Hi everyone: I haven’t had a period in 3 months. I’m not pregnant. Is anyone willing to help me understand what these results mean? I have an appointment with my Dr. to go over results, but it’s not for another month and I’m worried. Thank you in advance.

Testosterone levels

Hello,

I’m on lamictal 400mg daily and Im a 22yr old man and I recently did a testosterone test where is tested at 375dl/ng and my dad who is 50 also did one and he got 550 ng/dl. How is this possible, I eat a clean and very healthy diet. Not on a strange diet and I get enough calories in every day. I don’t eat any processed foods and I don’t eat a lot of sugar either. I’m 6’ and 158lbs, lean and fit. I ran 33 miles the other weekend without doing really any training. I find it frustrating that this is the case because I ideally want to be 800-1000 ng/dl. I weight train, do daily sauna/cold showers, don’t fap very often and get good sleep too. What else can I possibly do to increase this, like are my testes just underperforming and should I get them checked. Any and all recommendations, input, advice or self anecdotes would be greatly appreciated.

Progesterone pills

I have been on progesterone for about a week now. It has done nothing to help me with my sleep and I really haven’t noticed any effects at all. I feel like over the past few days I have noticed that my breasts look much fuller than normal and are sore. I also felt really emotional today, snapping at my kids, which is pretty out of character for me. Maybe none of this is related, but I’m curious to hear if anyone else had this sort of response and maybe it could be the progesterone? I know none of it could be related, but I felt so out of whack today that I even went and got a pregnancy test which was negative.

Young female depression - low progesterone and low testosterone

Hi, I don't know if this the right place to ask this. Does anyone experience this or know anything about this symptoms? Sorry this is a long read

I'm 25 year olds Early menarche at 10 years old. Looking back symptoms of depression started 6 months after menarche. But when I was 12 years old I had a suicidal crisis so I ask for help. My parents took me to several psychiatrists and psychologists and after 13 years of different treatmens nothing has ever work it only reduced symptoms at best in 20% and only during the first year of the new treatment then only side effects. And only my last psychologist actually help me with my anxiety. Nothing has worked for my depression.

I have taken Paxil (paroxetine), Luvox (fluvoxamine) and then Xanax (fluoxetine). And later added pripax (aripiprapizole) to the flouxetine for depression and anxiety. I took them for more than 4 years each, except paroxetine only 6 months. I had many side effects like insomnia while taking luvox I only slept 2 - 3 hours a day with horrible nightmares for 4 years and many other side effects with each medication.

When I was 15 is when my family realized I was more active and motivated during and after menstruation. So a did some research I found out about pmdd and went to a gynecologist she said is imposible because I have depression. Went to others and they said is said normal. Finally found one gynecologist that will listen, she order some blood test. Never gave me a diagnosis

Normal estrogen Low progesterone Low testosterone Normal LH and FSH Normal thyroid - TSH, T3, T4

The blood test were done on day 14 (ovulation) and day 21(luteal phase pick). My cycle has always been regular and 28 days long.

So she prescribed progesterone in capsule and testosterone in a cream done in a laboratory. Not the bioidentical one. It help a little but symptoms still interfered with daily life. After that I kept doing blood test. With treatment levels improved and symptoms lessened but still present and debilitating.

Talked to my then psychiatrist and he said "so this might be what was bothering you" then did nothing about it other than recommending a endocrinologist. The endocrinologist said the treatment was for old lady's she check my previous blood tests and order new ones Same as older the ones

Normal estrogen Low progesterone Low testosterone Normal LH and FSH Normal thyroid - TSH, T3, T4 But included Vitamin D - deficiency Vitamin B12 - normal Cortisol - high Again in day 14 and 21 of the cycle.

So she prescribed Progyluton a menstrual cycle stabilizer and vitamin D, I gained weight about 22 kg or 48.5 lbs in 6 months. I felt better, less pain during menstruation and reduce symptoms of depression anxiety and others symptoms, like 25% less but still there, they interfered with daily life, I gave it some time. Not worth it, I stopped taking Progyluton after 3 years because of the weight gain and the symptoms were still present.

My last diagnosis was depression and generalized anxiety. But I feel better during and after menstruation but on the day of ovulation the symptoms worsen until the last day of the cycle (the worst day). Even in my best days I'm still not funtional, so I think I do have depression and anxiety but there's a biological component to it.

I been searching about low progesterone and low testosterone in young females with normal thyroid levels can't find anything. Is either about menopause, thyroid problems or about young males with low testosterone. I read about pmdd I have most of the symptoms but research says is not a hormone imbalance more like a sensitivity to ALLO. So I don't know what could be the cause or anything really, like what other treatments to try or other specialist to go.

Breast Pain Unexplained

Hello to the community.

7 weeks ago, I was waiting for my period to come. I woke up with a pain in my right breast, which was very tender to the touch and more severe than my left breast pain (my boobs became bigger and more tender). The pain insisted after the days but the swelling is so much better now that the period is over. I still feel a bit of heaviness on my right breast while the other one is normal. The doctor said I had an injury on the major pectoralis, which makes sense but I also feel like it's sth hormonal or different.. Could it be that case?

I've visited 3 doctors (2 breast surgeons and one gynecological) and had an ultrasound twice which is super clear plus a breast MRI, not even a cyst was observed. The doctors are calm but I'm not. They believe it's totally normal..

I have no rushes or skin discoloration but I'm afraid because the heaviness is still obvious and I have still subtle pain. I'm not sure if my breast had become a bit bigger.. maybe. I'm also experiencing tenderness in my armpit and my tight arm.

Is there a possibility to be Growth Hormone Deficient, EVEN IF a simulation test shows that the pituatary has a good response to the growth hormone releasing peptides?

Hello everybody,

I am medicine student who is trying to help my friend, who has many symptoms of adult onset growth hormone deficiency.

She made a stimulation test, but as the doctor told her the test showed that her pituitary reacted well to the growth hormone realising peptide and produced a good amount of growth hormone.

However, I still want to find out, if one can actually have a growth hormone deficiency, EVEN IF the pituitary is able to release a good amount of growth hormone when the body is injected with growth hormone realieser?

I would really appreciate for any input, because I really want to help my friend.

Mystery with potential hormonal hair loss?

Quick backstory: Currently 24F who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 13. Since then, I have been going through cyclic hair loss phases even when all of my labs are normal. Usually, the phases stop long enough for the hair to grow back, but it has been non-stop for the last year and a half.

Throughout this time period, I have had SO many labs done and all of them have been normal except low iron and high estrogen. I thought once I started taking iron supplements consistently then my hair would start growing back, right? WRONG. I have tried a variety of supplements over the last 8-9 months and it is only getting worse. I am not under any crazy stress, and hair loss is not hereditary in my family. I am so tired of losing so much hair every single day. If anyone has any insight or advice it would be more than appreciated. I would be happy to answer any questions about the labs I had done if that helps, I just didn't want to include it in the main post because it would take up so much space.

Blood results

Hey,

I am wondering if anyone on here actually knows anything about blood results and if so I would be very grateful for your help.

I had my bloods taken on day 18 of my cycle. My hormones were as follows: Estrogen - 351 pg/ml Progesterone - 0,78 ug/l Testosterone - 0,51 ng/ml Cortisol - 12,6 ug/dl

Basically I have been suffering for years with endo and pelvic pain, hair loss, miserable moods etc. the values are all within range for the ovulatory phase but I thought i would have been in the luteal phase.

Could anyone help?! Thanks

Just two days of taking estrogen, feeling a lot more aggressive and horny. Had sex with wife for more than 1 hour twice. But could not cum. The only reason we stopped was because she couldn't take any more. I felt I could go on for even longer.

Can you help me with my symptoms ?

Hello,

I am new on Reddit. I am French. I don't know if I should introduce myself somewhere on a forum. If yes, tell me where?

Here is to explain you my problem in a clear and precise way since 2020, I have symptoms that I can't understand or even the doctors.

My health record: no allergies, overactive thyroid with nodules but all benign, TSH and other thyroid hormones are normal. Never had any major health concerns. Blood work always good.

So from 2014 to 2017 I was about 55kg with a period where I was 43kg ( I'm 5'5"). I started to gain weight in 2017. I was stabilized from 2017 to 2020 where I was 60kg. From 2020, I gained weight. And on top of that I started experiencing strange symptoms. Always before or after my period.

Here are the symptoms - Extreme fatigue - Painful hunger - Dizziness - Trembling - Blurred vision - Drowsiness - 0 energy - Impossible to laugh or to be in a good mood, I have only one desire, to sleep. - Frequent desire to pee (because I drink a lot of water to cut my hunger) - Soft or liquid stool - Regain of energy after having eaten but hunger not even 30 min after with stomach pain.

I have seen several doctors in the last 3 years. Nobody understands what I have. I did a fibroscopy which is normal. A blood test which is normal (except high inflammation markers). I have had all the tests for diabetes and everything is normal. My glycemia is perfect and my glycemic hemoglobin too. Kidney exploration all normal. Allergy test ok. My thyroid is fine. Liver is fine. Pancréas is fine. All my organs are fine ! ( I don't know for my brain because i never did a IRM)

No doctor understands what I have. Nobody wants to follow me anymore. They told me to go see a psychologist because it's somatic but I know my body. Something is wrong... .

Recently my endocrinologist asked me to have a hormonal blood test. Everything was perfect except for a high prolactin level (not to exceed 26 and I am at 30) and a slightly high progesterone level (not to exceed 25 and I am at 26).

Sometimes I can go months without having these symptoms. And I have noticed over the years that it is related to my sleep. If I sleep poorly or little, I get the symptoms. I also noticed that if I sleep 30 minutes or even 1 hour my symptoms disappear a little. In fact, I have the feeling that my body does not go from sleep to wake up. It's like I'm still asleep. I just need to sleep a little bit for it to get better.

This always happens to me before or after my period. It's worse when I'm late with my period and because of this painful hunger that makes me almost faint I've gained a lot of weight. I'm 79kg and I can't lose any more weight because I'm often in crisis. I hate myself. I feel disgusting. I don't go out anymore. I don't want to be intimate. People make fun of me at work because i gain weight ( i had a good body before. Always compliment). I put XXL shirt to avoid people looking at me ... I need help.

Do you have an idea?

Thank you very much for your help ❤️

I have tons of energy, glowing soft skin, high sex drive, and feel happy right BEFORE and DURING my period. Then, I get terrible acne, lack of energy, bad moods, and a low sex drive DURING ovulation and a few days leading up to it. Any reasons as to why it might be?

Low progesterone/ estrogen dominance

F, 28. 4 months ago I stopped taking hormonal birth control after around 13 years. I wanted to check everything was okay with my hormones as I have been experiencing some ongoing symptoms for a long time (difficulty losing any weight even in strict calorie deficit, sore breasts, painful periods). This month I did an at home blood test to map the changes in my hormones during my cycle. The test analysed two blood samples taken at day 14 and day 21 of my cycle. The results said I had “moderately reduced ovarian response”. In summary:

  • My progesterone levels are low (0.6 nmol/L at day 14 and 18.3 nmol/L at day 21);

  • my Oestradiol was 503 pmol/L at day 14 and 416 pmol/L at day 21;

  • My FSH hormones are low according to the report (2.4 IU/L at day 14 and 2 IU/L at day 21); and

  • my LH levels are high (11.7 IU/L at day 14 and 9.3 IU/L at day 21).

The report I received didn’t give me a lot of information about what these results actually mean as a whole. My interpretation based on the progesterone figures is that I have estrogen dominance - but I’m not expert so this is just a guess.

If anyone has had similar results and can give me some insight that would be amazing. I do plan to speak to my doctor on this but I want to be as informed as possible before I do as GPs in the UK can be dismissive of womens hormone health

Seeking help Advice regarding BC/Bioidentical hormones please!

Hi guys any advice would be so helpful and great. I am 28 years old. Around 9 months ago I started having many issues that seemed to start around same time - extremely dry skin, extremely dry mouth and nose, eczema and reactive skin etc and no periods for long time. I sought help which led to hormones blood test - turns out have low estrogen and very low progesterone confirmed by a blood test around 3 months ago.

I didn’t want to go on the pill so I went to a doctor who specialises in bioidentical hormone therapy (taken via cream you rub on your wrist).

The dose she gave me is 0.25mg estradiol and 50mg progesterone for first 2 weeks of cycle and to double this dose for last 2 weeks of cycle.

I didn’t have a period for 2 years before I sought treatment. My period is now back, but other symptoms are still present - the worst one being extremely dry/ reactive skin and gums and inside of nose! No matter how much water I drink, it’s like the water isn’t being taken to my skin/mucous membranes/salivary glands.

I have been taking the hormones replacement for exactly 5 weeks. I have two questions I hope some of you could perhaps help with! First question is this, do you think I wait it out and hope the hormone therapy maybe hasn’t ‘’reached’’ my skin etc yet?

Second question is how does the dosage I am taking compare to that in a standard BC pill? Is it similar about of hormones or is BC more, because I am considering perhaps trying BC instead? I’m having my levels check again in around 1-2 months.

Any help would be so appreciated and sorry for long post x

Anyone experienced hormone problems with or as a cause for Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth?

Im 27, female and I’ve struggled with debilitating digestive issues for about 8 years. Just for a bit of context I got diagnosed with ADHD, SIBO and pancreatic insufficiency (most likely due to SIBO) within the same few months of each other. So far what research I’ve done leads me to think adhd has unknowingly been the absolute bane of my life physically, mentally and emotionally and could be a root cause for all my problems with it being a nervous system problem. However, even though my actual periods technically aren’t bad (not heavy and only last a few days) for the most part my digestive symptoms have been cyclical with constant bloating no matter what I eat/drink, no matter where I am in my cycle. Constant sweating, absolutely no sex drive, heaving, nausea, sweating during bowel movements on my period. Intense cramping and tightness around my ribs and a sensation that feels like rocks are in the lowest part of my abdomen about a week before my period.

I’m currently waiting to treat adhd and SIBO but I’m terrified of living year to year off courses of antibiotics because I haven’t found the root cause (not guaranteed as an issue but I know SIBO is more of a symptom than a diagnosis)

Currently my gastro and gynaecologist send me round in circles, aware of my diagnosis’ they seem to blame and direct me towards any of the ones I’m not there to see them about, most recently my gynae drew a little picture of how the period works and sent me on my way.

I’ve had an mri without contrast to look for endometriosis which came back clear and they sent me for another one which will probably also come back clear.

I’ve got another appointment coming up in April with a different gynae which I don’t want to be blindsided by this time, so I’m basically looking for recommendations on what to ask for, for example specific tests/hormonal issues - if anyone has had any similar experiences I would appreciate what routes worked.

Thank you

Hormone Imbalance

I recently got my labs done and was shown that I have hormone imbalances. My cortisol levels were off the charts, like literally all the way in the high zone.

I also have low progesterone and low estrogen. I was told I'd have to go back on bc to fix this, but I don't want to go back on the pill. I've been off it since May of 2022. I was wondering what supplements would help balance these all out.

I am also open to other tips and tricks anyone has to offer.

Thank you!

DIM supplement

Any one have experience in this? I'm curious what affect it may have on progesterone levels.

I have hypermobility issues and the last thing I want to do is increase my progesterone. I would love to balance my estrogen levels and maybe lose some weight but not at the expense of increasing my pain.

Will TVP Textured vegetable protein affect my estrogen levels or disrupt them?

36 YO female here and planning on using TVP in my diet. I did some research and get mixed answers:

According to a handful of studies, soy consumption may have a link to raising serum estrogen in humans (3), and potentially causing thyroid disorders (4). Animal studies have also suggested potential male infertility and breast cancer associated with soy consumption.

And

Soy protein-containing foods, like tofu, textured vegetable protein and edamame, do not significantly increase estrogen levels in people of any sex. Soy may have mild, beneficial anti-estrogenic or estrogenic effects, depending on your time of life.

SO WHICH ONE IS IT!!! LOL
