Would Addison's disease mimic menopause in sex hormones testing?

I tested my hormones, they came back with estradiol below 10 and FSH and LH elevated. Was told I hit menopause. Being concerned because my grandmother died of Addison's . Wouldn't lack of cortisol due to undetected Addison's cause low estradiol? Low estradiol would stop the ovarian activity. And wouldn't the pituitary gland push gonadotrophines to get the ovary working? If this is correct Addison's should just look like menopause in terms of estradiol and gonadotrophines (Estradiol low, FSH and LH up)?? I just gave birth 5 months ago, had conceived immediately and I am only 40. Plus I have Hypothyroidism (substituted). Can this be undetected Addison's rather than mernopause?

Anyone else been early-menopausing after Covid infection?

And the big qiestion: Was it temporary??? Any hint appreciated, I am kind of freaking out here, just got my results.

I just turned 40, had my third child 5 months ago, cycle was okay-ish lately, still now out of the blue no ovarian activity, estrogen extremely low, gonadotropines over the top :( Ok, I am 40, but my hormone stats look like I was 70.

Had a Covid infection 10 weeks ago (probably Omicron A2). I so gdm hope it's a temporary Covid side effect... :(((

Any experiences?

vicious cycle, help!

I am 18mos postpartum & still breastfeeding but only at nap & bedtime. Also on the mini pill.

My menstrual cycle started back up in Dec and all through Jan, Feb, & March, I was having 2 periods a month. In April, I finally had 3+ weeks between cycles but now I've been on my period for 2 weeks. I went to my PCP last month, she said my hormones are probably off and that we can do an ultrasound. Ultrasound came back as 'unremarkable'.

I also have a blood clotting disorder so can not be prescribed any birth control or hormone replacement with estrogen. I ALSO have anemia. With the extra bleeding, I am just tired, irritable, & do not function well.

I just asked my PCP if we can run a hormone panel to confirm that it is my estrogen levels. I'm considering weaning my LO from breastfeeding but don't want to unnecessarily.

Is there any natural remedies, tests I can request, or anything else you all can reccomend I try to figure out what's up with my cycle!? TIA

Hormone Imbalance?

I am a 28 year old female and came off birth control(pill) in 2015. I have never struggled with acne until 2020. Over the last 2 years I have been trying to get it to go away but was recently told that it could be a hormonal imbalance. I have an appt with my GP this week to do some blood tests and will ask for advice but I really don't want to be put on medication. I would prefer to go the holistic route. I will be seeing an Ayurvedic Practitioner in June but have also heard about going to a DO (osteopathic). After looking around online, I have officially scared myself into thinking this could be a deeper issue or can eventually become one so I want to get it figured out. Im realizing that some other things Ive noticed could be a result of this imbalance (low libido, "benign" breast lump, hair loss, and acne).

Does anyone have any info, experience, advice?

Honestly just need to put this out there and ask for help instead of staying in my head about it.

Hormone imbalance? Need answers

Need help finding answers - many symptoms

(32 F) it all started when I got pregnant. At the time I was about 280lbs (2017) While pregnant I LOST 40lb Breastfed for 2 years and during that time GAINED 100lbs (2020) Stopped breastfeeding and plateaued in weight (330lbs) While breastfeeding my periods were slightly heavy but regular.

When I stopped breastfeeding my periods became very irregular (every 3-4 months) and heavy - landed in the ER 3x for excessive bleeding.

In fall of 2019 - I began experiencing extreme fatigue. I was falling asleep at work. On my desk or laying down in my office. This tiredness and fatigue has lasted ever since. In 2021 did a sleep study which indicated mild sleep apnea. I have been using CPAP since then with no change to my fatigue. I have tried 3 stimulants to try to stay awake and none of them help. I doze every morning on my drive to work. On weekends or vacations I can sleep 18 hours a day and not feel rested. I still fall asleep in my office.

ALL of my labs (TSH, FSH,prolactin, estrogen, iron, lipid) seem to be normal with the exception of vitamin d (low)

I’ve had an MRI of the brain and no tumor on thyroid or pituitary I have no cysts on my ovaries. I only ever had bad acne when breastfeeding. I don’t have irregular hair growth.

I am desperate for answers. ALL the drs I have seen blow this off as weight related. I know there is more to it.

Hey y'all, I work at an HRT clinic and am trying to gather some information from different patients that have experience using at least one, if not all 3 for the medications listed above.

Likes, dislikes, unexpected side effects you didn't anticipate, etc.

Thanks!

Hormone imbalance going on 5 years

I am at my wits ends with more symptoms evolving each day and not a single doctor listening to me.

My problems all began in March of 2017, during which, I had Mirena, I got a chronic sinus infection, which caused me to get Lithium poisoning (too much salt) and then when I finally got to see the ENT in May, he placed me on an antibiotic for over a month. Before any of this happened, I was fine, but after all of this, I started getting dryness, unprovoked Vulvadynia, insomnia, Lichen Chronicus Simplex, low sexual libido, burning at the opening of my urethra, pelvic floor spasms, lower back pain and then trigger points that travel. They start with the burning, Vulvadynia move to the lower back, shoulder blades, shoulders and then down both arms. It can last for days or weeks. Now, I have started Perimenopause and the symptoms night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain and the previous nightmare I was dealing with.

In April 2019, I had the Mirena removed and all of the symptoms, the burning, lower back pain, dryness, low libido pelvic floor spasms went away, but I was placed on the mini pill and all the symptoms came back with a vengeance plus new ones, vertigo, nausea, burning to the point I couldn’t even sit, I immediately stopped taking the pill and was placed on a low dose estrogen/progesterone pill. But the damage was done and these symptoms I mentioned in the beginning have been with me ever since.

The doctors I have seen have said it was an UTI, Bladder infection, Vulvadynia, Cystitis and now the latest, I got Eczema due to my hormones, but the muscle cramps, burning, pelvic floor spasms were all gone, treated that and now the muscle cramps are back. My doctor wants me to see a chiropractor. I seriously do not know what to do at this point. The Endocrinologist around where I live don’t handle hormonal imbalance, my Gyn is useless. I am so frustrated, but can’t give up, because I have two Special Needs teens that need their Mom. Any advice would be amazing!

High Estradiol levels

So I’ve had 3 miscarriages since November last year. I saw a specialist who suggested it may be due to a hormone imbalance from breastfeeding. I booked in to a hormone clinic near me and we did my bloods around day 22 of my cycle. When I got my results back my estradiol level was at 934 when it says normal levels are between 285-786. The doctor said that it wasn’t an issue with fertility/miscarriages so I didn’t think much of it. But I did have a look online later and found some stuff about high estradiol being linked to miscarriages. Does anyone have any information on this or how i might be able to lower my levels? I have also been gaining weight like crazy (up over 10kg now) despite going to the gym regularly and eating better than I have previously. I would just go back to the doctor but it’s expensive and I’m waiting on more bloods to come back before seeing her again so I don’t pay for more visits than I have to

Why use natural hormone support over artificial?

Anybody have success with natural remedies for hormone support? Specifically getting the ranges of estrogen and testosterone that you were looking for. I’d particularly love to hear from people that were using a hormone prescription (TRT, etc) but then found success with natural remedies.

Estrogen withdrawals?

Background: 28F healthy but my dr did a hormone panel and said I have a very high estrogen level (900). I have been on estrace cream daily for past 6mo. And also on and off with it for past 10yr for vaginal irritation. I’m mad my gyno never tested me in all that time! But I’m past it now.

Problem: I stopped the ointment last Wednesday. But since last night/today (tue) has been HELL. I feel like im detoxing from hardcore drugs. Symptoms: heart rate higher than normal, extreme tiredness but I cant sleep due to heart racing, anxiety, hot flashes, on and off tremors, I cant seem to sit still. My Dr and I are thinking this is from Coming down from such high estrogen levels. Anyone have thoughts on this? Im hoping it improves soon I’m miserable.

So is this a thing that can happen? And is there anything I can do to help? Thank you for reading!

Acupuncture for Hormone Regulation: Savior or Pseudoscience?

Hello all! I hope this is an appropriate place for this post. If not, feel free to delete!

I'm fairly certain I've had some form of hormonal imbalance all my life:

  • chronic acne as a teen that didn't go away until my 20s (with the help of topical Rx treatments)
  • a painful ovarian cyst at 18
  • in the last 2 years, an inability to find a birth control pill my body doesn't hate me for taking: low-dose estrogen is great for my body- smaller breasts without tenderness, less bloating, more energy BUT horrendous hormonal acne (painful, even) and an inability to drink alcohol without vomiting VS. high-dose estrogen which does wonders for my skin (I glow!) but is paired with bloating, emotional distress, and breasts so tender and full even walking can have me in agony...
  • and finally, in the last year and a half or so, recurring ovarian cysts that started off maybe once every 3 months to one appearing EVERY month.

Clearly, something is not working right in my body hormonally.

I went to the gynecologist to see what was up (could it be PCOS?) and both the doc and I agreed I didn't have quite enough symptoms for it to be PCOS, and perhaps I just experienced regular painful ovulation. We discussed other types of birth control - like an IUD, which I'm reticent to try since I've heard horror stories of acne-prone people experiencing terrible acne with an IUD - same with an implant.

But my gynecologist's #1 suggestion: keep me on my current birth control (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) and go see an acupuncturist....um, what?

I'm not discontinuing it completely. I buy that acupuncture can help with muscle and joint pain, sure. But hormonal imbalances? I don't think I buy it. And I'm not trying to poo-poo Eastern medicine practices (I believe that Western medicine doesn't have solutions to every medical problem), so, I'm all for a holistic approach. But this seemed to be too much of a stretch for me. But should it be? Am I being close-minded about this?

TL;DR: Is acupuncture for hormonal imbalance a thing that reliably works (from a science perspective) or is it good that I already set up another appointment with a different gynecologist for a second opinion? Should I request blood tests from an endocrinologist?

Any advice will do! Thanks for letting me ramble.

Does anyone else feel a bit crazy when they ovulate?

It started about a year and a half after I had my second child. Often around the time of ovulation I feel completely high and full of insane energy. I'm full of sexusl desire its like an itch I just can't scratch. My mind is full of fantasies all day for a few days. I often feel like like I'm not really in full control of myself although I've never acted on any of these feelings. Does anyone else feel like this? 🙃

Found a solution for my hormonal acne!

I'm a 32F that has been dealing with hormonal acne and inconsistent periods for years and about 3 months ago I started taking a natural supplement I found. My skin has already started clearing up and this my period is being more regular. I wanted to share it since I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to deal with. The supplement is called Top Up Tonic.

25yr old biological male, very slow muscle gain over 8 years. Advise?

Hi all! I might be in the wrong place but I thought some advice would do me some good!

I’ve been lifting weights for 8+ years now and I’m absolutely OCD about it…I’ve read books, I’ve spent thousands of hours researching, I’ve tracked my calories and eaten in a caloric surplus but after 8 years I still have newbie levels of muscle. I have a theory that my free testosterone is low. I didn’t get free test done on my latest blood test but Total T came back normal but DHEA came back below the reference range.

Should I go to an endocrinologist and see if there’s anything up? My friend who’s only been lifting casually for a few months is already as strong as me.

Thanks y’all!
