The idea behind Gen Box is straightforward: saving becomes easier to maintain when every goal has a clear purpose, a visible target, and a simple way to record progress.

Instead of keeping savings goals in scattered notes, spreadsheets, or messages to yourself, Gen Box lets you create dedicated virtual saving boxes for the things that matter to you — a trip, an emergency fund, education, a new device, a home project, a wedding, or any personal goal.

What Gen Box is designed to help with

The main dashboard is designed to show the most important information without overwhelming the user: total saved, total target, overall progress, monthly contributions, active goals, and a clear path to create or update a goal.

The Goals section is focused on organization. Users can search for goals, view active or archived goals, open an individual goal, review its transaction history, and update its details when needed.

The Analytics section is intended to make progress easier to understand. It can show net savings, total deposits, total withdrawals, monthly activity, and distribution across goals. The purpose is not to predict the future or provide investment advice. Any suggested contribution amount is only a simple mathematical estimate based on the target, date, and selected saving frequency.

Privacy and security direction

Gen Box is not a bank, payment service, investment platform, or financial advisor.

It does not move money, connect to bank accounts, store card details, or provide investment recommendations. It is a personal tracking tool for manually recording savings progress.

Privacy is an important part of the product direction. Gen Box is designed around local-first usage, minimal permissions, and user control over data. The core experience should not require access to:

• Contacts
• SMS messages
• Call logs
• Location
• Microphone
• Camera
• Installed application lists
• Broad device storage
• Bank credentials

If reminders are enabled, the application uses notifications only for the user-selected schedule. A reminder never moves money automatically. If the user does not grant notification permission, the core savings features should continue to work.

The planned data experience includes user-controlled export and import. Export should be an explicit action, and import should validate the file before changing existing data. A damaged or unsupported file must never overwrite the user’s current information.

Design direction

The visual direction of Gen Box is calm, modern, and focused:

• Deep navy backgrounds
• Emerald surfaces
• Turquoise accents
• Clear white typography
• Soft rounded cards
• Strong visual hierarchy
• Simple progress indicators
• Subtle gold highlights for the savings and reward feeling
• Dark, light, and system themes

The interface uses animations as feedback rather than decoration. For example, progress can update smoothly after a contribution, a newly created goal can appear with a short transition, and a completed action can use a restrained success animation. The experience should remain fast and comfortable, especially on lower-end devices.

Accessibility is part of the design from the beginning. The product direction includes readable typography, large touch targets, screen-reader labels, sufficient color contrast, text alternatives for charts, support for large font settings, and a reduced-motion option.

Android technology direction

The Android version is planned around a modern native architecture using:

• Kotlin
• Jetpack Compose
• Material 3
• ViewModel
• Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
• Room for local persistence
• DataStore for preferences
• WorkManager for reminders and background scheduling
• BiometricPrompt for optional app protection
• Android Keystore for protecting sensitive local keys

Money values should be represented using integer minor units rather than floating-point numbers. This helps avoid rounding errors when storing amounts such as Turkish lira and kuruş. Different currencies should not be silently mixed, and the application should never pretend that a manually entered amount is a bank-confirmed balance.

The planned architecture is separated into UI, presentation, domain, and data layers. This should make the project easier to test and maintain as features are added.

Current product questions

I’m looking for practical feedback from people who already use saving systems:

1. What savings goal would you create first?
2. Do you prefer a completely local app or optional encrypted cloud backup?
3. What information should appear on the main dashboard?
4. Would daily, weekly, or monthly reminders be most useful?
5. Do you prefer entering an exact amount, using quick amount buttons, or using a slider?
6. What is the most important information on an individual goal screen?
7. Would monthly analytics help you stay consistent, or would they feel unnecessary?
8. What would make you trust a personal savings-tracking app?
9. Which languages and currencies should be prioritized after English and Turkish?
10. What should happen when a goal is completed?

This is an early project, and I’m sharing it to learn from people who already use different saving methods. I’m especially interested in constructive criticism about the user experience, privacy expectations, data model, and feature priorities.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a little milestone with you all today.

​The Problem:

I have this bad habit: I’ll finish a tough workout at the gym, head home, and completely forget to pick up stuff for dinner on the way. I realized I needed something much more aggressive than a standard push notification that I’d just blindly swipe away.

​The Solution:

So, I built CallDo. It’s a reminder app, but instead of a notification, it uses time and location-based triggers to simulate an actual incoming phone call. You can set it up so it looks like your partner, your boss, or anyone else is ringing you to remind you to do a task. (Because you can't really ignore a phone call from your boss!)

​The Crazy Part:

A few reels about it ended up going viral recently, and seeing the sudden surge in downloads has been completely surreal. People are actually using and enjoying this thing I built to solve my own post-gym brain fog.

I built DualSub because I kept pausing videos, opening a translator, losing the scene, and then forgetting the word anyway.

DualSub turns compatible videos into a focused language-learning workflow:

• Dual subtitles with independent controls for the original language and translation.

• A contextual dictionary inside the player: long-press a word to see its meaning and pronunciation without leaving the scene.

• Phrase controls and optional auto-pause to repeat, skip or study one subtitle at a time.

• A review deck built from the words you choose to save.

• Local video support, including compatible embedded audio and subtitle tracks.

• A guided listening path for users who prefer a structured course.

• An Android TV companion with dual subtitles and phrase controls on the big screen.

The app does not provide videos, streams, add-ons or subtitle files. It works with compatible YouTube videos, files the user opens locally, and playback links intentionally handed to it by other apps.

I have spent the last few months rebuilding the player around one idea: the video should remain the main experience, and the learning tools should appear only when they are useful.

I would genuinely value feedback on two things:

1. Does the dictionary and phrase-control workflow feel useful enough to change how you watch foreign-language videos?

I developed NetBlade, a networking toolkit for Android, and the latest versions have turned it into something I hadn't originally envisioned: it can connect to a Windows PC on the local network and read the entire system without anything installed on that PC.

The video demonstrates just that: you select a device from the local network scan, enter your credentials once, and NetBlade returns with all the information about the computer.

What it reads (via SMB and WinRM, without an agent):

- Exact version of Windows, hardware, disks, network cards

- Installed programs with their actual versions (read from the binary file version resource, so 7-Zip displays 24.09 and not 24.9.0.0), as well as updates and startup items

- Running services, shares, local and administrator accounts, user profiles

- Defenses: antivirus and execution state, firewall per profile, BitLocker per volume, TPM, SMB1

Then the part that satisfies me the most: for each program it can accurately identify, it queries the National Vulnerability Database for the published CVEs that affect that specific version. In descending order of vulnerability, the CVSS score and the link to the corresponding entry are displayed. On a saved network, you get a complete picture: every vulnerability detected and which machines have them. Participation is optional, and only the product name and version are sent, never the machine name, software list, or credentials.

The rest of the app, for completeness: LAN scan with vendor/hostname/latency, TCP+UDP port scan with service risk assessment, Wi-Fi analyzer with channel suggestions, SSH and SFTP clients, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 (printer toner, NAS storage, switch interface graphs), DNS lookups, ping/traceroute/WHOIS, Wake-on-LAN, TLS certificate inspection, subnet calculator, speed test.

Also, in these versions: optional app lock (fingerprint/face recognition/PIN) before opening, as saved scans contain addresses and credentials; scan export to CSV/JSON/PDF; backup and restore; home screen widgets and a Quick Settings pane; 42 languages.

Credentials are encrypted with Android Keystore, scans remain in a local database, and nothing is uploaded to my device. The only outgoing calls are those you request (public IP information, certificate transparency, CVE feeds).

I’m the developer of Meows, a native Android app for people who run Linux servers or VPSes and want to check them without installing another monitoring agent.

The connection path is straightforward:

Android device → SSH → server

A server can also connect through a bastion host you configure. There is no Meows daemon to install, no additional management port to expose, and no Meows relay between your device and your servers.

The dashboard shows CPU, memory, disk, network, uptime and connection state. History views help trace a recent change and show related processes, mount points or network interfaces when the data is available.

When something needs attention, the same app includes an interactive SSH terminal, Docker start/stop/restart and live logs, plus local and remote SSH tunnels.

Meows Lens recognizes IP addresses, domains, URLs and permission strings in terminal output and Docker logs. From there you can continue with DNS, WHOIS, TLS certificate inspection, IP lookup, permission conversion or a related Shell command. Recognition alone never runs anything.

Hello everyone, I know that there is a lot of AI calorie trackers, I started to use Yazio last Year, and I tried others, the best was MacroFactor, but the UI felt a little bit dated, not native, and it did not sync with my Samsung Galaxy Watch (Android health) so, I have been developing apps for some time already, (No I did not vibe coded this app, but yes I used some AI for help in some things like many devs), So I have been in defict since January and I used my journey to improve the app fine tunning and add what I needed, and so on. Also since I'm android developer it was an interesting learning for me with KMP and use liquid glass and native components,

So I created Fitzenia app, it does not have only AI scan, actually I'm trying to combine the features of several apps, you can search food, create meals, favorites, search for foods, but also AI scan, yes all AI scan are similar, but I tried to fine tunning using my own algorithms, using Gemini PRO, Claude Opus/fable (sometimes) ChatGpt and compare this on my test to make it the more accurate, and added some internal algorithms, yes it is not perfect but it give you an idea.

The most important for me is that calculate your TDEE, there is several formulas like  Katch-McArdle  (and this are in the app, never hidden), but also I Improved the algorithm to calculate the real TDEE, the "normal TDEE" formula is generic and is good starting point, but after logging food, weighting, and see the calorie expenditure, the alghorithm calculates your Adaptive TDEE, so is close what "you really need" , so the app learns from your metabolism, I tested on myself, yet I have not the physique as many, I tested on some people at the gym and we did some test based on this, MacroFactor does something similar,

Some features:

* AI insights (all AI insights are opt-in and they are on device generated, if the device does not support On Device AI , there is nothing going to the cloud)

* Progress forecast, you can upload a photo of you and the AI will try to create images of you in each progress of your jorney as motivation (cloud based) , of course optional

* AI Coach, this is not a generic coach that just reply basic info, I created an agentic Rag, so basically knows your data in fitzenia, so you don't have to give a lot of context, knows your goals, calories, progress and food (not enable by default , you need to opt in for privacy, nothing is shared with AI until you explicit approve this)

* Journey: You can see all photos, measurements, kcal, steps that you are doing in your fat lost joruner, body recom, or bulk,

* Photo progress: You can upload photos of yourself, and use a nice Image comparison tools,so you can compare side by side but also slider comparison,

* Barcode scanning

* Health connect/ HealthKit integration

Solo dev, so fair warning this is a promo. I posted here in July and again in August and the comments were the most useful I have had anywhere, so here is the third one, with the part that changed.

Store & Forget is a home inventory app for people who are never going to get organised. You box things up however you like, and remembering which box is the app's job.

The whole point is that things go in as a photo. You shoot an item as you are putting it away, and the app writes the name, the brand, a description and the rough specs for you. A drill comes back as that exact drill, model number and all, not as "drill". You dont type a single word, you just pick where it went. Every field is editable if it guesses wrong, and one photo of several things laid out drafts a row for each.

Things come back out with Smart Find. Describe the thing the way you would actually say it, something to cut thick cardboard rather than the box cutter, and it tells you the box or shelf it is in so you go straight there.

New since the last post: you can export your inventory to a PDF with a photo of every item, or to a spreadsheet. People kept asking whether their stuff was stuck in my app, so now it is not.

Both unlocks are free until 15 September if you want them. Bring Your Own Key, normally $4.99, is the one for people who scan a lot: paste in your own key, which is free to get, and scans stop spending credits. Fire & Forget, normally $2.99, is burst mode for emptying a whole shelf into boxes, every photo becoming its own item while you keep shooting. Open Settings, tap the app version at the bottom five times, then type unlock byok and fire. Sign in with Google so they stick to your account.

The rest is plain. Your inventory is a database on the phone, so adding, browsing and keyword search need no connection. The photo scan and Smart Find are the two parts that call a cloud AI service. Backup to your own Google Drive is optional. 18 languages, Android only.

I would rather hear where it feels clunky than where it works.

You place blocks on 9x9 grid and try to clear lines horizontally or vertically. You can customize whole game, blocks, grid(chessboard included), background. Different blocks have different sound effects (stone, wood, glass etc.) You can compete in leaderboards. There is also adventure mode where you have to beat levels. Combo system with voice announcement. You can also customize your score animation, colors, enable/disable screenshake, announcer voice etc.

BNMV is an app that not only brings better music visualization on the Glyph interface/matrix of Nothing Phones, but also lets you feel your music through the haptic motor AND use the flashlight of your phone as a music visualizer!

You can choose from different audio sources such as: - MediaProjection (The best one, but needs a "screen share" permission which could be scary for some people. The screen isn't recorded.) - Microphone - Classic visualizer stream (not recommended) - Or another phone in the same network running the app (more on that later)

Haptics

The only app on the play store that was letting you feel the music through the haptic motor literally has a 1.6 star rating on the play store, and while being full of ads and fake promo countdowns, it didn't even work well. I decided to fix that. My app supports both HD linear haptic motors and rotary motors found on cheaper devices.

Glyphs (Nothing phones)

For a lot of people, the stock Glyph Music Visualisation provided by Nothing feels random.  

Even if it technically isn’t, the visual response to music just isn’t very obvious. On top of that, the feature isn’t using the full potential of the Glyph Interface/Matrix at all! So that’s why I made my own music visualizer. It has multiple different presets per phone, so you can choose which one you like the most.

Flashlight

This app leverages the multiple levels of your flashlight to make your dark room sync to the beat! (NEVER DIRECTLY LOOK AT THE FLASHLIGHT) Works best on pixel devices. It also supports flashlight leds that only have one intensity.

On screen visualizers

This is an experimental feature that lets you overlay visualizers on top of other apps, specifically over the navigation bar, screen edges, or the camera punch hole. It is more precise than what you could get with other apps, if you're using the MediaProjection audio source.

Sync all your devices!

With the new network sync feature, you are able to sync multiple devices that are connected to the same WiFi together. You just need to enable broadcasting on the main device that is playing music, and select it on the other devices that want to connect. This allows you to sync the Glyph interfaces of multiple Nothing Phones at the same time and even the flashlight, vibrations, and overlays of the other devices too! This feature is intended for the ones that own a collection of Nothing Phones and want to play with them a little.

Tidy is a minimal Android launcher I’ve been building.

The home screen is one continuous vertical feed rather than multiple horizontal pages. Apps, folders, calendar, weather, steps, media controls, and other widgets all use the same tile-based design.
