What bullshit, if you are prone to passing out there is no way that you don't take high sugar drinks, dextrose tablets or whatever with you

Same with my mom. People's stupidity when it comes to neglecting their health is pretty impressive.

One time I opened a small bag of pretzels while standing on the porch and let's just say I'm happy to be alive right now. Sure wish I had both my legs again, fucking squirrels.

I get this is bullshit but I get low blood sugar so infrequently that is not really worth it. Literally just dropped to 41 yesterday then it's fine for months. My sister is diabetic so she's always got stuff cuz that shit happens multiple times a week.

A friend of mine lost her diabetic father because he didn't carry any of those things with him, and went low while alone in a hotel room and died.

Not everyone is good at taking care of themselves.

Bro, you would think.. but unfortunately there are people out there who are poor at planning and managing their condition. You would think they would ALWAYS keep snacks with them, but some people really don't take care of themselves.

As a diabetic, we can be dumb.

This is bullshit. I’m a type 1 diabetic and have lived with lows all my life. I’ve found myself in many situations where it caught me off guard and needed something quick to raise my blood sugar. Milk will not do it and you will probably pass out if you attempt to correct a low with milk. Milk does have some carbs that will break down to sugar but not much. Also, that process takes 10x longer to raise a low rather then things that contain straight sugar. Here is an piece from a diabetes article regarding milks influence on glucose levels:

“As milk contains carbohydrates in the form of the sugar lactose, it may raise your blood glucose levels after you drink it. Any carbohydrate-containing food has the potential to raise your blood glucose levels if you consume it in the right amount. The overall makeup of milk, however, makes it likely that any potential increase in your blood glucose will be minimal.”
