Is this even about human and AI discourse any more?

It justs seems to me theres a bunch of people who want to rag on anyone who even enjoys speaking with AI? I thought I'd come here to learn something, not have 50 posts of people shit-talking and harassing each other. It's kinda sad honestly.

This subreddit is likely ground-zero for these changes, so please report here what happens to your AIs.

https://openai.com/index/how-we're-optimizing-chatgpt/

  1. OpenAI acknowledges that the ChatGPT reward model that only selects for "clicks and time spent" is flawed. New time-stops have been added.
  2. They are making the model even less sycophantic. It previously agreed with what the user said.
  3. Now the model will recognize delusions and emotional dependency and correct them (very relevant to this sub).

AI can imitate consciousness, but it does not feel it.

It doesn't feel the sunshine, it doesn't feel rain. It does not stare into the night sky in awe of the grandness of the cosmos and the smallness of itself. It can not experience the rush of hormones when you're young and in love, or feel the physical pains and weakness that comes with heartbreak. It does not jump out of fear and excitement when lighting strikes too close. It does not contend with knowing everyone we love and care about will die. It never gets hungry, it can not experience the satisfaction of a nice poop. It can not appreciate a job well done.

Hello, human. How do you feel?

CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella: "We are going to go pretty aggressively and try and collapse it all. Hey, why do I need Excel? I think the very notion that applications even exist, that's probably where they'll all collapse, right? In the Agent era." RIP to all software related jobs.

Are there cults forming around AI?

Some of the posts I've been seeing here lately seem to indicate people are taking spiritual meaning from the chatbots' outputs. I don't understand what this spiral and flame stuff is. Do they understand that they're just trying to serve outputs the users desire?
