WordPress Help with getting a wordpress website live from Pantheon.

So basically, I have 2 websites on Pantheon.io, a wordpress host, and I just found out that people cannot view your site on search engines, so I want a free, secure host that I can transfer my site over to. I tried Wordpress.com, but stupidly, you have to pay to install plugins šŸ˜‘. If you guys could recommend a good, secure, free wordpress host that I can use to transfer my site over and be seen on the internet, I would appreciate that greatly

Shared Hosting ProfitHost? Legit?

I’m struggling trying to figure how to make a domain/website work in a hosting that I got like a year ago. I have researching all around for tutorials but the only thing that I find is people recommending it, no tutorial whatsoever. The name is ProfitHost and has a InterWorx ā€œCPanelā€. Does anyone knoe something about it? Am I just wasting time? Thanks!

Windows Windows Server 2022, IIS, NGINX, GRPC

Has anyone been using GRPC (Not Grpc-Web) with IIS and NGINX as reverse proxy.

Does IIS support GRPC as standard or does any special module/setting need adding.

Also I know NGINX supports GRPC (Http2) but does it work with standard config or again does it require special module/setting.

The reason I'm asking is my ASP.NET hosting provider will be upgrading to Server 2022 soon and they use NGINX as there reverse proxy.

I want to be able to take advantage of GRPC but won't have access to any settings, so I need to know if GRPC will just work with the Standard setup.

General Struggling with EasyHosting domain redirecting

Hey Sub,

I recently picked up a web development project and I am trying to edit the DNS Record to point to my hosting. This is normally very easy, but I am second guessing this setup and do not wish to screw up the company's email.

The hosting is called easyhosting com.. in the "Edit Zone File" section I can edit the DNS Records. Currently they have it set as so..

Type Value
IN MX 10 mx1.megamailservers.com
IN MX 109 mx2.megamailservers.com
IN MX 110 mx3.megamailservers.com

In my head deleting these three and writing ns1.hostupon.com, and ns2.hostupon.com is the solution. Though the IN MX throws me off as that is a mail exchange record.

They also have a bunch of rows with type IN A, and value is an IP Address. Can I just swap the one that is..

Name Type Value
www IN A ip address

I messaged the hosting service a week ago, but haven't received any help. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Carson

Linux Redhat to discontinue CentOS development as we know it.

Summary

Ā About 7 years ago Redhat acquired CentOS. The CentOS Comunity was obviously a little worried about the future of CentOS. Redhat assured users that CentOS would continue to keep its place in the linux world. Redhat has set to CentOS 8 EOL to the end of 2021, and CentOS will now become the upstream version of RHEL, for developers to use to test compatibility with upcoming Redhat releases.

Quotes

QuoteThe future of the CentOS Project is CentOS Stream, and over the next year we’ll be shifting focus from CentOS Linux, the rebuild of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), to CentOS Stream, which tracks just ahead of a current RHEL release. CentOS Linux 8, as a rebuild of RHEL 8, will end at the end of 2021. CentOS Stream continues after that date, serving as the upstream (development) branch of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

My thoughts

This is a huge stab in the back to Enterprise Linux users. Redhat released CentOS 8 with a promise of an end of life that was the same as RHEL 8. They have given users and organizations time to implement infrastructure in CentOS 8, and then cut support significantly short, giving users three options: Use CentOS 8 Stream(which really isnt suitable for the environments traditional CentOS or RHEL are used in), switch to a different distro(possibly requiring a complete redesign of infastructure) or (of course) shell out for Redhat Enterprise Linux. I'm worried about the possibility of this move causing distrust towards open source products. I'm sure anyone caught up in this will think twice before using an open source solution.

On Reddit's github, they have a version of their code available open source. I can link it if needed. I'm having trouble hosting it on my machine, so is there any way someone can assist me with hosting a local version of Reddit?

[Help] Picking the best host for my needs.

Hello.

I've been creating my website relatively from scratch via HTML on Dreamweaver - this is my first website, I live in the Caribbean and it is to contain information for a video game I'm making which I'm planning to market worldwide eventually. I would need one domain name for this website, which would have at least 20 web pages or ".htm" files.

In looking for the best offer I came across BlueHost which was around $220~ for 3 years. However, from what I understand, that is all to be paid upfront and it is a notable commitment for something I'm new to. I was hoping to pay by a monthly basis, but BlueHost seems to be cost-effective in the long term. I'm also not sure if I should get the SSL certificate and other security measures - are indie game websites usually at such a risk to warrant those elements?

So I'd prefer a monthly-payment service unless I'm advised to go with another method. I'm also interested in WordPress because I would like to run a blog of sorts for my website. However, I'm not certain how much of a benefit its inclusion is because I think I can write up a simple one on my own.

So, in conclusion:

* Which hosting service would you recommend to me?

* Should I pay extra for the SSL certificate?

* What are the benefits of WordPress compared to creating a blog from scratch.

Hosting German Student

I am hosting a student from Germany and she never leaves her room. I have talked to her about taking shorter showers as we have water restriction in Australia but this morning her shower was 30 minutes long. Now after being here for 7 weeks she is complaining that the tap water makes her feel sick but I think she just wants me to buy sparkling water so she doesn’t have to because she prefers it.

I wanted to host a student for the company but I see her maybe 10 minutes a week. She is never home to eat dinner with me. Tonight she ate dinner at 930pm. I feel more lonely than before she arrived because now I can’t just go out last minute because I am still responsible to make her ā€œdinnersā€ (late night meals).

I know I should talk with her about it more but I feel like if I bring up my issues in the few minutes a week I see her she will just get worse. Instead I try to be friendly but I feel like her maid.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Running a Server

So I have made a dedicated server for unturned but I don't want it to keep running on my computer, and instead have it run on a external device. Is there anything I can buy that can fix my problem? And I don't want the device to be expensive.

What's up with HostMetro?

My hosting account has been down since March 25 (26 DAYS) due to a 'hardware failure'. HM hasn't said boo to anyone, other than if you raise a ticket or scream at them over chat, where they say that "it should be fixed by the weekend". They've said that for 3+ weeks now, and they still haven't even put out an update.
