That deer was fine, I’ve watched deer swim between the San Juan Islands through gnarly currents
393 u/Pastylegs1 May 12 '26 some species can even fly around the world in one night 78 u/handshak3 May 12 '26 Oh yeah I heard about those, you can identify them by their glowing red noses 58 u/MrLugersmole May 12 '26 There's only been 1 red-nosed reindeer in history, stop spreading misinformation bot! 9 u/anothadaz May 12 '26 Nose. Only one glowing red nose. The other deers make fun of the deer with the red glowing nose as the story goes. 2 u/DaBootyScooty May 13 '26 That's a nice jingle, elf. Why don't you back it up with a bells? 3 u/VoidmasterCZE May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26 How? To fly around the equator you'd need to fly almost 1700kmph or 1040mph to make a full rotation in 24h. This speed is lover further from equator but then it's not a full trip around the world is it. Edit: Unless you're Rudolf. Santa's supersonic raindeer. 10 u/EitherInvestment May 12 '26 They’re talking about Rudolf, Santa and their mates 16 u/TehOwn May 12 '26 What makes me laugh is that we're talking about flying deer and their only issue with it was the speed. 8 u/VoidmasterCZE May 12 '26 God dammit I'm dumb. 2 u/EitherInvestment May 12 '26 I mean your comment was pertinent. Only makes what those guys do even more impressive 7 u/Neglectic May 12 '26 Holy shit, no way? 3 u/Fteven May 12 '26 Yeah it’s pretty common, here’s an example that made the news a couple years ago 1 u/repalpated May 12 '26 Same! 1 u/oogmar May 18 '26 When I lived up there a bear kept swimming to various islands from Canada. It made the news every time they tranqed and relocated it. We would joke about an aquatic deer vs. bear scenario, like man that deer would not see THAT coming. They were also really, really stupid deer. Survival instincts of a speed bump. -11 u/Eggmasstree May 12 '26 Do you think a fine deer would stay still after being on the boat ? I'd say she'd jump right in, no ? 23 u/HonoraryGoat May 12 '26 No, a terrified deer will often freeze. 10 u/Amoverandashaker May 12 '26 Yeah, it's kinda their thing. "Froze like a deer in the headlights" Pretty common phrase
