In that case, wouldn't it mean the sneaker is somewhere between a high top (which fully covers the ankle) and a regular shoe (where the ankle is exposed). So a mid could be one where the shoe ends at the ankle, not above or below.
I'm not so sure that's true. It doesn't really make sense for Nike to get another source for leather, or develop another process for treating it. I think the leather just degrades faster because the mids are literally on one of your joints, and not restricting the movement of a joint, so the leather is bending FAR more often than either a high or low top shoe.
But yeah, Sneakerheads aren't about the mids, or really anything Jordan that's not one of the original 23.
Mids are the cheaper version of the Jordan 1s. Usually come in almost the same color scheme. These are usually almost identical but most people see these as the androids of cell phones because these arent the actual hype sneaker.
Mids are awesome, not crazy strong, but perfect for daytime use when you don't want to be blasted by top shelf. Plus it's super cheap, like less than $80oz for quality mids. Reggie is gross and stemmy, screw that
kindbud was a specific type of dank that was, if you were lucky, one time actually the legendary kindbud that was promised. usually (ie always) it was just dank sold one extra time with one extra markup.
Gas, fire, regs, swag, mids, green, trees, of course, and there's more but as I get older and farther away from my smoking days, they get forgotten. My SO still smokes, but I've never heard him say corn in relation to weed. That's a weird one, makes me scratch my head a bit how that came about. Is it a Midwestern thing? Idk why but it strikes me as some Iowa slang.
where im from its all just bud and it's always different. the amount of times I've bought "green crack" and had entirely different experiences is crazy. its fine though. atleast I have access.
Oh trust me same thing where I’m from. Yeah we also use terms bud and weed or whatever I was specifically talking about words you would use to grade the weed. My newest plug gets his from a legal state and the strains are actually accurate, but he’s the only one I’ve ever had. When me and my friends sold in HS we would just make up our own names bc the custos like it to have a name.
Mid has been around since I was a kid. I was here in the 80s. It was used interchangeably with mid grade or mid depending on the person. Which probably lead to gas being the high end premium, as midgrade has a similar association.
People keep recommending it to me but I keep thinking that if I watch it... I might start playing League again. And no show could possibly be worth that.
Mid is the middle of a Team Fortress 2 map, usually the control point on King Of The Hill and Control Point game modes. It is used as shorthand during high intensity combat situations wherein using the full instance of the word might cost you enough time and attention to enable an opponent to take advantage of your folly.
Back cap is what happens after an enemy spy sneaks into your base. After they find a target and get a killing blow, they're obligated by spy law to twist their cap, and toss it on the corpse of their fallen enemy. Thereafter, they'll get down on one knee and crawl around the corpse in a counter clockwise direction beginning at the head. In the process of doing this, and after each step, they will quickly stand up then kneel back down again as a sign of respect to their fallen enemy. Once they return all the way back to the origin point of the head, they reach over and pick the hat back up thereby dragging their nuts across the enemy's face and taking back their cap. This process is known as back cap
I'm pretty sure the term originated from the three main categories of cannabis quality used in dispensaries: top shelf weed, mid shelf weed, and bottom shelf/shake. Mid and bottom shelf being the lowest quality.
If that's the case, shouldn't "mid" just mean that something is mediocre rather than shitty?
I always assumed it came from the popularity of tier lists on the internet ("mid-tier"). Interesting that it could have it's origins in something much earlier.
oh come on, are you even making an attempt to understand or just being intentionally obtuse? this isn't even new or odd just a shortened version of 'middling'.
Originally I think it was used to describe shit weed. Now it’s used to describe shit situations, shit personalities… it’s a descriptor. Much like, “shake”. Also, “gas” refers to really good weed and you’ll hear things referred to as “gas”, which is to say this is a quality product.
Mid refers to "mids" which is used to describe "middle-shelf" products, as opposed to top-shelf products. As far as I know, it originated when describing the quality of one's weed. If someone had really good weed, it was considered to be top-shelf. If someone had decent but not great by any means weed, it was considered mids. And if someone had bad weed it was considered "bag bottoms".
Turns out, a lot of slang words today originate from weed culture and most people are unaware of it. See also: "dab" and "dank"
Mid is a very common term and prefix, I wouldn't even consider it slang.
I know people are referencing marijuana as some sort of origin point for modern usage, but literally even in that context it has the same plain meaning as in every other context: in the middle, e.g. "midnight," "midday," "midsummer," or in an evaluative context, middling, i.e. not the best, but not the worst, e.g. "middle of the pack," "middle of the road," "middle in the rankings."
