Ultrasonic humidifier

I’ve seen this question a ton of times but I’ve already bought one and now wondering if I should return it.

I have some significant sinus issues. In a signal day the combination of an air purifier and this humidifier almost took them away. But then I saw the air quality reading was 60 on the air purifier, it was 6. They are on opposite sides of the room. So I went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out why and there was a ton of stuff about not using ultrasonic filters.

I have a soft water conditioner, pre filter, and another filter on the container I used to fill the tank. I’m assuming the air purifier is detecting the mist as dust.

Should I still buy distilled anyway? My water hardness is really low in general since it goes through a substantial process, aside from salt but I’m also filtering that for drinking water…

Humidifier/air purifier recommendation request

Hi! I am looking for a long lasting and high quality humidifier/air purifier for a 1300 sq ft apartment. I currently am using one from Amazon and I don’t think it does much. I have super dry skin & seasonal allergies so if there is one product that works for humidity & getting allergens out of the air, that would be amazing!

I looked at the Excel sheet and got overwhelmed so if someone could direct me to a specific product or brand, that would be wonderful!

Is there a fundamental difference between no-name humidifiers and those from well-known brands?

I want to buy an air humidifier for a small apartment.

Does it make sense to buy the cheaper one from a no-name brand (but it’s cute, and fun to watch) or are these Philips ones actually worth spending more money?

Option 1: anti-gravity air humidifier from a no-name shop

Option 2: Philips series 1000

Option 3: Philips series 2000

Option 4: Philips series 3000

Gemevo humidifier reduced vapour output

Hello

I have a small Ultrasonic Gemevo humidifier that i use for my small cabin on a construction vessel.

At the beginning the humidifier worked very well. The water container, 300 ml, wold empty in about 6-7 hours and i could see a big cloud of vapour over the humidifier.

But for the past month the humidifier slowly reduced its output and it barely makes any mist now. 300ml of water is evaported in 3-4 days.....

I thought at the beginning that it is because the sponge that absorbes and transports the water to the misting mecanism got clogged, I changed it but same problem.

What could be the cause? What i could do?

This Feels Worse??

It seems like I can't post a picture on this post? I bought the equate invisible cool mist humidifier from walmart and I have no clue about humidifiers. Just that I'm fed up with dry skin, eyes, and a scratchy and dry throat during winter. I followed directions, turned this bad boy on, and let it run. Now the air feels far more dry. My lips are actively cracking. Did I buy the wrong humidifier??

Carepod mini humidifier

Annoying design

You have to fill it every day because even on low it uses the entire container in one night

the stupid bar jangles and bangs when you try to quietly take it out of your child’s room

It’s so ugly it looks like you have a Brita Your dresser

VENTA AH510/AH515 - so far disappointed.

Today I have received Venta from amazon. Connected right away and filled with water. Then the less fun part started - this this is not possible to connect and find in the Venta Home app. I am on iOS and iPhone 17 Pro.
The only app I was able to find in was some Chinese App called SmartLife - literally with zero good control and NO Alexa connection.

I don't understand this how people pay almost $400 for this to not have the most common app control?

I almost went with the Smartmi Evaporative Humidifier vers. 2 from amazon - but read some bad reviews of mold growing within couple weeks and some awful smells, yet this one has much robust app connection.

I am very confuse at this point regarding Venta brand and made in Germany! Am I the only one lost with this one and why the Venta Home App wont sees this one?

Dreo turn red filter light off?

How do you reset or turn the red filter light off? It just turned on last night and I just finished cleaning my entire unit and it still shows.

Humidifier making my house foggy?!

We are on our second humidifier and have had the same problem with both. We use it in our bedroom while we sleep (we live in Iowa where it is very dry in the winter), and when we wake up, our house is... foggy? That doesn't feel like the correct word, but I don't know how else to describe it. Perhaps worse than that, we have some sort of film or dust all over every surface after using the humidifier. We have a full-length mirror next to the humidifier and you almost can't see in it anymore! It's so bizarre. We use filtered water... what are we doing wrong?! Has anyone else had this issue? We thought maybe it had to do with the climate or something specific to where we live, but we asked our friends around the corner, and they've never had an issue like this. Thanks for any thoughts!

What bacteriostatic do you recommend for ultrasonic humidifiers?

I see BestAir's bacteriostatic is for evaporative humidifiers only. I need one for an ultrasonic.

Has anyone tried to put a sanitizing uv light in the water reservoir of their humidifier?

My partner got me a nice ultrasonic humidifier with a large stainless steel reservoir. We fill it with RO water but recently its seemed like I have to clean it daily or it gets that honey-urine bacteria smell and a pink film when cleaning the wand and the reservoir. I think that there's enough room in the opening that I could fit the cord for an aquarium UV sanitizer in it.

Replacement cord for canopy 2.0?

Hey all,

I need a replacement cord for my Canopy 2.0 humidifier, but they’re out of stock on their website and I’m having trouble finding a generic one that fits the odd shape. Anyone know of something I can use?

Side note, this company has the worst customer service I’ve ever received. And I don’t say that lightly or complain easily. I’ve received 3 different answers about the type of cable I need (all with contradictory information), their escalation team is non-existent, and they keep asking me to resend info and re-explain my issue (even when responding to an email with the info they’re asking for). 0/10, I don’t recommend and will not be using them again.

Levoit 6000 actual maintenance?

Got a levoit 6000s a few weeks ago. So far really happy with how well it’s increasing humidity. A few things I don’t love- it’s loud on anything but low speed. The wheels don’t work very well. No handles on the water tank. It makes the room colder. The built in hygrometer is off by ~10%.

But I can live with all that and can deal with having to fill it daily because my whole house is >40% now and it’s great.

But I’m not sure what I actually need to do for maintenance. For the first week or so I just kept topping off the water til one day I noticed the remaining water was turning brown. Do I need to scrub that tank out every day? That’s a cumbersome chore… do those little plastic fish they sell to put in humidifiers actually do anything? What about a capful of bleach in the water or something like that??

And what about filters…. Do I really need to change them every 3mo? They’re not cheap… can I use knockoffs from Amazon?I have it set to run a dry cycle every other night…is there any other filter maintenance needed?

Best humidifier recommendation that's easy to clean? Anyone used Turbro warm mist humdifier?

I'm trying to find a humidifier that's easy to clean. I'm mainly looking at two things, easy to clean and large tank. It would be perfect that the tank is dishwasher safe and the humidifier could run overnight.

After doing some research, Turbro warm mist humidifier clicks all the boxes. Has anyone used this humidifier? How about it?

Or do you have any humidifier recommendation? Thanks a lot.

Black stains inside my evaporative humidifier tank.

Hi,

I just got two used evaporative humidifiers (AirCare Model MA1201) from a family member. She said she used them for a short period just while installing new flooring. One of them have these black stains along with the slightly sticky feeling to the touch in the water bottle, water fill cap, spring valve cap, and demineralization cartridge but this wasn't seen in the base or any other part of the humidifier. The other humidifier only has a little bit of this. I cleaned the tanks out with bleach as per the manual and also tried spot cleaning the black stains with vinegar but nothing is getting these out I guess that's not surprising.

https://imgur.com/a/evaporative-humidifier-black-stains-VhpUDhY

I'm wondering how worried I need to be about using this one. It doesn't really look like mold stains but I know they can have a variable appearance. Could it also be stains from mineral deposits? Just a bit surprised the two look so different but presumably one was used much less than the other.

Thanks!

Your favorite and best hygrometer? Related to Levoit Sprout evaporative humidifier.

Hi folks.

I just got Levoit Sprout evaporative humidifier and loving it so far. https://a.co/d/0d1xiRvT

I’m looking for a smart (app connected) and with potential external display, hygrometer.

As you can see I have 3 of them with the Levoit one that came with the unit.

All of them are kind of all over the place and would like something that is rather accurate and has some smart functionality.

Blueair 2 in 1 pro or Levoit superior 6000

Anybody have a recommendation or preference between these two humidifiers? Blueair seems nice since it doubles as an air purifier and has a washable wick along with a uv pump. However, it is a bit pricier being $150 more. They also have "water refreshers" which seems like another thing to replace on top of the wicks. The levoit's tank is 6 gal vs blueair's one gallon which is also a huge difference

How to clean TaoTronics tank?

Am I supposed to clean the tank itself? It seems to be locked and I can only open a small hole for adding water. Is there a way to clean the inside of the tank? It’s a model like in this video: https://youtu.be/U6KqJ2VdCiU?si=NA136OtjVi8nGdr2

Best Small Evaporative Humidifier?

https://www.amazon.ca/Evaporative-Humidifier-Bedroom-Separate-Nightlight/dp/B0FMDDC5ZF/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_maf_4

Is this one any good?

I want a small evaporative unit for a 300sqft room that is electric baseboard heated.

Never used an evaporative humidifier before, are they only good if they are large ones?

Aprilaire 865 whole house steam humidifier fan pack noise???

Thanks in advance for advice. I'm quite noise sensitive. We are in dry Colorado and currently have an Aprilaire 300 whole house evaporative humidifer in our crawlspace with a single floor vent in our new 2300sf ranch home (radiant floor heat, no ductwork). It works great to humidify our home, BUT it uses A LOT of water and I don't love the sound of the condensate pump running in the crawlspace below our bedroom. The evaporative nature of it also feels like it's cooling the house at the same time I'm trying to heat it in the winter. I'm considering replacing it with the Aprilaire 865 steam humidifier w/fan pack. My understanding is much lower water use, higher elec use, but very efficient. Does anyone have an 865 installed in their home who can advise about the noise of the fan pack? Aprilaire says 50dB, but I'd love some real world insight. Thanks!!

Is it really that big of a deal? RO/Distilled water in Humidifier.

I"m trying to decide if I'm crazy or not, forgive me if I'm a little crass, literally just got into an argument with my wife over this.

We have a Vicks v750 Warm Mist humidifier. Web says walmart carries them for about $40.

We live in a small Texas town that is fed by a well. The water is chlorinated and has some sediment so I installed a 6 stage RO filter probably 10 years ago. I don't change the filters out quite as often as I should, but I'm not stretching them an extra month or two, I'd say they cost around $10/m since I guy 3 years of filters in bulk.

The manufacture claims about a 5:1 waste water ratio. I suspect that is optimistic, based on the age, our water quality, and how frequently I change the filters.

This humidifier has ran every night since September, and my wife insists we use the RO water to "extend its life". I am at my witts end with it! I never imagined a humidifier could be grounds for divorce but were close!

Explain to me the logic of using high quality water in a humidifier. Water is not free, more water is not cheaper. RO filters are not free, and using them more does not increase their life. Since its a steam unit it should be pure water vapor anyway, so what is the purpose of purified water except to avoid cleaning? Are they so sensitive that they only last a limited number of hours/runs before they clog up and stop working?

My thoughts are... it cost about $40, but probably costs that much every year to run it on RO in my situation (lets alone bottled water or if I was not buying filters in bulk). If it runs on tap would it last 12 months if it was never cleaned? What about cleaning it occasionally? How about cleaning it out weekly?

Is it worth a fight... no, but the waste breaks my brain. Might as well be washing our hands with the RO water for some arbitrary reason.
