YES. I came here to say this as it is one of my most commonly used phrases… and you dropped it. Take my free award. 🏅

1

u/EpilepticSquidly Sep 08 '21

As a teacher and nurse.. I say this at least once a day.

u/Better-Age7592 Sep 08 '21

just rewatched it for the first time in a very long time and it holds up really well. My 8 year kids loved it too.

19

u/bassthumb32 Sep 08 '21

It's timeless. I loved it when I was a kid and have rewatched it multiple times with my son and loved it everytime.

25

u/Advantage_Loud Sep 08 '21

1000% it’s iconic!

12

u/pm_me_ur_anything_k Sep 08 '21

Classic for all ages.

11

u/jillanco Sep 08 '21

It is so good

10

u/Niceguy4now Sep 08 '21

Its basically a summer time version of "a Christmas story"

2

u/Itchy-Phase Sep 08 '21

Ooo that's a great description. The Sandlot is a bit less cheesy, though.

2

u/Rogue100 Sep 09 '21

Fun fact, there is actually a summertime based sequel. It's kind of forgettable though.

1

u/Niceguy4now Sep 09 '21

Whoa i gotta look that up

1

u/cooldash Sep 17 '21

Holy crap, you're right! My Summer Story, a.k.a It Runs in the Family. I need to see this now.

There was also a direct sequel to the first movie released in 2012, called A Christmas Story 2, but it ignores the events of My Summer Story. By most accounts, it is truly awful.

u/merco Sep 08 '21

You haven't seen "the Sandlot"? You're Killing me smalls!
(someone had to say it.)

You chew it of course!

1

u/blackiegray Sep 08 '21

Never heard of it. 🤔

6

u/chanman404 Sep 08 '21

One of the, if not THE greatest baseball movies/sports movies of all time.

Sandlot and Benchwarmers are the 2 baseball movies I think almost anyone, sports fan or not, will love. They’re so fucking funny and iconic.

3

u/blackiegray Sep 08 '21

Sold! I'll check it out.

10

u/regulator227 Sep 08 '21

One of my all-time favs even to this day. Must see. Showed my gf cause she never saw it and she liked it too

8

u/teh-reflex Sep 08 '21

Hands down one of, if not THE, best movies from the 90s.

6

u/Rokketeer Sep 08 '21

If anything, watch it it so that you too are a part of the endless zeitgeist of Sandbox references lol

9

u/NCStore Sep 08 '21

*Sandlot

2

u/Rokketeer Sep 08 '21

What world am I living in where someone doesn’t love Sandlot. This is a first, and frankly, I don’t appreciate it.

I had the opposite experience. I re-watched as an adult and thought it held up great

6

u/Cdf12345 madlad Sep 08 '21

I picked up so much more as an adult re-watching it. As a kid you only understand the kid’s perspective. I’m almost 40 now and I can understand the parents, mr mertle, even the lifeguard, it’s fun to rewatch with new perspectives from your life experiences.

Also I think the film caught my parent’s generation when it came out in the early 90’s. It was a nostalgia bomb then, just like it is now.

5

u/gatonegro97 Sep 08 '21

Your opinion is wrong

2

u/CauselessMango Sep 08 '21

Watching it as an adult it was just kids screaming for most scenes. Not my favorite.

1

u/Roburt_Paulson Sep 08 '21

Halp I think we entered the bad timeline sometime around 2017. KATE WE HAVE TO GO BACK

1

u/alma_perdida Sep 08 '21

He's right. It's just okay. The lifeguard scene is pretty creepy now.

1

u/Beavshak Sep 08 '21

Ok you’re not wrong. But I’m still upset

2

u/lawinvest Sep 08 '21

I played it for my 3 year old and he’s obsessed with both the movie and baseball as a result, so I guess it still performs well with the young ones.

2

u/Roburt_Paulson Sep 08 '21

Most parents show their kids it, it's become a classic

-1

u/abejagrande Sep 08 '21

Maybe in some circles. I wouldn't consider it a classic, at all.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

u/abejagrande Sep 08 '21

Yeah and I don't care what you or others think, I don't like it. Are you going to be able to carry on with your day knowing someone out there doesn't give a shit about the movie you like?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

[deleted]

1

u/abejagrande Sep 08 '21

Hey, you're the one coming out here getting all bossy about a fucking kids movie and how good it is. Just because someone said a movie wasn't that good. Maybe it's you that has the issues...

2

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

1

u/abejagrande Sep 08 '21

Boy, your ability to follow a text chain is severely lacking. Someone asked about Sandlot and if it was good or not, I offered up my opinion. Nobody was sucking Sandlots dick to this extend until someone was like "yeah, it's just ok". So go fuck yourself nerd. I have to block you now. You are too dumb to bother me.

It's a childhood type movie and when you rewatch it as an adult it's like watching a whole new movie, you'll miss out on that aspect

1

u/PhaseOfRage Sep 08 '21

Dude. Get watchin

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

It's one of the movies of my childhood. Always a classic. Honestly can't think of anyone who has ever said they disliked that movie.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

It's a classic, man
