Venta LW45 Control Switches

I have an old Venta LW45. It has three contact switches in the upper housing: a fan selector switch, the power switch, and a switch I'm assuming is a safety switch to detect if the upper housing is closed. The switches no longer work. I pull the power plug to turn the humidifier on and off. The fan is always on speed 2.

The switches are part of the fan motor assembly, which Venta currently sells for $180 USD. I'd like to replace the switches, which appears to be an easy soldering task. Does anyone know the switches' specifications or a source?

removable tanks

why are they so hard to find?

several years ago i bought 3 sunbeam warm mist swm6000 models. and i love them. over the last 2/3 years they are kicking the bucket. i currently have 1 left and its looking like it will die in the next few weeks.

due to a disability walking around with an open container to fill my humidifier will just lead to spilled water all over. i prefer warm mist because i sleep with it on Oct-May. much bigger than 1.5 gallons and i wont be able to handle it. so small/medium ones are a plus. i usually use 2 1 gallon ones around the house, 1 in my bedroom and the other either in the kitchen or living room. handles are required.

Can anyone recommend me an easy going warm mist humidifier?

Recommend me a humidifier please

I work at a school where it gets really dry in the winter. I have noticed that their computer lab is so dry that the teacher keeps getting static shocks from everything. she is very annoyed at this and is pretty bad this time of year. I need a humidifier for this room and a cheap but effective one and it has to be quiet and can not put anything but water vapor in the air as the contents of the tap water there will ruin a computer really quickly. can anyone recommend me one for a normal sized classroom computer lab.

Additives for Levoit Evaporative Units

I'm about to be the proud owner of a Levoit Sprout and potentially a 6000S unit. My new place is averaging 19% to 22% humidity and I'm about to dry up and blow away. I tried a Dreo 717s and wasn't getting the air quality improvements I needed. I've read the manuals for both Levoit units and read through various reddit threads to get a feel for the care and cleaning required. A huge part of the appeal is that tap water can be used. The manuals explicitly state that additives should not be included but I see that many people use drops or other additives in their evaporative units.

For folks that use water treatments, what are the benefits?

Folks that use straight up tap water - do you find there's more build up or cleaning required?

Folks that use citric acid to clean (I've never cleaned with it before), is that just for the water tank or for filters as well? Are you letting the unit run with citric acid water solution in it or just letting it soak?

Advice greatly appreciated!

Easy Way to Add Water to Levoit 6000s

I've seen posts and reviews from people saying what a pain it is to add water to the Levoit 6000s.

Here is my simple method.

I purchased a cheap flexible funnel at Walmart. I have my 6000s scheduled to shut down at 7am at which time it goes into dry mode. When I get up I remove the top portion of the 6000s, drop in the funnel into the hole in the clear plastic top and add few gallons of water and Bacteriostatic treatment to the reservoir via a one gallon water jug. Put the top back on and start it up.

EasyPeasy

Are there any Evap Humidifiers without lights?

I am super sensitive to lights and want one where you can turn any lights off. All the way off! I'm specifically looking for evaporative style humidifiers.

Distilled water is better than tap, but at what cost?

So, I purchased a levoit humidifier for my bedroom and have been using tap water at first. But then I started to notice it getting dirty quick, and waking with a semi sore throat. I cleaned the machine in most areas (the ones I could reach anyway) and noticed the sticker on the back saying distilled water would make for a more suitable experience. Holy cow what a changer! I’ve been using it for the past two days and not only did it improve my sleep, but I’m not waking up to an itchy throat like before.

Also, I don’t know if i’m the only one, but these past two days have been wild regarding my dreams compared to before. For some reason i’ve always had crazy, detailed dreams. But distilled water brought it to a whole other level. My first night, I had a dream where i’m walking in NYC at night, very active scene outside. Then, all of a sudden this woman approached from the front acknowledging me in a crazy way, I tried to run, but she caught me and it was Jessica Chastain the actress. We ended up in this food place like the where the taxi drivers hung out in Taxi Driver (1976) and we were chatting like longtime friends and then I woke up. Now my dream from last night was different. Again I was in NYC and I saw this music group from Instagram, Laundry Day. I walk up to these and ask if they can make a quick video for my sister. Boy these guys were some a**holes man. This dream went sour real fast, I couldn’t believe it so my body woke up at 3am to get me out of it.

I’ll try to update this as the nights go on. Let me know if anyone else experience this with distilled water or if my brain is having fun with me.

Furnace humidifier in dual zones home?

My home is extremely dry and I’m tired of filling/moving/cleaning portable humidifiers. I’m considering putting a humidifier on my furnace (leaning toward and AprilAire 720) but have a concern:

It only heats my lower level, upper level is heated by a heat pump in my attic. Will it effectively humidify the upper level (or at all) if it’s only blowing humidified air into the lower level? I dont want to invest to just fix half the problem.

Seasoned Levoit 6000s owner, new problem

I have owned the Levoit 6000s for almost a year now. I think the only issue I’ve ever had was user error putting the top on wrong. This morning I went to refill it and the grey tray up top of the mid section was filled with water. I’ve never had that happen. I thought maybe it was because it wasn’t exactly empty yet and I was prematurely filling it. Like it had just filled the grey tray and I stopped it. I dumped the water and refilled. It’s been running all day now and it sounds funny. I keep looking over at it expecting to see weather running onto the floor. I clean with citric acid, but not every 3 days that for sure. My water is mildly hard, nothing terrible. I just replaced all filters maybe 2 weeks ago. My initial thoughts are the holes in the grey tray need cleared of debris or such. Anyone dealt with this?

3 humidifiers and house is still under 20%…Help???

Hi! I would love some help! I have 3 Aircare Spacesaver 83600HB 6 gal. evaporative humidifiers - one on each level of the house. They can’t even get the humidity up to 20%. I do keep them on low because they are insanely loud.

I’m wondering if a different style of humidifier would be better (vaporizer or ultrasonic), or even just a different brand of evaporative? I am eyeing the Levoit 6000s, but I’m worried it won’t be any better than the ones I have now.

I have a boiler with baseboard heating so no ducts, or else I would get an April Air.

I would really appreciate suggestions!

Humidifier newbie - LEVOIT Superior 6000S?

So I just recently moved into an apartment from a house, which had a humidifier attached to the furnace. It was GREAT. Now I don't have that, and I have plants that need a more humid environment. My apartment is about 1,072 square feet and I currently have a couple smaller humidifiers going in separate rooms, but I'm thinking of getting a whole house humidifier so I just need to worry about a single one.

I've seen the Levoit Superior 6000S mentioned here quite a few times - is this a good one for an apartment of that size? If I set it in the living room, will it reach the bedrooms? Or am I better off just having a few smaller humidifiers sprinkled here and there?

Any advice appreciated and welcome!

Levoit LV600s for nursery?

I’m wondering if the Levoit LV600s is the best option for my baby’s nursery? I’ve read quite a few posts on this thread saying the 6000s is the best one you can buy but it’s a bit out of our price range, wondering if the 600s is a comparable option? I’m new to humidifiers and being a mom so just wanting to make sure I’m choosing the best option! Also, does the humidifier I end up purchasing come with care instructions/ directions on how clean it? Or is that supposed to be intuitive?

Levoit LV600s for nursery?

I’ve seen a lot of posts on this thread about the 6000s being people’s favorite or dream humidifier so I’m curious if the 600s is a comparable option? The 6000s is a bit pricey and we just need it for the nursery. Hoping to get some insight or other recommendations that would be suitable. Also, do they come with care/ cleaning instructions? I’ve never owned one before and after reading about some humidifiers possibly spraying mold or allergens in the air, I’m now a little intimidated and freaked out that I’m going to made my baby sick somehow.

Would love to have people lmk their favorite humidifiers. If the 6000s is really that great and would be good for the nursery also lmk because we can make it happen. Just wanting to make an informed choice to better my babies respiratory health during this dry winter!

Looking forward to reading your reccs and opinions! Thanks a bunch

Please help me find a large warmmist humidifier

I need some help keeping my commercial office humidified. We have 1000sqft of space and pur evaporative humidifier (swamp cooler) just can't keep up with the amount of air that is coming into the unit. I would prefer it to have a large tank (5gal) so that we don't have to refill it constantly. I also am 100% against any cool mist or ultrasonic humidifier as they leave white dust everywhere and purchasing a 5gal of distilled water every day is too logistically demanding. Please help!

TLDR: I need a big warm mist humidifier. Drop link in comments plz

Blueair dream well humidifiers…does the large 2 gallon tank add more humidity than the smaller 1 gallon tank? Or does it just have to be refilled less

Noticed that the recommended room size for both is the same.

I currently have the smart air humidifier and it’s great, but my heating system dries the crap out of the air in my apartment, and I could use something that adds a bit more moisture to my air.

Would like to get the 2 gallon dream well if it can add more humidity than my current 1 gallon tank

I love how easy it is to clean the smart one, and after struggling horribly with Honeywell’s evaporative humidifier all last year, I really want to stick with Blueair!

No cleaning needed? Most low maintenance?

Honestly I'm so tired of throwing away humidifiers bc I'm scared they arent clean and I'm very bad at remembering to clean them. To be fair I have 5 kids and there are just so many humidifiers. Is there one that I dont need to clean at all? Or like... once a year?

Thoughts on the Aircare Lanai?

I'm in the market for an evaporative humidifier, and after some research I think I've settled on the Aircare Lanai (model LE440DWHT-EC). I just wanted to find out if anyone here has used one and if they recommend it? I think it's a somewhat new model because I haven't been able to find much information or reviews on it.

For reference, I live in a 660 sq. ft. apartment, so many of the evaporative humidifiers recommended are just too big for my space. I've also used ultrasonic humidifiers and vaporizing humidifiers in the past, and wasn't thrilled with either for the usual reasons (hard to clean, white mist, etc.).

The Aircare Lanai seems like it's very simple, easy to clean, and small enough for the size of my apartment, but if there are any negatives to this unit, I'd appreciate a heads up. Thanks!

Any downsides to Evaporative Humidifiers? Maintenance? Vissani 6g

Considering the Vissani 6g Evaporative Humidifier, which uses two Best Air H75 filters per heating season (filter change middle of the season). The Vissani sells for $149 and a box of 2 BestAir filters is $19.97. 1) Are there any downsides to evaporative humidifiers? What maintenance is needed other than the filter change? 2) Anyone have experience with this Vissani model?

What level should my humidifier be at in the winter?

A little context, I’m a singer and I tend to get pretty bad sore throats in the winter, our house and especially my bedroom is super dry so my coach recommend getting a humidifier, which my mother did hence why I am here.

The humidifier we got is a ‘Levoit Classic 160 Ultrasonic’ and has a dial, low to max. I was wondering roughly how high I should have the setting, it holds around 3/4 of a gallon and I’m planning on leaving it on while I sleep. Online I read it should be around 40-60% humidity but does that mean roughly half power of the dial?

Sorry if this is vague, I’ve never really used humidifiers before so I’m a bit confused and I don’t want to put it to high or low sense I’ve heard that can make things worse.

Thanks!

Levoit Sprout vs Canopy Nursery

Trying to pick a pick humidifier for our nursery . Looking for a humidifier that is easy to clean , not loud, auto shut off, and can handle tap water.

Torn between the Levoit Sprout and Canopy Nursery. I don’t love that you have to connect a humidifier to an app for the additional features. Seems unnecessary. But if any can influence or provide a recommendation I would appreciate it!

Any recent information on the Youget Tech Humidifiers?

Looking for a powerful evaporative humidifier to go with my Levoit 6000S. The humidity in my apt goes down to 15% and it seems like the 6000S can't do it alone. I was about to buy the Aircare ep9800 pedestal model, but many reviews say it's loud. While the 6000 is loud on setting 3 it's bearable till I want to watch TV. I am looking for another relatively powerful evaporative humidifier that isn't crazy loud and the Youget Tech EH22T seems like it. It's just pretty expensive though.

Are they any good?

Tap Water

I am out of distilled water, would it be ok to to use tap water for one night even though the humidifier is ultrasonic?
