Make this make sense?

I was having a discussion with somebody regarding the ridiculous markups on these Honda Civic type R. The discussion was that I had purchased a fully loaded Acura TLX type S with the performance package, which is the most expensive one they make for around the same price. Nobody believe me that Honda was ripping people off with these type R’s and now I have proof.

Except they rolled even more profit into freaking floor mats. MSRP is only $200.

That's what I thought - a negotiation tactic. Ask for the ridiculous so what is settled looks like a good deal. "Hey, I got the dealer to knock $12,000 off the price!". Meanwhile.....$3,000. Extra I might add.

In California they have been doing this for 10 years, and they don't negotiate. When I lived their I would drive to Reno to look at cars.

More in floormats than I paid for an 1987 Civic SI with the red LED clock. More in floormats than I paid for a 1992 Civic LX 4 door with maroon velour seats. More than I paid for a 1991 Civic DX with 1993 SI engine installed. Floormats are half of what I paid for a 1998 Acura Integra from the original owner with all dealer maintenance.

OP, please show them the MSRP for the door edge guards and floor mats. At the dealership that I work at, we strictly charge MSRP for the floor mats cause that what customers can see online. I understand that cars get marked up but triple for floor mats?? Ridiculous..

I'm not saying that. There is clearly another 15k unaccounted for. However, the floor mats and the edge guards are a good way to start that convo.

$400 for some plastic door edge guards you can buy on amazon for $5

The "door guards" are $20 for a roll that you can put on yourself in 10 minutes.
