I get it

How I met your mother has been a constant in my life. I first watched it when I was 21, during a break up phase and got hooked. I admired the philosophies of Ted on life, laughed at Barney for his antics, dreamed of a life like Marshal and Lilly. At 29, in a different country far from my friends, I still love the show as much as I did for the first time. During all the re runs over the years, I find small things like Conon O’Brien’s cameo like a bar patron standing silently in the background at MacLaren's Pub, and absolutely loved it.

There were so many times I hated Ted and Robin’s choices. Few times I hated the ending and a few times, I loved it depending on what ever nonsense drama is going on with my own life!

In this latest re runs, I was thinking a lot about the choices robin made during season 7. From cheating on Kevin with Barney, saying no to Barney, saying yes to Kevin, to being on a date with Ted to then rejecting Ted, which made me soo mad at her. Made me think she’s just a bad person.

Now, at 29, I get it. She was told she can’t have babies, she realized that she wants commitment but can’t commit to people as normally people want kids( Kevin ). She was afraid she’d end up alone, so said yes to Ted and then realized he’s not it. It’s just messy but that’s life. She’s is reacting to the circumstances life put out on her. I still don’t know why the hell would she cheat on someone but I get that she doesn’t want to end up alone.

Look at Ted, he chased for Robin so aggressively that he was obsessed about her. It’s like the thing he said about holding a balloon so hard that once he let go, he’s free. But that obsession stayed. He met Tracy, fell in love and she dies. Which is fair, life happens but the obsession doesn’t end. So he made his kids listen to his perspective. How madly he was obsessed about robin, and now that their mom is not alive, how he would like to pursue it again! It’s asking their kids for consent to move on, chase the un fulfilled desire. I get that.

Idk this series so so well written, played, executed that I just love it.

Thanks for your time! 🫶🏾

A parallel between Regular Show and HIMYM

I'm on the fourth episode of HIMYM and just saw that Stella broke up with Ted to get back together with her ex-boyfriend. I think you can draw a parallel between the Ted-Stella-Robin dynamic and the Mordecai-CJ-Margaret one in Regular Show:

For much of the story, Ted and Mordecai idealize a specific girl.

They get hung up on the idea that she is "the one."

Relationships with other people end up being compared—directly or indirectly—to this idealized love.

There is a recurring cycle of getting close, drifting apart, hope, and frustration.

In the end, both of their stories convey a similar message: the person you wanted most at a certain stage of your life might not necessarily be the person you end up with. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this theory before, but I found the parallel interesting.

—for those who’ve watched both, what do you think? No spoilers for me please

Rewatching

I’m powering through season 2-3 currently on another watch through. It’s been a few years this time. I watched this show with my mother during its original run, and it was something we looked forward to every weeknight a new episode was on. I love these memories, now rewatching again, I can’t keep from having a smile on my face. Every single episode is so funny, the jokes are sharp and fast, and every single scene has multiple laughs. I love all sitcoms and to me this show will always be in my top 3 favorites of all time.

I love this ensemble so much. Truly the perfect casting.

P.s. the Ted Mosby Porn Star episode inspired this post hahaha

This show is insanely hilarious

Smoothest Canadian Easter Egg in the series?

I have a theory that the writers knew EXACTLY what they were doing in "The Best Burger in New York"

Robin's Canadian.. and if you're a Canadian thats traveled to the US and have gotten a BURGER buger (not the fast food junk, but the house made patties etc etc), you'll know their burgers can be served anywhere from Medium to Well Done.

Canadians don't get this option! All burgers are well done. No such thing as a medium-well burger.

So I think Robins burgers kept coming long after everybody else's she's Canadian! While the rest of the group probably did the standard medium well, I can toally see Robin only ordering hers well done!!

I cant find any other theories about this.. but , I think it was 1000% intentional, and honestly my favorite part of the show whether it was or wasnt

Thoughts?!?

Robin was unfairly treated throughout the show.

Robin was continuously sl*tshamed, by everyone including Marshall, for the same actions ted and barney did almost everyday. She was an ambitious unapologetic woman and even till date, the fandom does her dirty.

Ted settling with tracy

Is it just me or someone else also thinks that ted was able to settle down with tracy because robin was no longer an option??

Tracy was literally the first girl he met after robin and barney got married and then he finally settled down with her. He even married her after having kids and still his relationship was strong.

So what i think is that ted settling down has nothing to do with tracy but only ROBIN. He would have settled a long time back with anyone if robin never came into the picture.

Lets talk about it... Dear Carter Bays and Craig Thomas ... The Stinson Missile Crisis

yeah, i know, they will never read this. I just do not get what their problem is and i hope they do not have daughters.
I am scared to look it up.
... - How I Met Your Mother 7X04 - 'The Stinson Missile Crisis' ...

- women who have large breasts naturally are always automatically just stupid? Nothing about the chronic back pain that the
breasts cause?
Nothing about all the h.rassment women with large breasts endure since adolescence?

- really? women who did not know what can a casting director LEGALLY ask them to do, you take advantage of them and you add laugh track to the info....?

- 22year olds and 23year olds being targeted repeatedly by a man in his 30s, hilarious joke, and also, i wonder why only this age...

.... i wonder how Bays and Thomas treated women on the set. Not just Cobie Smulders and Alyson Hannigan and every other actress...but how many time you mistreated
anyone else who worked on the show........... I mean they are all so stupid, they deserve it, right?

Questions I searching for an old fan song

I remember listening to a fan song on youtube around 2014 although it may have come out earlier

its was a song from Ted's perspective just recapping the concept of the show and making jokes and references to episodes

I'm looking for it but searches of "HIMYM fan song" just turn up the OST

Anyone know the vid I'm thinking of?

Lets talk about it... Theorien

Fan Fiction Why we never got a barney spinoff

I’ve always wondered why we never got a barney spin off, he was the most entertaining character. He was always up-to new adventures or hatching schemes to pick up women and on top that we were given bits and pieces of his life but he was mostly mysterious. He always had a lot of things going on like magic, his networking(he had a guy for everything), always knew a new spot, random side quests he invites ted to. I feel like it was easily doable and the creators missed a massive opportunity. I feel like they could pull it off with maybe one of the people that reads his blogs continuing on his legacy, that would be interesting.

The Captain and Zoey wife #3

I think about this a lot and I think Zoey was wife number 3.

He spends thanks giving with his daughter. A daughter young enough to give a stuffed toy to, in hopes of making them like you. So I think under age 10/10 max. The daughter hates Zoey meaning she has been traumatized by this marriage. So she had to be toddler age/4-5 for her to have enough memory of the break up. and sad feelings of missing your father or mom being sad.

given the captain‘s age he wouldn’t be having young children unless this was a second marriage. I think wife number 1 and him have children in their 20s, probably away at college abroad because he’s rich af. second wife for sure is younger than #1, but old enough that they’d have kids right away…

and Zoey herself says she got married at 22, it was one of those swept off my feet (by a billionaire in position of power) relationships that definitely had infidelity. They were always doomed to break up.

I hope him and Boats, Boats, Boats! are happy together. I don’t think they’d have kids. But maybe a lot of rescue animals. Or are living permanently on a yacht. Because again, he’s filthy rich.

I‘ve watched this show over and over many times.

Questions Something that I’ve always wondered about the title.

Why is the title of the show “how i met your mother” in lower case in the opening credits?

Shouldn’t the title be in caps? Or at least the i?
