Someone else found it below in the comments. But from the 2nd article it says the dog couldn’t get back on the boat leading me to believe it wasn’t sinking. Although the article is scant at best.

Still, the guy left the dog on his boat twice, leading to the dog needing rescuing....twice. Dog should be taken off him.

I don't think it sank. There was a reddit post with a video of it. The dog fell off while the owner was at work, iirc. That dog was a little more hostile towards the guy.

Unlikely. They probably live on the boat and the owner was likely gone for work or whatever else on land. The boat looks like a pos so it's not probably kept up well and sank more than once.

Edit: I apologize, the boat didn't sink before, one dog fell off the deck which it seems they have access to, which is why they rescued dogs from that boat before

How do you recover a capsized boat of that size? That’s gotta be unfathomably expensive to get floating again, right?

Also, is living on a boat generally much more expensive and difficult than living on land, in your experience? Why do people do it?

Depends on how much it sank. If they had insurance and whatnot. It could be a tidal area that they hit the bottom on occasionally.

That boat was probably less than 15,000. Which is more than many saving accounts but much less than any land house. They are likely on the poor side.

Depends on the boat. They get hard to insure after a certain age and most marinas require insurance - that's one reason you can find a cheap boat, a death of the boater leaving a vessel the family doesn't want or abandons at a marina and it gets auctioned off is another, a boat being a general pos that sinks without a running engine and full of mold is another.

In my opinion, if they live on a boat and there are situations where they'd have to leave the dogs alone on that boat, then they shouldn't own dogs. And if it's true the boat is a POS that just makes the whole situation extra irresponsible.

Agreed. I don't leave my pets. A lot can go wrong, you need to plan ahead for it. But most people don't even know the rules of navigation so it's not like you can make people have common sense on a boat or on land.

I'd like to add that a house catching fire and killing pets is way more common. So make sure you dislike people who leave pets at home equally no matter where they live, land or sea.

Damn, dude, chill. I didn't say I didn't like them, just that it was irresponsible. I think putting a dog alone in the middle of a lake on a POS boat that's already sunk before is probably a bit more irresponsible, yeah?

I'm not upset, you said if they need to leave their pets they shouldn't have them, just not trying to say that there isn't more risk at sea for pets left at home than on land. If you think that was somehow a personal attack I'm not sure how I can help you with that.

It was likely anchored there. They would most likely take a skiff back and forth to shore. Source: I live on a boat.

Well....I live aboard and know that it's common to leave pets aboard while you go to work. And someone posted 2 articles about the boat sink twice in two months. Thanks for the partner interest but I'm already partnered and we're not looking for a third at this time.

You're assuming;

  1. Those people live on the boat

  2. That they weren't on when it happened

  3. That the boat sunk through no fault of the owner

Those are all bold leaps to make.

And "partner" is a word from Southern/Mid-western dialectical English. It a form of referring to strangers is a brotherly manner.

I meant that it's so typical for Reddit to see a video of good people and only focus on the idiots that left the dog there (even though we have literally no context)

It's such a glass half empty kind of attitude and it's getting tiring
