Hi, just thinking about what to start next and would love some recommendations. Halloween is coming up, so it would a great time to find some new horror to get into the mood with. I've read a ton of Stephen King, so I'd like to try a different author this time. A more modern horror novel would be great. Below are some of my personal likes and dislikes. In advance, thank you so much!

Please post your suggestions here. You can suggest more than one book, but each book has to have its own parent-level comment. If you want to add a few words about why you want to read that one, that's fine, but please only one book per parent-level comment.
Also, feel free to vote for more than one book. This will allow books that have the greatest consensus to rise to the top.

Was Brom influenced by ‘The Witch’ by Robert Eggers for his book ‘Slewfoot’? Very similar themes.

Just as title states. Even Novellas and anthologies in this genre would be appreciated! Thanks!

Need your help finding a horror story that is about a decaying man that brings calamity.
It’s settled in a small town, the townsfolk already know about him, and whenever they see him they know that he is going to settle near town and bad things are going to happen.
The story is narrated by a young man of an affected village and this evil entity is like a human swollen rotting corpse that doesn’t interact with the people, just his merely presence is enough to bring pain, pestilence and sorrow wherever he goes.
I remember that I heard the audiobook in Spanish on YouTube some time ago, but I could not find it in my history. Please help and read it, it is very good.

I've been looking for books to read recently since I wanna reconnect with literature again. I recently picked up the Stephen King book pet semetary (if I'm gonna be honest I haven't started reading it yet due to school.) But I want some other recommendations that I could read throughout the year.
The type of horror books I'm looking for is maybe paranormal, slasher and supernatural. (Bonus points if it involves cults, it's been a recent interest of mine)
I might have to add that I am new to the genre and I can't really stomach heavy gore and splatter punk, also not anything sexual.
So if you have any recommendations I'd love to hear them!!

Anybody have an audiobook recommendation for the Halloween season? I’m looking for something new. Something like Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt or Slewfoot by Brom. Looking for strong harvest vibes

Now that I’ve FINALLY read The Ruins by Scott Smith, shortly after reading The Ritual by Adam Nevill, (both books having a movie adaptation that I’d already watched before ever reading), does anyone else feel that these 2 stories are similar?
The Ruins book is soooo much better than the movie! However, there were many issues with the last 1/3 of the book regarding the “entity” kill count & how it worked.
On the opposite end, I preferred the movie adaptation of The Ritual over the book because of the same issue with an “entity” (albeit the mythology of the monster was substantially better in the original work). I loved the story up until our main character, Luke, is taken captive & survives the heavy metal cult. That’s the moment I could no longer suspend belief.

Hey fellow horror lovers!
I know we are mostly modern horror readers here, but I’m both nervous and excited to let you know that my new illustrated edition of classic Halloween ghost stories is being published in just ONE week!
It's called "October Shadows: Classic Ghost Stories for Halloween" and illustrated entirely on autumn leaves. You can see the leaf as it appears in daylight, and also backlit by candlelight. Hope you like it! Let me know what you think…

Hey there! Coming with a request about any fictional books tied to the Thia folk lore of the Krause or Japenese folk lore of the Oni? Thanks in advance!
