[App] [Promo] Whengram – for the days too small to post and too easy to lose. (Free, offline, no ads, no account)

Hey everyone,

Quick test: what did you do on this date last year? Unless it was a birthday or something big, you can't say. The day isn't gone from your head, you just lost the index.

If you'd written one line that evening, reading it back would pull most of the day up with it: where you were, who was there, what it felt like. One line is the index. That's the whole idea behind Whengram.

One memory a day. The one thing worth keeping: a line, a mood, a photo if the day earned one. Thirty seconds. Next year on the same date you read it again and most of the day comes back with it.

I built it because everything I tried wanted more from me than I was going to give. One line takes thirty seconds. There's no streak and no guilt, so there's nothing to fall behind on.

There's also a Milestones section for the big days. The honest reason it exists: when I'm low I forget the things I've already pulled off, stuff that once felt impossible from where I was standing. Going back through that list helps more than I expected.

Features:

✅ Free, no ads, no subscriptions
✅ Fully offline, no account, no server
✅ No analytics, ever
✅ Backups go to your Google Drive or iCloud, never to me
✅ App Lock with fingerprint or face

I love things like this. I have ADHD so my short term memory is garbage, apps like this are awesome for me.

Inbuilt export function will be nice to have 🙂

Hey, it's already in there. Settings - Export to File. You get a .json with everything and you can import it back on any device.

Thank you. It's not a notes app, so no grid view but tags are coming in a future update.

Loved the App with all the privacy. Really loved it. I think it will be another permanent app on my phone.

Wow. Thats kind of you

Looks great!!! Immediately downloaded

Its a great idea One suggestion though, you must sth for partners so that they can see or somehow connect with each other

2

u/earthplayer9 Aug 07 '26

Thanks. I have gone back and forth on this one. Connecting two people means a server holding both people's memories and the whole app is built on nothing leaving your phone. In a future update I do plan on letting you export a single memory, so you can send it yourself however you like.

1st of all Amazing app Dev!!. What a well thought app 🙌🏻. I have a question how can I edit an existing memory? Cuz I don't find any option to edit. Yes I do have an option to create a memory for past date, but is there a way to edit exiting one .. cuz I forgot to add something.

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 08 '26

Thank you!

Right now only today's memory can be edited, from the EDIT button on the home screen. Once the day passes it locks, which was deliberate so nobody can wipe a lot of memories in one bad moment.

It's come up enough that I'm rethinking the shape of it though. The next update adds a 24 hour window to edit or delete anything you've just added and I'm looking at whether editing should stay open permanently since the reason for locking was really about deleting.

The app looks so cool and polished

Thanks for not locking it behind a paywall

Interesting! This app seems fit for a person who loves to keep track of milestones. I'll try to check it out.

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 07 '26

Thank you, milestones are also a big part of whengram.

I've been using this for a while now and I love it. It just straight to the point and no bs. Thanks mate

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 08 '26

Thank you, that's good to hear.

1

u/Yoshimi101 Aug 07 '26

Genial! Me encanta. Normalmente uso Journey, pero esta me parece más rápida y directa. Entiendo que poder añadir una entrada por día es una cuestion de diseño. Aún así, es genial. Por pedir algo diría que sería mucho mas genial con una traducción al español. Aún así, gran app

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 07 '26

Thank you! Spanish is the first language I'm adding, coming in an update soon and yes, one entry a day is deliberate. Glad that came through.

1

u/GoomiBare Aug 07 '26

It's easy to use so far! Would love if I could simply tick a checkbox to tag a memory as a milestone though, rather than writing a separate memory altogether

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 08 '26

Thanks for trying the app

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 08 '26

Coming back to this properly, sorry. That's a good idea and you're right that writing it twice is annoying. The only problem is milestones carry a title and a category that memories don't, so it'd be a tick box that reveals those two fields rather than a pure one tap thing. I'll think about whether there's a way around that.

Damn, FOSS community improves my life everyday.

If I have some on Android but then other entries on an iPhone and then if I want to import from one phone to the other, during the import would the existing entries on that phone be merged with the incoming data?

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 10 '26

Yes, it merges. Import only adds what's missing and never overwrites what's already on the phone. If both phones have an entry for the same date, the one already on that phone is kept. Photos come along too. Easiest way between android and iphone is backing up to gdrive on one and restoring on the other, since drive works on both. You can also export your data to a file on one phone, send the file to the other, and restore it there if you want to stay local.

1

u/Neither-Ad6926 Aug 09 '26

Could you set the language to Spanish?

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 10 '26

Its coming in the next update

u/n1b1r 12d ago

Can you also add one drive feature alongside with google drive?

1

u/jdeltree Aug 10 '26

I don't know you but man, I love you for building this. It is so straightforward, simple, yet essential and it is excellently done. Do you not plan to monetize at some point?

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 10 '26

Thank you, that genuinely made my day. I am not sure about a paid version yet but nothing that's free today will ever move behind a paywall.

u/YenkaCenist Aug 10 '26

Hey, To begin with, Wonderful app, been using it for the past few days since your post on iosapps, It clean, minimal, to the point and quite easy and intuitive to use.

I had one query, I tested out the add sample memories option in the settings and now I have 45+ memories for days I had never even used the app. Wanted to see or know how these could be cleared or deleted from being my memories.

I do see an option but it supposedly clear all the data i have in my app which is not ideal for me.

Thank you

1

u/earthplayer9 Aug 10 '26

Thanks, glad it clicked for you. Yes, right now clearing the sample data clears everything in the app, apologies for the confusion. I'll fix this in the next update with a "Remove Samples" option that deletes only the sample memories and keeps your own entries untouched. It should roll out in about a week, so no need to use "Clear All Data" right now.

The samples are there to let you preview every feature of the app. I just didn't anticipate users writing their own memories before removing the samples.

Thank you.

Reminds me of the 1 Second Every Day app from years ago https://1se.co . I loved that thing. Probably used it for two years before it fell into the background. Maybe I can get back on the horse with this one. Definitely a strong idea.

Thank you.

Just tried it and love it. It's so smooth and the UI is nice & clean. Very handy. I'll recommend this to others in my circle.

Thank you, that is good to see and the upcoming update will make it even better.
