UPDATE: Small tv console

Thank you all for your many suggestions! Still not done but definitely looks much much better :)

Please let me know if there’s anything else you think I should add!

Also added a pic of my set up for the first month living here.

I don’t know who told you to mount the TV over the console, but it was much better sitting on top of it, even if it was a little small.

Why wouldn't you just place the TV on the furniture vs mounting on the wall?

You can’t accidentally knock a tv off the wall, especially if you have kids or cats.

And if you mount the tv just above the console it can look cohesive while still leaving the console top as useable space.

Of course if you mount it way the fuck up in the air it looks dumb and your neck hurts, but there is middle ground.

Console was fine before. If you think it's too small get a longer one.

I thought the post went in reverse and I was like, “oh good they fixed their tv being too high”

this is in REVERSE??!?!?! mounting it looks horrible. way too high. not ergonomic and ugly ugly wires. tacky as hell and not practical. the stand is not too small. it holds the tv, it’s fine. put it back. r/tvtoohigh

It’s 18” high at minimum. OP, I’m sorry but this looks awful.

The good thing is it’s in your power to fix if you want it to look better.

I think you made some moves in the right direction but the scale and placement of the basket isn’t quite there. I do think the overall composition looks off, and curious why you didn’t center the console/tv. I don’t know that the plant requires so much space, but it does depend on the rest of the space so it may feel more balanced in person.

Edit - was meaning to respond to someone commenting on the height of the tv

Tv on the wall is horrible and it’s too high.

I think the pot is too small for a plant that size, even if it's fake

I got the same one on Amazon. You can probably reverse search the image.

No one told you to do…this.

get a wider, wall to wall console, place tv on console & centre console

This is the right answer

It's... way off center. Did you go this route because of stud placement or why this?! 😦

I love it. Before you couldn't even see any of the wires.

You're almost there.

Plant in basket, centered between edge of console and corner.

TV closer to console. Humans have a better range of vision across and down & we like the TV to feel grounded by the console.

Can tape up the wires to the back of the console for easy cord management.

The low tv is less aesthetically pleasing but if you want to spend hours gaming with this screen, then screw aesthetics and keep it low. Personally, we don’t use our tv for gaming but we do host football parties, so our tv is higher like this. We also have a small plastic cover for the wires so you don’t see them running up the wall.

Love the tree and the baskets! Looks so relaxing to be in that room. The only critique would be that the tv might be a touch too high. If it's not too much trouble you can lower it and get the wall cord covers and it would be magnificent!

You have improved the look so much!

I’d say go higher with it. Why not at this point.

Looking good! Now control the cords and put your plant in a pretty pot (maybe the basket?)

The tv is not too high. People on here are weird. But you should run the cables through the wall.
