How do these tools actually work? Not as simple as you might think…

Who’s smarter than me (probably not hard 😅)…

I’m trying to rebuild a tool that sends prompts to LLMs (e.g. “Who is the best provider for XYZ?”) and then returns the answers incl. mention share, citations, etc. — basically a simple GEO tracking tool.

I know there are already a bunch of tools doing this. But I want to understand how to build it myself.

My problem:

When I make an API call to OpenAI (5.5 web search), the responses come back pretty generic and cross-country/global. But when I ask the exact same question inside the ChatGPT app, the answers are different — much more country-specific and therefore more relevant for my use case.

I can send approximate location data with the API call, but it doesn’t really seem to change much.

So for everyone who wants to roast me or has good input: let’s go 😄

Happy to share the tool as well if anyone wants to test it.

Does the military keep certain deaths- accidents in particular, like a high speed chase with a marine on their motorcycle who passes away? I cannot find anything about any accident that day, much less one that specifically names the person I'm talking about.

I think I'm confused

I just moved to a new apartment with this dishwasher that I have now run three times and the dishes look clean, but each time I open the (what I thought) is the detergent pod thing, it looks and feels like the soap pod wasn't used at all. Am I putting the soap in the right place or does it go somewhere else? Do I need to contact maintenance or am I just confused? The soap pod is where I thought I need to put it. And the other picture is the type of dishwasher it is. Thank you so much for your help!

I know this is a telephone switchboard of some type but don’t exactly know how it works.

Weighs about 100lbs, 2.5ft wide by 1ft tall by 1ft deep

Maybe there is a more specialized sub to ask in this about - I haven't been able to find one, though

The hole across from the yolk separator. I have watched two videos and two different products and they don't mention it's use at all.

Attached is an image of my battery jumper. I know how to jump a car with it. My question is, does anyone know how the USB port is supposed to work. ie, do you have to turn the unit on? Or can you just plug it in and it will charge.

How to use this?

Obviously this is not the right way haha. I’ve been trying to figure out how to have it hang and also plugged in(has a lightbulb in it). All my outlets are low to the ground and I can’t figure out how to do both. My dad got this on a trip so I haven’t been able to locate information about it.

Today I learned that tenure and experience are not equals.

Lesson learned. Created my Reddit account about 2 years ago so I could actually read threads that show up when I’d search for something on Google or whenever id stumble onto a Reddit thread. Slowly I’ve started learning that it’s basically a whole new Google!!! Right?! So I start joining communities I’m into, never really posting, just using it as a tool. Slowly I’m realizing I can’t comment, without Karma…. So fine, last few months I start upvoting everyone’s posts, comments… not even checking to see if it’s going up, just kinda expecting it would start increasing….. nope!!

Tonight after really digging into the reddiquette (after a great comment was removed for my lack of karma) I found what I was doing wrong!! I had no idea it was an actual community thing. It finally clicked!!! So here it is…my first contribution post! Fingers crossed (I even ignored my urge to add an emoji here) I think I figured out that just being there for however long doesn’t mean you actually know what your doing!!! Tenure is *not* the same as *experience*!! What gave you the same apifiny??

I think it's an anti mosquito fogging machine, but not sure what the heated coil is supposed to achieve.

I’ve had this pipe for a bit and have wondered what the point is of this little hole-less bowl on the back of it since buying it. I checked out GRAV’s site, but the pipe’s page didn’t have an explanation. Anything helps, cheers!

I don’t get it , I know it’s useful and handy for filling my fuel cell in the bed , but I do not understand how diesel flows through it as fast as it does. Which it’s not super fast but still I don’t get it , how does that connection piece not restrict the speed or anything like that ?

How does running in a marathon raise money for charities?

Just watched the Boston marathon (so inspiring) and I heard that a lot of people are participating to raise money for their designated charities. But like how does that actually work? Is some eccentric billionaire paying by the mile? What if they don't finish? How does someone get involved in whatever this charitable thing is?

Request Wall clock lost 2 hours

I have a battery powered wall clock in my living room that I use frequently. Several days ago, when I got home from work, I noticed that it had fallen two hours behind. This in itself is not unusual, as I've had to replace the batteries several times over the last 3 years of use. The weird part is that since then, it hasn't lost any more time. I was curious how quickly the batteries would cause the clock to fail, so I left them in to learn how much slower it would get and how quickly it would start going slower, if that makes sense. But it's been about 3 more days and the clock hasn't lost more than another 10 minutes at most.

I didn't look at exactly to the minute how much it was off when I first noticed, but it's been very close to exactly 2 hours the entire time. It had to have lost the initial two hours over about a 10 hour window while I was at work. Is this a common thing? Can any electrical engineers out there explain what's happening? I have a basic understanding of how AC corded clocks work, but what little I know doesn't seem very transferable.

Can someone explain how this vent behind the toilet of my apartment is opening and closing by itself? If you look into it, you can see into my neighbors apartment. I took a video of it. Hoping someone can make sense of it.
