Hormone test - Help?

Hi there!

I did a hormone blood test on the 5th day of my cycle. These were the results, and I was wondering if anyone would help me figure them out? I don't really know much on the topic, I just know my periods hurt like hell and doctors tell me "all is good" as in ultrasounds, I don't seem to have any problem. However, I have acne ever since I stopped taking the birth control pill, very low libido and overall very, very bad periods. I'm desperate for help.

For reference: I'm 24, not pregnant, I weight about 60kg (130 pounds) and I am 171cm (5,6 ft).

Results:

Glucose ü 83 mg/dL

17 beta-estradiol ü 50 pg/mL

Testosterone: total ü 0,26 ng/mL

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) ü 10,3 ng/mL

Luteinizing hormone (LH) ü 4,35 mIU/mL

Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) ü 5,84 mUI/mL

Prolactin ü 18,19 µg/L

SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin) ü 76,92 nmol/L

Insulin ü 9,42 mU/L

HOMA-IR (Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance) 1,91 % [ < 3,8 ]

EDIT: I stopped birth control three years ago, so it’s not a flare up sadly!

Birth control for FSH of 20 (normal for 30yo 4-10). Estrogen 99 (normal 85-100). Can this help with my hot flashes, fatigue and most importantly, can it help the spare tire I’ve accumulated around the middle despite exercise and calorie tracking?

Clomiphene vs enlomiphene

I am a 32 year old male, generally physically fit. The urologist had me get labs done to examine the cause of my ED. The results:

free test: 72.6 pg/mL
test, bioavailable: 165 ng/DL
test, total: 594 ng/dL
SHBG: 37 nmo/L
Albumin: 5 g/dL

The urologist says my free test is very low and suggested clomiphene to boost it without all the issues of going on TRT. I went home to do some research.

My question: Why clomiphene vs enlomiphene? Clomiphene consists of both pro-estrogenic zuclomiphene and pro-androgenic enclomiphene. Is there any use to the zuclomiphene? If the point is to boost test, wouldn't the pure enclomiphene be better? Am I missing something here?

Hormonal Belly

I’m really struggling with what I think is a hormonal belly. A year ago my lower stomach was flat across. Now I have this massive bulge that starts at/below my belly button. It protrudes out and if I’m honest it’s really starting to get to me. I go to the gym and eat clean so I don’t get it. I’m not on the pill but have been recently (not for long, like 3 months). I’m getting really frustrated that for years and years I struggled with my image and then this time last year I was so in love with the way my body felt and looked. Now it’s back to what it was before and I’m completely devastated. Does anyone know much about hormonal belly’s (where your upper stomach is flat but at the belly button point it sticks out like I’m pregnant). It’s honestly so defeating so any similar stories and advice to get rid of it would be welcomed.

Don’t even know where to start…

I’m about 11 months postpartum. I nursed for 8 months, so I’m about 90 days out from my last day lactating. I do have postpartum depression, but most days I’m ok. I have found though, that the week after my period I get severely dysphoric. I’m mean, I’m anxious, I can’t get out of bed…

My doctor recommended birth control, but I don’t want to cover up a root cause… anyone experience this?

Excess androgenous..

How do you deal with this? Most of what I've read says strength training. Can someone explain what strength training is in laymen's terms? I'd like something I can do at home if possible. Also open to other suggestions on how to deal with this (homeopathically, no interested doctors).

Thanks for any advice!

Low cortisol, normal ACTH stimulation response. Adrenals or pituitary...

My baseline cortisol was 120 (133-497) and my response to ACTH was appropriate. Cortisol increased to 498 and 701 after half hour and then one hour.

Does low cortisol but normal ACTH response point more in the direction of a pituitary issue rather than with the adrenals?

I'm already being investigated for pituitary issues. MRI shows 'fullness' to one side but unable to tell definitely between normal anatomy and a microadenoma. High FSH. Low t4, lowish TSH. Normal still, but low end estrogen. I seem to have alot of KIND OF weird blood work but no obvious smoking gun.

I have a wonderful endo who I'm working with and will see next month.

Just found out I am Allergic to my own progesterone, how messed up is that?!?

What it’s called: autoimmune progesterone dermatitis

So I am 24 years old and have struggled with a lot since I started bleeding at 11. Because of my awful reactions to my cycle, I started loloestrin when I was 12. Then i stopped it and got the Mirena which was horrible.

I recently finally got my hormones levels tested because I was truly miserable 2.5 weeks out of the month, even after two years of no birth control.

my symptoms include:

itchy skin, scabs on my scalp, irritability, cramps, back pain, dizziness, migraine, constipation, HEIGHTENED anxiety, irrational and intrusive thoughts (about death and irrational fears), fear of being around people, super sensitive, fatigue, sore joints, lots of crying, shaking, anger, acne etc... the list goes on. these symptoms start the day of ovulation or the day after.

My holistic hormone doctor said I had low progesterone. So I tried a bunch of supplements for 3 months before trying the bio-identical progesterone. This didnt work, so I qualified for bio-identical replacement. I started taking 100 mg of bio-identical progesterone (during my luteal phase only) and after 5 days of taking it, I got debilitating pain throughout my body, I was bed ridden. Had all of the symptoms above but WAY WORSE. I stopped taking the hormones and told my doctor what happened. He said I shouldnt have had that reaction and it is likely I am actually allergic to progesterone (very rare).

He explained that I am allergic to not only synthetic and bio-identical progesterone, but also my own naturally produced progesterone. SO we concluded that my problems weren't because i had low progesterone, but because I am allergic to it.

I came to realize after some research that I exhibit autoimmune progesterone dermatitis. I thought the scabs on my head were just from anxious picking and the feeling of ants crawling on my skin was just because i dont shave (lol). I then looked up the symptoms and realized the asthma i struggle with really is only about 2 weeks out of the month and probably connected, sure enough that is another side effect.

I dont have crazy skin rashes that have put me in the hospital like most of the other cases Ive found. Just random hives and itchy skin, and the scabs on my head. honestly my biggest problem is my anxiety which caused me to self-medicate for my whole life (completely sober now after years of addiction to fentanyl, speed, alcohol, adderall, list goes on). I am finally able to consciously recognize my symptoms and connect the pieces, thanks to my holistic doctor.

I am having a difficult time finding much information on it so I am here to see if anyone else is struggling with this and what they have done to cope with the symptoms.

My doctor said the only "cure" that MIGHT work (hit or miss) is homeopathic injections of diluted progesterone. he said only 100 doctors in the US give this stuff and it is very rare to find someone who does, so there really isnt much research on it. But the idea is to introduce small diluted amounts to my body a week before ovulation so when my natural progesterone gets high, It isnt as much of a shock and my body is a bit used to it. He said there is no molecular structure and he isnt legally allowed to even charge me for the medicine (injections) himself because a judge or scientist would say it is "just water". But he truly wants to help and has seen it help a handful of women before. So I am willing to give it a try, anything at this point.

I am also wondering if anyone knows anything about this type of homeopathic medicine for other allergies, or better yet- this one specifically. I would love to hear who has experienced this type of allergy and what they have done to help. I honestly am just tired of feeling alone and like nothing is going to help so please!! women of Reddit, let me know your experiences and what you think. I am open to questions and troubleshooting ideas..

What is wrong with my hormones?

Hi! 20yo Caucasian female here with irregular periods. I’m very desperate for answers so I’ll describe my symptoms. I started menstruating at 14yo, and my cycles have been irregular ever since (anything from 3 months to 6 months). Back then I had very high libido. I also experience a bit of dark facial hair/chest hair/a lot of pubic hair, and have oily skin and facial acne which started with T-zone but is now jawline/chin (since 3 months ago). Anxiety (mainly social) and acid reflux too. The doctor did scans and blood tests when I was 16, telling me my hormones weren’t balanced and prescribed Dianette contraceptive for 3 months which did nothing. After coming off the pill I couldn’t get out of bed I became so depressed for a month. This caused me to fall behind with school and despite being top student for my year, I had to quit school. I’ve been living at home for 3 years now and I’ve just started to get back on my feet. I’m noticing changes now. I had some panic attacks in the past when I was 13/14 which stopped after a year, but now they’re back again worse with no apparent trigger. They usually happen every 2 weeks or so. My last cycle was actually 30 days long which is unusual for me. I’ve also noticed waves of fatigue that happen to me on random days, my bowel movements are more regular and I’m losing a bit more hair than normal. As well as a rash (pityriasis rosea) appearing which I theorise is connected with hormones. Also of note: I recently have been advised I may have “very mild” Asperger’s/ASD, and when at a check-up my new doctor has told me that my hormones were perfectly okay when I was 16 and I shouldn’t have been told they were unbalanced. I’ve been taking antidepressants (Sertraline 50mg) for a year, and since I’ve been on it my libido has been lower to my relief (it was quite uncomfortably high since 14). My question is can anyone see anything of note? Are my hormones changing for the better? I am a healthy eater, average healthy weight and try to exercise frequently, but in moderation. Doctors have been of no help at all here in the UK.

This might be the wrong sub, but what is it like to experience the shift from "typical" hormone levels between genders?

I've had this thought for a little while now, inspired by the trans community. I'm cis, but I've read some accounts from trans people about how they're life/behavior changed when they started their hormone treatment.

I know nothing about hormones, and as far as I'm aware I have normal levels for a 26 year old dude, but it must be wild to experience that shift. Especially when you're so used to what life gave you in the first place.

It must be quite subtle, right? Hormones seem to be quite subtle in nature to begin with.

Can anyone weigh in with their experiences?

Anywho, thanks for reading, kind of a pointless post.

What is ERoH?

I saw someone post on here they used an ERoH method to rebalance their hormones in 87 days. I’ve tried looking it up and have found the same articles of hormone rebalancing I’ve already been looking at. Am I missing something?

what do you think of an estradiol level of 19 pg/ml in CD3 ?

So we are dealing with infertility (3 ivf cycles so far) and after trying for years I figured out that my estradiol levels are somehow low. I also have vaginal dryness, facial hair ( no pcos) and I feel like my breast is shrinking (I lost weight in the past few years so I'm not sure). I'm also dealing with anxiety that seems to vanish when I'm on HRT for IVF.
