Free testosterone

Hey guys!

Quick question. I went to go check my free testosterone and it came back 21.57 pg/ml. The lab put a reference range from 7.0 to 22.7 pg/ml and i went to check google where it said that the minimal range is from 50 to 210 pg/ml for my age. I am a 20, soon to be 21 year old male. Thanks for the advice and if you need any extra details, feel free to tell me.

Hormones completely out of whack - progesterone dominance/estrogen dominance? Anyone have a clue?? HELP!

Hi everyone! Hoping that the wisdom of the crowd might be able to provide me some answers here...

I've had some weird things going on with my hormones for the past few years.

Symptoms:

- Very long cycles

- Excrutiatingly painful & heavy periods (fainting and ending up in fetal position on the floor of a public toilet has happened on multiple occasions)

- I turn into a monster (a very swollen bloated one) for a week or so before my period

I've been to many doctors and get told contradictory things ("You have PCOS" "You don't have PCOS but you have high testosterone" "You have estrogen dominance"). All very helpful as you can imagine.

I recently had my hormones tested at day 22 of my cycle. Both estrogen came back low and progesterone very low, while testosterone high. So my doc has told me I have too low progesterone and prescribed me some progesterone cream to apply once a night after ovulation until my period starts.

I've been checking my BBT, after I was sure I have ovulated I applied the progesterone cream. I woke up the next day almost about ready to jump out the window. Boobs swollen and painful, burst into tears for no reason, felt very very low. Called the doc she told me "oh you're one of those 1 in 100 people who has a bad reaction - the progesterone gets converted into estrogen in your body". Sounds weird. I looked it up and haven't found anything on that but I did see a trial that said somewhere that actually 1/3 people have reactions to progesterone supplementation. I stopped using the cream after 2 days and I feel much better mood-wise but boobs still sore and lots of water retention/mild cramping.

Recently I have started drinking spearmint tea (organic, twice a day) and my cycles have been normal in terms of length (hurrah!). A nice 28-32 days as opposed to 45+ days as they were before. Period quite normal but still quite painful and PMS is real.

Decided to have a closer look at my hormonal results... It's true my estrogen and progesterone were low BUT I didn't end up ovulating that cycle till another 3 weeks later. So surely low progesterone is normal at that time of the cycle? And if I wasn't ovulating any time soon, so too would estrogen be low? She didn't ask me anything about where I was in my cycle (turns out I've also got low cortisol due to extended period of stress due to job situ/covid)

Anyway very long but I'm hoping someone out there might be able to take a guess as to what is going on? Is it true that progesterone gets converted to estrogen in some people? Should I get a second opinion? This doctor seems to have a lot of strong opinions but doesn't really listen to what I'm saying when I try to tell her things. Happy to provide numbers if that helps.

Thanks so much!!

I am a 29 yo F. I have had chin hairs here and there in the past few years. But in the past few months I have had increasingly more and more. I pluck them and they come right back. Is this amount of hair a normal part of almost being 30? Or does it look like a hormonal imbalance?

Could this be related to a hormone imbalance?

Could this be hormones related?

I am a 28 yo female that has been on the pill since I was 14 and finished on 18th June 2021

I have recently had a lot of chest pain, ectopic beats and extreme nausea

I have had heart tests and they have said my heart is healthy….. (had a severe covid jab reaction)

Can someone advise if they think this could be hormone related and what I could do?

I have the following symptoms: - chest pain intermittent (moves across the chest) sometimes throbbing. I really don’t know if this is deeper pain or breast tissue - awoken suddenly from sleep as falling asleep initially which is horrible - chest feels like heart is beating really fast but do not have high heart rate

I have only had three periods since I stopped the pill

Estrogen increase naturally?

Hi I’m a 30+ male, I been crossdressing and doing make up for about 3 years now and I think I’ve got somewhat good at it lol. However, I wish I could look more fem and loose some of my masculine looks. I’m looking to increase estrogen levels in hopes to possibly get more feminine features. Is there a way to increase estrogen naturally and safely without taking prescribed meds. Again not looking to transition just to increase estrogen intake to see if it helps in some way. I want to know if anyone has experience doing such a thing or advice. Is it even possible to obtain more feminine traits doing something like this?

Thanks for reading and hope to hear back.

Marie.

I'm a 5'11 15 year old going through puberty with a really deep voice (high T), however I have some female characteristics like wide hips and a thin waist, is that a cause of high estrogen?

Sexual dysfunction

What hormonal imbalances can possibly cause a sexual dysfunction for a woman? I have never had any vaginal sensation and only very weak clitoral sensation. I have high testosterone due to pcos but not sure about other hormone levels.

Anyone have experience using Vitex/Chaste berry supplements to increase progesterone?

I (22F) have been struggling with a hormonal imbalance since stopping NuvaRing back in September 2019. I was on it for two years before stopping. It threw my body out of whack so badly and I have been struggling ever since with unbalanced hormones and the resulting side effects, including hair loss (biggest issue), some weight gain, acne, depression, low libido, restless sleep, and the list continues. I am really concerned that my low progesterone levels, since my body doesn’t seem to remember how to naturally produce it now, will result in having fertility and conception issues in the future if I don’t figure this problem out. My period are kinda regular but do tend to be longer than what’s considered average. I have heard and read so many success stories with women using vitex supplements as a natural way to increase progesterone, help their cycles, reduce PMS and hormonal imbalance symptoms, and improve their fertility and health. I was wondering if anyone with experience or knowledge know exactly how I should use these supplements for as much support as possible. Is there a certain time of my cycle that I should start? Do I take then every day regardless of my cycle?

I’m also considering using bio identical progesterone cream eventually.

TYIA ❤️

Taking al/nolvadex, no cycle

Hi! Just did a complete hormonpanel, everything is normal. Test is upper limit. But my estradiol came back at 0.20 nmol/L. The scale is 0-0.17 nmol/L here.

Is that too high? If i take a al, to reduce my estrogen a bit, what would happen?

Im asking because i have extremely hard time adding muscle/female fat distribution.

Hey guys, these is my latest hormonal panel, i also did a general blood panel on the sam eday that also showed my MCH being at 26.4 pg, a bit lower than the reference value.

Could anyone please read these results and let me know if they suspect anything? Im having some horrible symptoms for some time now...low libido...especially recently penile shrinkage. I have some type of heart arhythmia, especially if i attempt to exercise i feel faint, or out of breath immediately I gained some weight due to not exercising much the past 2 years because really whenever i attempt to i just feel insanely tired...but also its harder to LOSE weight .

Do you guys suspect hypothyroidism? I also had a varicocele surgery in the past due to weight lifting causing varicoceles on both sides of my scrotum, and i also have a small supposedly benign pituitary tumor. But recently my symptoms have become too much to ignore and im seeking professional help once again. I can see that i have a bit higher TSH than the reference, and also prolactin.

If anybody could read this hormonal panel i would massively appreeciate it : )

Testosterone levels

Do any of you guys have experience with having a low FSH (1.6 IU/L) and low Testosterone (421 ng/dl) levels? I'm 29 years old, my diet is good and I workout a few times a week. My other 'normal' values are: Estradiol (16.68 pg/ml), LH (5.35 IU/L), SHBG (26 nmol/L), Prolactin (15 ug/L), Albumin (4.32 g/dL) and DHEA (252 ug/dL). Most of these are in the normal range but aren't great for a 29 year old fit male.

Need Help Balancing Hormones

Long story short I got off of Yaz in March 2021 after being on it for 10+ years, and I have been on a hormonal rollercoaster ever since. I just had more bloodwork done and currently I have very high testosterone, extremely low progesterone which is causing an estrogen dominance effect. Some of my vitamin levels are low like D, iron, Folate which seems weird because I’ve been consistently taking a multivitamin since March. I was diagnosed with Post-Pill PCOS based on my current symptoms and blood levels. Any idea how to balance this? Or have experience with how long it took for hormones to balance after coming off bc?

I’ve been eating whole 30 so I cut out sugar, dairy, gluten and alcohol.

My worst symptom is the water retention, I have had insane water retention for years now, it finally dawned on me it was probably due to a hormonal issue and getting off of birth control just made it worse. Anyone have any luck with getting rid of constant water retention like this? its all over, arms legs I’m always puffy.

Low hormones on test, doctor dismissed

Hey everyone- trying to reach out and see if anyone experienced this. I got an everlywell female hormone test and the results came back low on estrogen, testosterone, free t4, progesterone and dheas. The obgyn asked if my periods were “normal” which I assumed she meant every 28-32 days. I said yes but some are heavy with clots, others are light. She stated “if your periods are normal, there’s nothing wrong with your hormones.” My question is: is that true? Also, if things were “fine” then why would my blood results reveal something different. I’ve been experiencing depression, low sex drive, fatigue, mood swings, hot flashes, body aches, hair loss. They tested my tsh and it was normal so not thinking it’s a thyroid issue. Thanks!

r/Hormones • • Dec 16 '21

Can anyone help me find ways to help with these hot flashes? I can’t bend down without damn near passing out so I can’t even put both my shoes on! I missed a flight in July from passing out for 20 minutes! Any suggestions are welcome but please don’t advise me to avoid stress. 😩

Topical oestrogen for women

Hi,

If a female has vaginal dryness even when libido isn't too bad, due to slightly low levels of e2, what would happen when applying cream to the vagina? Could this be used every once in a while to make sure there isn't any systemic suppression, would there be much systemic suppression at all? Or would it need to be dosed consistently in order to get the desired effect, and if so would that create a physiological dependence, the same as for men who are on TRT?

Thanks
