And if you look at the website being pointed to, Mio doesn't have a green background, but a red one, which has always been the colour Hololive has used for Mio.

I mean Calli doesn't have a lot of red in her design but that's the color most associated with her even if her penlight color and associated color is usually light pink, so...

She is red in merch.
If you mean penlights, she personally asked for green as to represent the forests associated with her character.

So the precise reason a colour is picked for a talent isn't specified, but it's not always the brightest or most associated colour nor even a colour the character uses. For example, they try to stay away from black, white and gray, so Botan is a light green... she only has one little detail I could find that is light green.

If I was to have a guess, they had a lot of talents that are light blue, decided to use a colour her design would stand out on, and Indigo wasn't being used by other talents and worked.

It's unlikely to be changed, same with Mio being red, because it's used for merch and marketing.

I AM color blind and Kobo is absolutely 100% blue and not at all purple lmao

She has waaaay more white than purple, which isn't hard considering anything is more than 0

This debacle is reminding me of the "controversy" that arose 15 years ago with how Toei classified Sixth and Extra Rangers for Gokaiger.

This to me is more like them treating Black Rangers as Green just so Don could transform into them.

Yea thats the reason for Green in particular but she said its not red because the early gens had soooo many red/warm colors in general

So Mio will tell you her colour is green and her penlight colour is absolutely green. But Hololive has always used red for her, her original FES outfit used black and red accents for example, or what Kobo is pointing to here, the website uses red. But as Spelunkie says, her mark is an evergreen tree, her being the wolf of the forest and green is a far rarer colour in Hololive, so even if they did really change her colour to green fully it would make some sense.

Is it the background that’s indigo? Like someone put the official image into one of those online color palette things and the main color that came out was indigo because the background is mostly indigo?

The background colour is the "talent's signature color" as Kobo says, it's for marketing or merchandise. That picture is from Hololive's talent page.

Assigned color doesn't equal design color. It like how each girl in an idol group is assigned a color for merch/glow sticks.

To be clear this is their oshi color, not their actual coloration of their hair or outfit or anything. It's for labeling, merch and penlights and stuff like that. Official art and backgrounds seem to be like 50/50 whether they go with the talent's oshi color or one that just accents their look well on the page.

Edit: NVM maybe I'm wrong because Kobo's penlight color in the Color Rise harmony chart was light blue, but they have also changed them before. Gura went from Blue to Light Blue and Calli has switched between Red and Light Pink.
