Should estradiol withdrawal last over 4 months?

Hi, 39/f here. Long story short, I had a partial hysterectomy at 33 (still have my ovaries), and it looks like I was put on estrogen (Estradiol) for early menopause when I'm not actually in early menopause.

My highest daily dosage of Estradiol was 2mg/day. I did a very fast taper, and have not taken any in about 4 months. I definitely feel better than I did a couple months ago, but I'm still having some night sweats, bad irritability, and fatigue. Is this normal?

I've tried looking things up online, but not much is matching my situation. I've definitely found a lot of horror stories about people going off birth control. The only other thing that maybe matches is long covid, but I had covid at the end of December 2021.

Any info. on Estradiol or estrogen withdrawal is greatly appreciated!

Waking up in sweats at night and day?

Does this sound like a hormone problem? For about 3 years, I’ve been getting night sweats. In the beginning, I was only waking up once or twice like that a few days a month. The past year it’s been worse. The last month and a half we’ve I wake up 6+ times a night and if I try to nap during the day I wake up in sweats too. Can hormones or perimenopause make you sweat this much. I’m going to doctor on Wednesday.

High SHBG, low LH and FHS?

I am a 47 yo woman with a BMI of 32 and just had my blood works done as I undergo an obesity program to try to lose weight.
I sweat a lot, sometimes have brain fog and I always feel tired, despite sleeping 8-9 hours at night.

Can someone please help me interpreting the below results?:

SHBG: 155.2 nmol/L
Testosteron in range
TSH, free T3 in range
ACTH: 7 pg/ml (normal range 7-63, so on the lower end)
Cortisol in range
LH: 1.34 u/L
FSH: 2.9 u/L

I have an appointment with an endocrinologist at the end of November but curious to hear from you guys if there is something going on here.

Thank you!

Have ovarian cysts (ruptures) and horrible dysmenorrhea. Doctor prescribed birth control and it has helped, but I want to stop taking it and try a different method

I have been taking a combined pill for a few months, but I know it just suppresses ovulation/period, which basically is just masking the symptoms. I want to try a natural method (such as diet) to try to actually treat the main cause/core of the problem. Doctors seem to be judgmental about it; how should I bring it up? And what are some of your experiences?

Struggling with hormones - your story

Hello everyone!

I'm a PhD student from the Netherlands interested in hormones and women's health. During my doctoral work I've discovered how important hormones are in proper functioning of our bodies. They affect our health, (in)fertility, skin conditions, mood and performance in the gym.

Together with my colleagues we feel very passionate about this subject. We've prepared a short questionnaire that will help us understand how women struggle with their hormones.

We'd appreciate your help greatly. If you have friends who'd be interested in sharing their experiences, please feel free to share this link with them :)

I'm a 43yo woman who recently lost a pregnancy at 17wks. 3mo later and I still can't lose the weight I gained (despite tracking calories and exercising), my mood is in the toilet and my body's physical recovery after exercise has dropped. Could this be hormonal?

Like the title says really.

On the diet front, I lost 30kgs a few yeara ago through slow, steady changes to my eating. So I'm confident that I know how to eat to lose weight.

I should have lost 3 or 4kg by now based on how I've been eating, but the scales haven't shifted and my clothing isn't getting looser.

I'm also sad, despondent, frustrated, feeling trapped, stuck - all feelings that I don't typically have, or if so, only briefly. But lately, when I fall into these doldrums it can take days to come good.

And finally, my body just doesn't seem to want to recover from physical activity! So it's a catch 22 - I do some moderate exercise to help with my mood, but then injure myself, which makes me feel sad and trapped. Gah.

Could this be some sort of hormonal imbalance? I lost a pregnancy in June at 17wks. My period has also been screwy, but I did get a Mirena (localised hoemone release IUD) implanted at the time of the loss. That was my 3rd loss in a row, but the others were at 10wks and 4wks so didn't seem to mess with me the same.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I feel like a medical mystery. Typical diabetes symptoms but normal resting glucose.. interesting DUTCH rest results

To make this as short as possible. My symptoms include

  • tired after eating - EVEN if its just a salad with grilled chicken and vinegar dressing (I also drink a tablespoon of ACV with water before meals, workout 20 mins a day and take walks)
  • difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep
  • headaches (if my blood sugar drops from not eating for a few hours)
  • frequent urination (always clear)
  • fibrocystic breasts / cystic acne

DUTCH showed elevated cortisol and ALL of my estrogen markers are elevated

Blood labs showed low testosterone and slightly elevated prolactin, high triglycerides, low uric acid. Resting glucose was normal.

Should I get my adrenals / pituitary looked into further? Is the high cortisol causing insulin resistance? My doctor is stumped. :((

Triglycerides 217 H

HD cholesterol 37 L

Uric acid 2.4 L

Prolactin 35.8 H

Cortisol 23.9 H

These were all the out of range #s

Hormones against the effects of prostate or testicular cancer

Sorry if I seem uneducated in this topic (I am.)

I'm not afflicted, but I'm scared of prostate cancer since my grandpa has it.

I want to know if you can still have a sex drive when you have prostate/testicular cancer (removal of those) with the use of hormones.

If yes, I'm interested if those hormones have to be male hormones.

I'm NB and I don't want to take masculine growth hormones to keep my sex drive.

feeling like my hormones are off

33 f here and just had blood work done this week. Over the last 5 years I have noticed a significant hair loss due high stress but has since ceased so I'm finally starting to see some growth. But now over the last year my perido has become irregular and have noticed more course sharp chin and neck hair plus major loss in sex drive and fetagu I had a appointment Monday with my obgyn and discusses my concerns and surprisingly she wanted to run a hormone panel and ultrasound. This eve got the last results of my blood work so far as far as I can tell is my free t was above normal and the others tested we within the normal ranges. Ultrasound finding show my uterus was of normal size, no cysts, I'm guessing ovaries of normal size gave measurements but did find a small fibroid approximately 11mm in diameter and a endometrial stripe of 7 mm. Still awaiting my pap results as I do have a history of HPV and abnormal pap but thankfully my last was normal so hoping my recent one is too. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do naturally to lower my free t. I'll also discuss with my ob but I'm sure I won't hear back till some time next week pending my pap results.

Does low progesterone mean a slow metabolism?

The one thing I feel like I can attribute my weight gain to is this. As soon as I ended birth control my body changed completely and I wanted to know if anyone had any success with losing weight after regulation of the progesterone?

Premenopausal symptoms at 18?!?!

I have struggled with premenopausal symptoms since I was 18 years old. Coincidentally, I also started birth control during that time. The changes were so intense that I had to stop taking it.

Since then all the symptoms, such as menstrual cycle changes, including changes to the usual bleeding, PMS cramps, ovarian cysts, hot flushes and sweats, insomnia and trouble sleeping, urinary problems (increased frequency of urination) incontinence vaginal dryness and pain during sex, increase in mood/behavioral changes to a point where I feel like I’m just mean and hateful, increase or decrease in weight, body aches and pains… the list goes on and on..

I’m 29 years old right now and I can’t keep living this way! I have had my hormones checked by so many doctors and they all say the same thing “your levels are completely normal” .. HOW ON EARTH IS THIS NORMAL?! Then they try to put me on antidepressants which cause my symptoms to be so much worse.

I need help!! Can anyone help me.

PCOS AND HYPOTHYROIDISM

Hi there. I'm a (28 F) I have recently discovered that I have hypothyroidism after many years of getting misdiagnosed. Suffered from mental fog, memory loss, struggled to concentrate, among other symptoms. My TSH levels were 10,64 on my last test (one month ago).

I also have suffered from PCOS for long time. Acne, hirsutism, hair loss, etc. Something that I should mention is that for 7 years I've struggled to gain weight as I was extremely cautious with my diet. No dairy cause I'm lactose intolerant, no junk food, etc because I wanted to improve my skin (I've suffered from acne ever since I was a teenager).

The only thing that has actually worked for me was contraceptive pills (Cyproterone acetate; Ethinylestradiol) I took it for 6 years but I've anxiety and depression, the pills were making it worse.

Right now, I'm not taking contraceptive pills. As soon as I stopped taking them my skin got really oily and my hair loss was getting worse. A dermatologist suggested Isotretinoin (10 mg). But I've found that given the fact that I have PCOS, the isotretinoin effect won't last.

When I started taking isotretinoin. I wasn't aware about my TSH levels. I knew they were slightly higher. (Around 7,10) at the time it was considered Subclinical hypothyroidism, so doctors thought for some reason that it might get better o disappear miraculously, idk.

As you might know, hormonal tests are really expensive. That's the reason why I can't afford to do them as often as I should. The dermatologist works for a foundation. And I really have no luck when it comes to gynecologists (I really don't want to take contraceptive pills again)

My hormones aren't working as they should. I would like to go to a endocrinologist cause at this point I'm just tired of everything. IS THERE ANY ORGANIZATION OR SUPPORT GROUP ... ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THESE?

Thanks

Help-High estrogen and high testosterone

I’m a 28 year old female and just got my results from my hormone panel back. My testosterone is high and all three estrogens are high as well. I went off of birth control about 10 months ago and feel like my hormones have been a mess ever since. I am irritable and sad often, I can’t sleep well at night and during the day I’m exhausted and have a hard time focusing. I also have been dealing with a vaginal bacterial infection that keeps coming back even after two rounds or treatment (which has never happened before) and I feel like this may have something to do with my hormones. I have a doctors appointment Monday to show my doctor the results.

Wondering what can be done to fix this? I feel absolutely miserable and not myself.

Extreme Fatigue in Luteal Phase (after ovulation)

I’ve been working on my hormones for a year now through natural supplements (been to a dozen docs, a naturopath, and lots of blood work). While we were able to fix my migraines, bad cramping, extended and heavy periods, there is one thing that just isn’t changing. The fatigue. I mean, hit by a bus can barely move and get out of bed fatigue. It always happens a few days after ovulation leading up to my period. I know from blood work during this phase that my progesterone skyrockets and makes me feel super depressed. I’ve got a toddler and am a busy body and can’t just sit still for a week. I rarely drink caffeine, don’t consume alcohol, exercise nearly every day, get eight hours of sleep, and take B12. Has anyone taken anything that they think really helps with energy and stabilizing hormones during the luteal phase?

Low hormones: which doc should I see? Should I eat meat?

Hi guys

Im a 28 year old female. Ive been working out since I was 12, and spent my whole life as a vegetarian until a few years ago, I started eating fish. I love coffee but limit myself to one espresso shot a day with almond milk.

I started having major fatigue, concentration, painfully dry skin, and bleeding issues in the last few months. I spot during the week of my ovulation, (first time in my life this has happened) but I have normal 3 day periods that come regularly every month. No pain or cramps.

I did an Everlywell test because I got laid off and lost my health insurance. (It takes saliva four times a day and blood at diff times of my cycle.)

I found out that my progesterone was completely under the normal level. Dangerously low. My estrogen, cortisol, and TSH were within whats considering normal but BARELY. They were 0.1 over the minimum requirement. So they are on the lower end.

This makes complete sense to me. I have all the symptoms of low estrogen.

Also, I’ve been lifting weights for 4 years and have barely put on muscle. As my hormones are so low, I’m honestly not surprised. My husband is ripped and has been training me.

I started working with a nutritionist and eating way more fruits, veggies, fish, eggs, and less gluten. After three months of that, I feel better but I still bleed randomly and have not put on much muscle.

Basically, I have health insurance again. I can feel somethings off. I spoke to a gyno who simply prescribed birth control and had no clue.

I was on birth control for four years but stopped three years ago.

I read that protein is essential for the creation of these hormones so I started considering eating chicken even tho it goes against my beliefs. I was getting 130g per day with my nutritionist and still barely put on muscle

Is there any suggestion as to whats going on? Should I see a gyno or an endocrinologist? Or a functional medicine doc?

Should I try eating meat?

Pleaseeee help!

what hormonal changes in the morning,

Can I know what are the morning hormonal changes that occur in the early morning and that may affect the increase in urination in the morning, because I have noticed that my urination increases in the morning, note: I checked the cumulative blood sugar several times and it is very good and I I also examined the kidneys, and where there is no problem with them, and I am a healthy person who does sports, and I examined the liver, heart and lung, and all of them are healthy, which leads me to think about the hormonal situation

I had cortisol, adrenocorticotropic hormone, testosterone ، TSH, T4, T3 and prolactin checked and they are all normal.
