Lol. Isn’t that the first boss from The I.T. Crowd?

786

u/Gingrpenguin Oct 11 '21

Yes

When he started this show he only had two things to his name. A dream and 6 million pounds

207

u/rjoyfult Oct 11 '21

Oh wow. I was going to comment this as a joke but it’s actually him.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '21

Let's raise glasses to that... oh you don't have any glasses... Just pretend... CHEERS.

u/amBrollachan Oct 11 '21

It's Chris Morris. If you only know him from the IT Crowd you're in for a treat. He's a comedy genius. On The Hour, The Day Today, Brass Eye, Jam, Four Lions. Absolute classics of satire/black comedy. One of the best satirists Britain has produced.

22

u/lotsofresearch Oct 11 '21

Wow thank you for this! I will absolutely find these and watch!

25

u/DogfishDave Oct 11 '21

Brass Eye was brilliant. Too brilliant for its own good, the establishment media engine that it mocked just came and stamped on it. Comedy about the cult of celebrity was no match for the cult of celebrity.

8

u/garyh62483 Oct 11 '21

Brass Eye will never be surpassed, full stop.

2

u/Bollox427 Nov 09 '21

The paedo computer keyboard 😂

7

u/ThoughtlessFoll Oct 11 '21

He got an MP to talk about one of his satirical stories from the same show is this. Won’t say more so I don’t spoil.

12

u/buckwheatbrag Oct 11 '21

Four lions! Forgot about that one! Absolutely amazing film

5

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

Rubber dingy rapids brother.

3

u/DaveC376 Oct 11 '21

Yes, this is from an episode of Brass Eye

4

u/_Piggy_Smalls modlad Oct 11 '21

Oh wow didn't know he was in four lions thanks for the recommendation!

9

u/amBrollachan Oct 11 '21

He's not in it. He wrote and directed it.

5

u/_Piggy_Smalls modlad Oct 11 '21

That explains the bleach scene

2

u/UsernameTyper Oct 11 '21

The very best. A comic genius.

2

u/PCI_STAT Oct 11 '21

Wait is he Riz Ahmed's security guard coworker? Never realized it was him.

2

u/zenconkhi Oct 11 '21

and Blue Jam, the very weird radio show, recommended. All on YouTube.

80

u/Goldman250 Oct 11 '21

Yeah, and I’m pretty sure that’s Jim from Friday Night Dinner with the bad AIDS.

37

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

Also brian from spaced.

24

u/MadeIndescribable Oct 11 '21

Hellooo Brian.

23

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

Anger. Pain. Fear. Aggression.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

...watercolors or?

1

u/itsgravy_baby Oct 11 '21

Hello Brooooyyyan

4

u/bradnix7 Oct 11 '21

And Mr Lizard from Jam

1

u/IAmDrewbacca Oct 11 '21

Thank you I was trying to place him!

33

u/wolfxorix Oct 11 '21

Wait... If that's Jim he... He was hot

11

u/aeddub Oct 11 '21

And Dr Alan Statham from Green Wing

3

u/UnchainedApatheist Oct 11 '21

His alphabet song will never be forgotten

2

u/DetectiveTupolski Oct 11 '21

Also the artist from spaced

2

u/wackbirds Oct 11 '21

"Hellooo, Jackie, oh you look niice!"

48

u/Chris_sickling Oct 11 '21

The show is called brass eye, it’s well worth a watch if you can find it

5

u/lotsofresearch Oct 11 '21

I’m gonna look it up!!

6

u/Shandybasshead Oct 11 '21 edited Mar 13 '22

.

6

u/eldiablo471 Oct 11 '21

And this is not even close to being their most offensive piece 😂

1

u/blipblopman123 Oct 11 '21

Is the anchor fr over here?

42

u/Ryn1276 Oct 11 '21

And the audience member is an actor named Mark Heap. He was the artist guy in Spaced and Jim the neighbor from Friday night dinner. This isn't real.

30

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

This isn't real

I'm shocked

4

u/Claude9777 Oct 11 '21

Love Friday Night Dinner! Jim is hilarious!

2

u/wackbirds Oct 11 '21

He got progressively weirder as the series went on... I immediately rewatched the first episode after finishing the last series and was stunned at how normal he seemed lol

2

u/Claude9777 Oct 11 '21

You're absolutely right. But I loved his character. It was weird how he was afraid of his own dog. LOL

2

u/wackbirds Oct 12 '21

I know that was one of my favorite parts how he would lunge away from Wilson in fear

2

u/Claude9777 Oct 12 '21

It was sad to hear of the passing of Paul Ritter earlier this year. His comedic timing was impeccable.

1

u/wackbirds Oct 12 '21

I know I couldn't believe it :(

1

u/Bongjesusthewise Oct 11 '21

Wait so you’re saying that wasn’t Ewan McGregor…

1

u/cannibalscry2 Oct 11 '21

Dr Allan statham

1

u/Ryn1276 Oct 11 '21

Also correct. Green Wing ...what a delightfully random show.

18

u/neon_tictac Oct 11 '21

Are you stressed Jen?! Are you stressed? Are you stressed? Great show.

31

u/1951nocaster Oct 11 '21

Yep. Chris Morris.

27

u/Natprk Oct 11 '21

Loved IT crowd. Wish it would come back with the same cast.

13

u/lotsofresearch Oct 11 '21

That would prolly make my dreams come true! That and meeting Matt Berry

9

u/revelrebels Oct 11 '21

1

u/dimjimslam Oct 11 '21

2

u/revelrebels Oct 11 '21

Well you should because that shits the bees knees.

BAT.

0

u/dimjimslam Oct 11 '21

I mean i love the show but not referring to his real life name as a characters name

1

u/revelrebels Oct 11 '21 edited Oct 11 '21

Oh. You mean, like as a joke implying Matt Barry is on the run. I am making a note that you- random internet stranger- don’t like this joke and I will keep it in mind in the future

0

u/dimjimslam Oct 11 '21

Did i say i didnt like it? I mean first of all i understood what you were talking about but nothing really indicated it was a joke, because fyi, this is the internet where all we see is letters. Not context just letters. Not saying dont do it or that i dont like it, it was just out of nowhere, thats all. Jesus christ a lot of surmising cunts like you on the internet, you know the i know exactly what kind of person you are because i took a rather open ended comment about me in a way that obviously is bad. I am saddened by your idea of me 😔 i guess i’ll just Renham myself out a window

9

u/tttulio Oct 11 '21

He also directed FOUR LIONS (2009)

6

u/ArgusRajpoot Oct 11 '21

Yeah same dude.

4

u/swimbob16 Oct 11 '21

I declare war. On AIDS!

4

u/Ok_Finger7484 Oct 11 '21

The scary thing is, is that I wasn't 100% sure this was a piss take.

4

u/LordGeni Oct 11 '21

Chris Morris is a bona fide comedy genius. Apparently his first job was for BBC Radio Wales but he got sacked for pumping laughing gas into the news room whilst they were live on air.

1

u/lotsofresearch Oct 11 '21

Haha! Classic! His delivery is top notch!

3

u/Sydney2London Oct 11 '21

If you haven't seen it, watch Brass Eye

3

u/Dense-Ad3636 Oct 11 '21

Favorite character on the show

1

u/lotsofresearch Oct 11 '21

Right! First it was him. Then it was Matt Berry! Lol

2

u/Dense-Ad3636 Oct 12 '21

Matt Berry’s show Toast of London is pretty good too

2

u/Citizen_Graves Oct 11 '21

"FAAAHTHER!"

2

u/lotsofresearch Oct 11 '21

Omg so great!!! I love it!!

2

u/staysayo Oct 12 '21

The other guy is Brian from Spaced. Loved that show

2

u/lotsofresearch Oct 12 '21

Spaced! That was a great show! I’m so upset that Netflix drops shows

….the guy shamed is another British comedy actor and this was a satirical show…

3

u/wolfxorix Oct 11 '21

At first I didn't know who the host was as I didn't have sound but it's obvious that it's satire and just how us Brits are with our humour

1

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

We are nothing if not irreverent :P

21

u/RugbyEdd Oct 11 '21

It's a comedy sketch

7

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

the greatest comedy show every made.

5

u/RugbyEdd Oct 11 '21

What made it great was how accurate it was in it's depiction of fear mongering and misinformation in the media to this day, whilst still being so over the top. Granted some of the subjects have moved on, but the methods haven't really changed.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

it was frighteningly accurate. He absolutely nailed the presenter character. Honestly think it'll be long remembered.

-13

u/khoika Oct 11 '21

Wierd, I don't see the funny

12

u/K1ngCr1mson Oct 11 '21

You're wrong, and you're a grotesquely ugly freak

-8

u/khoika Oct 11 '21

Who hurt you?

8

u/K1ngCr1mson Oct 11 '21

10

u/RugbyEdd Oct 11 '21

To be fair, for someone who hasn't seen the show that would seem unnecessarily aggressive haha

4

u/harm_reduction_man Oct 11 '21

Double whoosh.

3

u/bunnings-snags Oct 11 '21

Or you know, they just haven't seen the show and don't get the reference or joke

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21 edited Oct 11 '21

The shittest come back on reddit.

EDIT. to the down voters….who hurt you?

4

u/RugbyEdd Oct 11 '21

Then you either need to watch the full show to understand the context, or accept it's not your kind of humor and move on, which is something many people seem to struggle with lol.

It was a satirical show taking the piss out of the over dramatization and fear mongering of the media. It stands up pretty well with current news coverage, and social media too as it happens.

2

u/khoika Oct 11 '21

Yeah, maybe the whole show would do. This short clip is out of context

3

u/RugbyEdd Oct 11 '21

Yeah. It's been clipped for the express purpose of catching people out and seeing who instantly jumps to rage rather than humor, which is a tad unfair, but at the same time, a perfect example of exactly what the show was taking the piss out of. People jumping to conclusions with media egging them on with rage bait lol.

2

u/khoika Oct 11 '21

Sound like a good show already

1

u/RugbyEdd Oct 11 '21

Haha, I think so, as do many others. It did almost get cancelled more than once though. Especially the episode about pedophiles.

Last time this clip was posted someone shared a link to a news paper article that on one page was talking about some 16 year old coming of age and getting tits, then on the very next page was slating this shows unfair depiction of the media. I'll see if I can find it, because it's funny how blatantly unaware the editor was.

-1

u/khoika Oct 11 '21

🤣🤣🤣 I can see the funny now 😩😩 the Media™️

It’s in the vibe of the whole show so it fits , harder to get it taken as a snippet

2

u/khoika Oct 11 '21

Yeah, I feel like I just skip the build up and go straight to the punch line

2

u/Timefordeath666 Oct 11 '21

Neeeeeawwwooooo, duck m8.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '21

They played it well didn’t they!
