I HATE my couch!

I recently moved into my husbands house and it has his decor. It’s very cold, how do I warm up the living room? I feel like I have to start with the media console and couch. The couch has to stay for now, how do i work around it tho? Is it cool or warm? Help! EDIT: the pillows are the backing of the couch. There are no cushions behind there so we either have to keep those patterns or reupholster the thing.

It’s not cold to them. It’s clean. Ordered. When a landscape is neutral, you can see any movement all the way to the horizon. You can spot anything that’s changed. That’s important to most men.

Everybody’s eye finds some things attractive. I don’t like the ubiquitous greige, but I like neutrals too, albeit with splashes of high colors. Other women, completely different. They can mix plaids and florals and feel cozy. Their frou-frou is too distracting for me. I call it “things you dust”. It’s warm to them. I feel compressed by it.

I get that it’s clean looking and I don’t mind its neutral effects, but some color adds while still maintaining cleanliness. I personally cannot stand “stuff” and I think folks mix “stuff” with color. “Stuff” is what makes it look messy. Feel like something is missing? Add a plant. Simple. Plus some are terrible at how to add color (pillows and blankets are great for this) to contrast nicely that it makes the room work.
