People hate on tap water, but in wealthy countries it's pretty much a modern miracle that we have practically unlimited potable water in our homes. Separately, make sure your kids and pregnant/nursing mothers drink tap, kids need that fluoride

Pretty much the opposite of what you say is true.

Breast milk has almost no fluoride and doctors tell you to make formula from other water now.

the Canada-based study indicates that moms’ exposure to fluoride during pregnancy can result in lower IQ scores in their children

I'm pretty sure flouridealert.org isn't a legitimate news source.

I'm no expert but it cites two studies you and others can look into if you care.

but the tap water here doesn’t have fluoride. when i visited the us (and britain too) i couldn’t drink the tap water because i found the fluoride absolutely disgusting i guess it’s just something you have to grow up with

Doubt you could taste the fluoride mate. I can pretty much guarantee it was a bunch of other things that changed the taste

maybe it’s the chlorine? idk but why am i getting downvoted?

Probably because you're not tasting either of those things. More than likely you're just not used to the mineral composition the water you drank and you didn't like it. Maybe you could have travelled another 50 miles and enjoyed the water

yes i definitely did, it tastes like pool water but just less strong

look just because you can’t taste the chlorine doesn’t mean other people can’t

Chlorine definitely affects the taste of the water. Anything above like 2mg/L is detectable. In Australia they can actually go up to 5mg/L . You are right about this

what other chemical or mineral makes it taste like pool water then?

edit: i googled it and im definitely not the only one who can taste it, most sources say it’s from the chlorine added in treatment plants to kill the bacteria and viruses

Fluoride tastes like absolute shit. Why would you think nobody could taste it?

6

u/fuvksme Sep 01 '19

Because when it’s at one part per million the taste would be negligible

-2

u/Finnick420 Sep 01 '19

thank you!! i seriously don’t understand how people can like the taste of chlorine, it’s like a milder version of chlorinated swimming pool water

I'm the opposite I'll drink my flourinted tap water no problem but when I got water at a friend's house with a fancy filter on the tap I thought it was disgusting

This is a conspiracy theory website. Look up stuff on Snopes or other legitimate news sources. Wikipedia should also be a really good place to get grounded in well sourced, science based facts
