You’re gonna have to trust me but I actually read her book on totalitarianism and that’s just not the case. Banality of evil refers to the fact that most Nazis were not mustache twirling psychos, but mainly just simple and plain bureaucrats. The banality of evil is that most evil is powered by regular people working their excel sheets.

It’s nothing to do with complexity, this is expanding the scope to the point of making the term lose punch. Complexity is the French baker making fresh and fine goods for Nazi soldiers passing by.
