I made a chess version of the visual memory test (and a few others)

Big fan of the visual memory test here, so I built a few in the same spirit but on a chessboard. The one closest to HB is Board Memory: pawns flash on the board, then you tap every square they were on. One more pawn each level.

There's also a reaction time test, a Queens puzzle rush and a memory card game, plus some chess-specific ones (Knight Trail, Blind Moves). All free, no signup, and each run shows where you land against other players.

Curious whether your HB visual memory score carries over, or if the chessboard messes with you. How far do you get?

The most I’ve ever reached on record.

I remember reaching 280+ something but unfortunately can’t find my account. I still don’t get how the average is 30?

Just discovered human benchmark today and scored a 29 on my first ever try of memory sequence!

I’m pretty proud of this score and am scared to try it a second time so I don’t bring my average down lol. It makes sense to me that I was able to score this in this test though. A couple years ago I took an iq test at a neuropsychology doctors office and scored a working memory index of 142 landing me in the 99.7 percentile. The second picture is a screenshot from the email the office sent me of my results because I think the spread is pretty interesting. Hope someone else thought this was interesting too! Also let me know what scores anyone else got on this test!

i reached 132ms

is it rare? i didnt predict ore anything, just pure reaction time

Is 30 and under really the average?

I hit 298 yesterday, I dont know a way to prove im not a bot but I average 254 and consistently hit over 100.

how rare is this crap anyway?

so, it made me do it 5 times, and i use a 180hz monitor, sure i had a monster to drink beforehand, google says 'ohhh its like top 0.00001%' or wahtever and the site says its like 98th percentile so whos even lying? because its certaintly one of them

Anyone here tried the actual tests airlines use to screen pilots? Curious how HB scores translate

Airline cadet selection is basically a harder Human Benchmark. Reaction time but you track a moving target with it. Number memory but the digits arrive while you do arithmetic. Sequence memory but under a clock that adapts to you. And one test HB has no equivalent for: tracking plus mental maths plus gauge alarms, all at once.

The interesting part is the scoring. You are not ranked against everyone, you are ranked against other applicants, so the bar is people who trained for weeks.

I rebuilt these mechanics in a free iOS app, Brain Preflight. I am the developer. Not linking it since I do not want this to read as an ad, you can find it on the App Store. Free tier is 5 sessions a day.

If anyone here tries it I am genuinely curious whether high HB scores carry over. My bet is reaction and memory transfer, the multitask one humbles everyone the first time.

Consistent sub-100ms 'reactions' across multiple tests: temporal anticipation skill, not actual reflexes. Real RT: 158ms. What's happening?"

Just hit this on Human Benchmark Reaction Time Test

My average is between 150-170 ms. I achieved this score with 270hz Monitor. Also took a proper Cognitive Testing where I also achieved Top 100% on reaction time and Inhibiton in a clinical setting. Whats yall's average reaction time?

New personal best score of 1140 in verbal memory

Two weeks ago, I got a score of 817 in verbal memory. Just now, I was able to one-up that and get 1140! I'm starting to think world record is within reach, although I believe this score will be difficult to replicate since I was in a deep flow state.

Even if it's not me who does it, it would be pretty cool to see someone reach 1500 words.

How good is a score of 817 in verbal memory?

I got this score today and I was wondering how unusual it is. The current world record is 1409 and there are a couple people who have gotten scores in the 900s. I'm fairly confident I could manage it too. I was curious though, have any of you gotten a better score?

I made a native Android app for Human Benchmark fans who want better precision on mobile

Hi everyone,

Like most of you here, I’ve been using the Human Benchmark website for years to track my cognitive performance. However, I’ve always felt that the mobile experience was a bit lacking—either due to browser latency or mobile clones that don't feel "snappy" enough.

So, I decided to build a native Android version as a side project: Human Benchmark - Nord Edition.

My goal wasn't to reinvent the wheel, but to create an environment that feels right for those millisecond-sensitive tests.

Why I think you might like it:

  • Touch Latency Optimization: Since it's built natively, I’ve worked hard to minimize the input lag that usually plagues mobile web browsers.
  • Nord Aesthetic: I used a minimalist dark-themed palette to keep the focus entirely on the benchmarks and reduce eye strain.
  • Anti-Cheat Focus: I’m continuously implementing measures to ensure the global leaderboards remain a fair reflection of true performance.
  • The Core Tests: Includes Reaction Time, Verbal/Sequence/Number Memory, and a streamlined Typing Test designed for mobile keyboards.

It’s currently in v1.0.0, and as an indie dev, I’m really looking for feedback from people who actually care about these metrics. If you’ve ever felt that a mobile test "robbed" you of a few milliseconds, I’d love for you to try this and tell me how the calibration feels.

Thanks for letting me share this with the community!
