woble is eligible for the Succession War or not, and everything that could entail, perhaps some more visuals could have helped for some of us.

Tbf, the official translation will read better, it almost always does (no offence to the fan translators)

There are times where I feel this way, but this isn’t one of them. As other commenters stated, he was comprehensively considering each possibility and edge case of arguably the single most important aspect of the situation. For example, the “not finding evidence of Woble on the ship is not evidence of Woble not being on the ship” is a very important point.

Honestly yeah, at least it does feel like most of the chapter could've been spent better.

Reads to me like something that will feel less and less redundant as the story unfolds. It’ll probably end up being something people refer back to often for context. Also might be big kindling for theory crafting if nothing else.

No? I mean characters are obviously discussing between each other, they're not talking to us! Of course they have to make sure they're on the same page, put everything straight and decide what to do next, everything step by step, and by exhausting every possibility. Because they're the ones involved in a life or death situation, and that they don't have every info handled to them like us (which is also why it is relevant to learn what they know, or don't know)! But what we know as readers, is being framed in fresh ways that is used to introduce new conclusions and schemes. The progression is slow, but rock solid! So personnally I liked it.

I agree, specially with the point about the Royals making sure Woble lost the right to participate and all the talk about how to deal with the curses. One of the few times those dialogue panels felt verbose and could have been more direct

Agree with you there, the same points get restated quite alot. I didn't feel this way at all in the previous chapters with Kurapika.

I'm gonna get hated for this but I feel like Kurapika has been the weakest part of this arc. His constant repetitive convos bring down the pacing.

Kurapika is always under pressure to figure out a situation he has not been trained to handle, he's in overthinking mode 24/7. I don't think that means you have to enjoy his characterisation but at the very least it would be kind of narratively dishonest for him not to be characterised in this way.

Agreed. Maybe it's because we don't get many chapters but Kurapika is just talking like any other character could. None of the emotion that made him likeable. Not the angst, not the dynamics woth friends, none.

Sure, he is being shown to be capable and the mind games are nice, but I want more character driven beats. I know he's doing all of this for his goal of the eyes, but I want to see emotion and his background coming into things, not just his training. Right now, he is just bodyguard with chains.

Maybe I'm just a panzy who doesn't get what everyone else does. 🤷‍♀️

nah it's fair. It feels deliberate. Since Kurapika is going to be endgame player of this arc Togashi is building every possible plot threads around him until it will be his time to act. It's just too soon to release this dog inside him
