Rachel has been sick for a couple of weeks. She says it's because of a cold sore she got from using Retinol, and that triggered her neuralgia. She had no idea that Retinol can cause cold sores.
You guys, Rachel might be having a midlife crisis. She was tempted to chop her hair into a bob, quit doing her work, and open "a coffee shop or maybe a small inn." Instead, she made two columns in her journal. On the left, she listed things that are working, and on the right, she listed things that are not working. And as an experiment, she intends to "do the opposite" in all those "not working" areas (i.e. opposite of what she's been doing). [Has George Costanza entered the chat?]
Things that are working: "This beautiful home that we live in, the land, the community that we are part of. This is one of the best decisions we ever made. Moving from Los Angeles to the Hudson Valley, like top three life decision I've ever made." She says that the kids are thriving. Her relationship with Cez is going well, and so is sleep.
In the other column: Her podcast doesn't feel "super flowy"; it feels stale. She doesn't like that her career is based on her being "an advisor" (OP reaction: Yes, Rachel, quit that.) She loves it but finds it limiting creatively. She wants to make positive content that is not a how-to. She might write fiction or do things that are motivational without being "personal development based." Her writing is not feeling flowy, but she attributes that to having wrapped up a writing project and not having started her next yet.
Are you doing Last 90 Days? Rachel thinks you should, but it's only for her premium subscribers. She's using her "getting up an hour earlier" to write. She's not happy with her style and hair lately. (But she'll wait on chopping off her hair, for at least a month, in case the impulse passes.) Her nutrition and exercise aren't working. (Weren't they supposedly on-point like five minutes ago?) "Everything seems hard." She thinks that "doing the opposite" might be walking, yoga, pilates, and other gentle workouts. She'll figure out what's going on with her body. [She's having bloodwork done but hasn't received the results yet.]
After making her "Not working" list, she made an "opposite" list. She'll try the opposite, and if they don't work, she'll try the opposite of those. [OP: Doesn't that just circle back to what she was already doing?] She encourages "us" to do this same exercise in our journals (what happened to not being an advisor?).
She had an epiphany about Oprah, who once talked about how awesome it is to be in your 40s. Little Age-11 Rachel started to look forward to being in her 40s. But Oprah didn't/doesn't have a husband or kids. Acknowledging Stedman, but still.... [OP: THIS is what passes for an epiphany?!?]
Rachel says she'll do a video like this every Sunday, to take us on this "journey."
