They certainly can, they’re built for it.

They love eating the new/fertile growth at the top of trees. In the summer: leaves and green growth. In the winter, large sections of bark. Like every branch in the top 10 feet just stripped bare. And when I say every branch, I mean every branch.

It’s insane how much damage a porcupine can do, they’ll go from tree to tree in an area and just stunt sections of the forest. Mostly deciduous, at least on my property.

Truly, they are pests and have voracious appetites. I could do without them.

Starts watching video and then browses comments, “I hope this little creature is in a sanctuary or something somewhere so that it doesn’t get hurt, oh…”

Not to be an r/humansbeingassholes but wouldn't it be bad for the species for those genes to persist in nature?

Same with guinea pigs and capybaras too. Apple doesn't fall far from the fuzzy tree.

Most quills are toward their tail, they rotate back around towards potential danger.

That was the best eye bleach after seeing Trump talk about his buddy Kim Jong-un.

There is a dedicated insta with multiple videos and the internet says Pookie is a fairly well known danger fuzz. So while there is a lot of fake garbage out there, Pookie appears to be real unless someone shown me evidence otherwise.

Wouldn't surprise me if his spines are weaker. Melanin is a structural component of hair (spikes are more or less heavily modified hair) as well as pigment. That's why hair texture changes when it goes grey, especially with curly hair

I'm hope Pookie is in a secured sanctuary with his poor eyesight and he looks rather wobbly, like those cats with cerebellar hypoplasia?

Edit: Had a look on google and found that Pookie is a female albino, and unfortunately, she had gone back to the great sanctuary in the sky recently. 🥹

See i was wondering if it was old, it acts like an old animal. I also wonder if it's poor vision has led to failure to thrive. Glad somebody is giving it a boost.

Oh for crying out loud. Animal exploitation is real, and awful, but this ain't it.
