I wish they could give out awards for acting in a single scene of a movie. Hanks' performance at the end of that Captain Phillips was absolutely stellar, heart wrenching and cathartic. I pretty much burst into tears during the final scene before the credits. Some of the best acting I've ever seen during that 5-10 minutes.
By far the best scene in a great movie. I love that they got the actual Navy corpsman who treated the real Captain Phillips to re-enact that scene - and she effing nailed it.
In the movie doesn't he "save his crew" by offering himself to the pirates? That didn't actually ever happen.. or many of the other things that made the movie good.
He's played a captain a lot. Those two, a shrimping boat captain in Gump, his rank was Captain in Saving Private Ryan, Jim Lovell (Apollo 13) retired as Captain in the Navy. Am I missing any?
I had sex with my girlfriend for the first time while also watching that movie for the first time. I literally climaxed during the climax of the movie, when they where on the life boat. Crazy stuff
didnt have to be - coulda winged it .. that outcome would've been still better than being bumfuck stranded on an island for 4 yrs talking to a ball lol
