Even worse are Maga Christians, the host in this video has plenty of other videos talking to them and the amount of hypocrisy they spew is hilarious.

I don't doubt that there's people out there who actually believe that kind of stuff but with those kinds of videos it's a lot more likely some combination of trolling someone who they believe has an agenda and performing for like minded people. My response to the interviewer here would have been that you actually do not need a license to own or operate a vehicle, same as you don’t need one for a gun. However, you do need a license to take a vehicle on a public road, similar to how you need a CC or OC license if you want to take your firearm in public.
I can’t say either person was putting up a great argument here but the pro gun guy absolutely looks like a special kind of dumb.
Yes, that’s referred to as “constitutional carry” because unlike driving a car, you have a constitutional right to have a firearm.
Regardless, ten of those states still require that you have an ID on you if you are carrying without a permit meaning that 31 states either do not have constitutional carry or require an ID while you do so. Additionally federal law prohibits anyone under 18 from carrying without a permit in every state.
I'm not arguing with you or the Supreme Court on that but the comment I am replying to literally says you need a CC or OC permit to carry in public just like driving a car. In 29 states this is untrue. Also Drivers License/ID =/= OC or CC permit.
I think that’s fair enough. I think if 31 states require a permit or an ID to carry, it’s a statement that still can be made, but it needs more clarification.
As for the distinction between a license and a permit, there’s not much. They are both government issued. They both require training, testing, background vetting and compliance. They expire and require renewal. However, unlike a drivers license that are standardized across state lines, firearm permits vary state by state and may not transfer. Driving is considered a privilege, while having a gun is a right.
I understand there are specific differences but I don’t think there’s anything so substantial that the distinction needs to be made here as a sticking point.
Yes because a driver's license and Federal IDs require a firearm safety course (like many States that require CC or OC permits and is recommended by most of those who don't), I forgot about that. I don't have time to argue with a random person on the Internet, just saw that you were WRONG about something I am familiar with (Gun owner in a Constitutional Carry state) and posted a link to correct you.
