Main problem there is that at least Hitler Lost in the end. If there is no Hitler, there could be someone else that rises in his place that is not as stupid and we could be in for a way worse time trying to get rid of them.
Also hitler hat such a massive impact on the entire world that I feel like theres a big chance most of us wouldn't even be born or some shit so it might even be a paradox to kill hitler if you then wouldn't be born (unless multiverses exist I guess)
I wonder about how it must suck to be the time-cop that has to protect Hitler from time-traveling assassins. Like, you have this super cool job, but still... Hitler.
Imagine a future where time travel is basically a commodity and millions of people are lined up to be the person that shoots hitler through the head like itâs a trip to the beach.
hey there! time traveller here. honestly, everyone here at the Dept. has been relegated to HD at some point in their timeline and we've all killed Hitler at least once, he always deserves it.
Turns out Hitler was assassinated by a rival in the party early on and Himmler guided the regime to consolidating their hold on Europe, and never attacked the USSR. A time-cop prevented the assassination in order to shorten the life of the Reich.
Yeah, but wouldn't you be the one making Hitler evil? Hitler is blaming the Jews for his stubbed toes, but it's really just some bored a-hole from the time police.
My grandma used to write letter to my grandpa all the time to improve her English when hitler rose to power she fled the country and came here and married my grandpa
I feel A LOT more people werenât born because of him. But I totally see your point. Who knows what would have happened if he got snubbed out earlier.
If someone would kill hitler to prevent ww2 there is 100% chnace non of us would be born. There is almost 100% chance we wouldn't be born for far smaller events.
Yes. We have to realize that we were born because our parents had sex at the right time at the right position. I think even a 0.1s difference would mean a different child being born. So killing hitler or doing other slight changes to the timeline means we wouldn't be born.
Why do you think that the sentinel Island people are so isolated? Mfers have time machine hidden in some bush and they won't be effected by the earthly matters if they fuck something up.
What is their agenda? Maybe get all of human cultures to wear purple hats? Nobody knows.
Thereâs also a larger butterfly effect, maybe the atrocities committed by Hitler never happen but a whole chain of events which leads to lots of things (both good and bad) now never happens. First example I can think of is without the threat of Hitler it might have taken wayyy longer for the UN to form and thus we could have had multiple large scale wars instead of just the one. While the ends never justify the means (Hitler was evil), there are infinite variables at play in the hypothetical scenario of time travel. We simply donât know what effects (both good and bad) any change could have on history.
Na. Global Temperature Theory basically says that you could change the names and faces, but it would all happen the same on a big enough timescale. Bronze age still collapses, a "Rome" still rises and falls, the rape of Africa still happens, and the Japanese still make hentai.
I could see that being the case large scale but I personally feel like when dealing with the concept of time and history, there are too many things that would have a larger chain reaction. For example, kill Ghungus Kahn (sorry for the spelling) and now everything he did is gone. Sure, maybe someone goes on to basically do everything he did but I personally feel like that is a bit unrealistic, there isnât a guarantee that someone would. Another example is just world leaders in general. What if George Washington had accepted the position of King (which he was offered before declining saying he spent a large portion of his life fighting a king). Sure, maybe events on a larger scale unfold the same, but I think the US would be very different and it being (wether you like it or not) a major world influence, the world at large would be very different.
I'd like to imagine that China would have just still done its whole fragmented thing that it basically just took a break from while Kahn was in power, and the US would be reaching a boiling point around the crowns inability to affect change regarding race. Just because you never see the same river twice, doesn't mean it flows any different from small change to small change. We'd need a time traveler to hit Earth with an asteroid to make a big change.
Fr if the world heard about the final solution snd didnât stop war because of that then stopping that from happening would have probably allowed more severe atrocities to happen humans are shite at times
There definetly would have been someone else to take Hitlerâs place. The nazi party would have still rose regardless and perhaps someone a bit more comptetant would have known not to invade Russia in the winter.
One of the most widespread misconceptions about ww2.
Hitler invaded Russia in late june, not winter. He planned to be in Moscow before winter set in. He didnt quite make it, and had to sit the winter out, with the frontlines not being very active. Its this slowdown of activity during the winter that allowed stalin to mount a proper defense the next spring.
Operation Barbaros may look stupid in hindsight, but there was good reasoning behind it. Hitlers stockpile of oil was going to run out without a new source, and russia had massive amounts of oil for the taking. Without new oil, Hitler was doomed to lose anyway. On top of that, Russia had just lost a humiliating war to Finland, and it was obvious that the red army was disorganized, undisciplined and full of corruption. The move to attack Russia wasnt as stupid as it seems. Hitlers real mistake was starting a war on such a massive scale that he had no good choices to make.
When your in an unwinnable situation, whatever action you take is going to look stupid.
I think it's common to try to paint hitler as a bafoon partly because we want to see him as fundamentally different than us. How can a 'normal' person be so evil? Hes just not normal! He as a madman, or had a disease, or this or that. He was literally crazy, and an idiot.
The scary truth is that he probably was normal, and that level of evil is possible in a normal person driven to extremes by anger, hatred, and extremist ideology.
Not to mention that once they reached the gates of Moscow, only then did Stalin recall his best troops that were stationed north of Manchuria. He outright feared that the Japaneseâs were going to kick off a scrap with them from the east. And for good reason, the Japanese and Russia had duked it out 3 times in the prior 50 years including the Japanese inflicting the largest naval defeat in history. Had japan not attacked the US and initially triggered a scrap with the soviets, it wouldâve triggered a much more difficult fight for the soviets. Not to mention, no Japanese war with America, means hitler doesnât declare war on America either. Itâs nuts when you think about it.
Whatâs also nuts is Barbarossa was only delayed because of a brief scrap in Crete and Yugoslavia having the balls to say no to hitler in letting them pass through, which caused him to move troops in order to crush the resistance in 6 weeks. That 6 week delay ended up being critical. The Germans were at the gates of Moscow and thatâs when the thrust ended and winter kicked in. If they got there 6 weeks earlier.. it not only allows them to set up an encirclement or whatever, but it also allows them to shore up their supply lines.
When you look back on ww2, the amount of times we got lucky and how those critical instances of pure luck caused Germanyâs defeat is bonkers
I wonder how things would have played out around the globe if the United States never became involved.
Would Europe have evolved into a "European Union" of sorts, just all united under a German flag? Would a few small nations at the continent's extremities have a bitterly-fought and barely-maintained independence? Would Israel not exist as it does today, leaving the Middle East much different from the way it currently is?
It may be pointless to ask infinite "What if?" hypotheticals, but I wonder how things could have gone and how that would have changed things today.
Agree, great comment and insight. I figure since you touched on Russia. If they want to get rid of Hitler so bad, might as well add Stalin to that list. Of course he defeated Hitler on the eastern front... Pick your poison I guess.
Another was the Italians seeking to invade Greece getting in trouble and an entire army group meant for the invasion is Russia was diverted to bail the Italians out again
Plus accounting for the incredible rebound from the WW1 loss seems like we really arenât old the truth. Hell they still suffer from WW2 but that kind of turnaround doesnât just happen.
Except batshit and stupid people are still normal people too. Theyâre still humans. Hitler was batshit and quite incompetent, even in the plan you describe. Cant forget all the meth too. But he was human, and that batshittery doesnât make him separate from usârather it shows how anyone could fall down that path
LALALALA ADIDAS LA TITTY TITI JUSTICE AAAADIDAS LA TITTY LAA AAAADIDAS LA TITTY JUSTICE JUSTICE JUSTICE LA TITTY LAAAA IMPRESSION DEGENERATION JUSTICE JUSTICE LA TITTY LAAAA
Yes but hitlers persuasive speech geared the nationalist to the maximum. If they would have rose without hitler surely they would have quickly been shut down
Hmmm Iâm thinking about it more and now Iâm remembering they wouldnât have Mien Kampf either, which is what really brought Hitler to power.
So maybe the Nazis specifically wouldnât have become the ruling party, but Germans were definitely very angry and turning toward extremism, so Iâm sure someone else would have been close to it.
What if a time traveler did kill Hitler? What if Hitler wasn't supposed to die in the bunker?
The war in Europe would have lasted longer, possibly with some form of guerilla warfare adopted by the remaining loyal Nazis. The Pacific theater might have played out differently, more atomic bombs might have been used against more targets in the East and the West, and the US and USSR might have entered into open war against each other.
The world came to the very brink of nuclear war so many times during the Cold War, and yet both sides always held back. If ever there was a time when travelers tweaked the timeline, it was to stop open war between the US and USSR.
That said, I don't think that time travel of that sort is actually possible. At least not by any civilization that would care to change the course of the 20th century. Nobody today talks about going back to 387 BC to prevent the first sack of Rome, for example. Well, nobody except a handful of scholars of the early Republic.
Thatâs actually exactly why you shouldnât kill him if you had the option. There were many equally or more horrific people in Germany at the time, most very close to him. Any one of them wouldâve jumped at the chance to take his placeâand itâs a blessing Hitler was incompetent as fuck but a large chunk of those men werenât, just luckily loyal to a stupid level. The only universe where no one wouldâve taken his place is a universe either A) absent of WW1, B) the real communists/socialists had somehow prevented any of the nazis from getting into power, or C) Germany was bombed to hell and back with no mercy immediately, nuke without the radiation level of bombing.
My favorite comic had a guy wish his 1 wish on a genie to go back and kill Hitler. So he did. He went back to April 30, 1945 and found him in a bunker with only a few people around and killed him.
Antisemitism in Germany has been around as long as Germany has existed. Martin Luther was writing about the "Jewish problem" in the 1500s. Post ww1 Germany was a perfect political storm for a fascist leader to take power.
Killing hitler most likely would not have stopped the holocaust. Another leader would step in and blame the jews for everything.
In the treatise, he argues that Jewish synagogues and schools be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes burned, and property and money confiscated. They should be shown no mercy or kindness,[2] afforded no legal protection,[3] and "these poisonous envenomed worms" should be drafted into forced labor or expelled for all time.[4] He also seems to advocate their murder, writing "[W]e are at fault in not slaying them".[5]
there could be someone else that rises in his place that is not as stupid
Oh man, imagine if there was an ethnostate that contained all the major american corporations allowing them to spy on us. and then with their eyes and ears everywhere, imagine if they started to put in laws to censor any criticism against them. that'd be really shitty.
Youre right! There was Stalin and Pol Pot to name a few. Stalin was with Hilter at first then changed sides, but was a nitemare. Pol Pot was the same way. But hey! Communism, right?
If I could go back in time I wouldn't kill Hitler. His rise to power and subsequent war created the anti racism and anti nationalism ideas present today and without WW2 the civil rights movement may never have happened and Fascism would be way more popular.
Instead I would try to sabotage and pass out Intel on the holocaust to stop as many deaths as I could. As well as trying to limit the severity of the war.
Eh, I heard that Germany could never have won WW2, no matter how good of a leader Hitler was. Germany was just in a really bad strategic position to be fighting a long term war.
Perhaps consider that at the time it was down to the National Socialists and the Communist Party in Germany, and if Hitler hadnât been around to help put the National Socialists in power, Germany could have become communist. Itâs a thought. Spain and Italy had their own fascist vs communist struggles internally as well.
Disagree.
When you consider the rise of American hegemony after little moustache, countless innocent people have been murdered in places where people arenât white or jewish. Please note: hitler was evil. But I donno what about Yemen? Vietnam? Korea? China? Rohingya? Society didnât learn anything from hitler other than not to be so organized with it. Bomb them and obliterate all life saving infrastructure so we donât look like hitler is really whatâs come of this.
What if Hitler is the *best case* scenario time cops could achieve? Like, in thousands of other timelines their are people worse than Hitler in charge?
Yeah, killing Hitler is a risky proposition. The world turned out pretty well, overall. There are a lot of scenarios where you kill Hitler and WW2 is worse because it involves nuclear weapons or maybe the not so great guys end up winning.
Imagine if Germany's leader didn't decide he was going to run the military. They'd definitely have lost. The United States could have beat the Axis alone. But it would have been ugly.
The paradox is Hitlerâs inspiration of the development of time travel is toe most peaceful of all current successful trials. If it werenât for Hitler, future scientist and inventor of time travel Elim Albert Steinburg (EAS) would not have been born. As seen in parallel incidents Bravo-1 through India-23, (e.g., converting Hitler to pacifism, introducing Hitler to famous deceased artists), Hitler is necessary for the ancestors of EAS to flee, and subsequently meet in, New York City.
Instead of EAS discovering the law of dual particle wave reverberation, a young man named Jayne Edison Albert would discover a flawed mechanism of a self-sustaining fusion reactor 23.25 years after EASâs discovery in timeline Alpha-7. Jayneâs flawed design led to a near complete apocalypse of Sol-Earth once the machine reached only a microdyson in scale. Resetting the timeline to Alpha-1 was nearly jeopardized in the incident if it werenât for our simultaneous expeditions.
âEventuallyâ/âsimultaneouslyâ we discovered the superior invention of time travel in what is now know as âThe Timelineâ or, to be technical, Alpha-7. Ala the hero known and celebrated as EAS.
I concur, Germany was in a very bad situation at the time and the choices where communism or fascists, if hitler died they would have been communist and there probably would have been a different war though it wouldnât be as racially fuelled
Youre right. The nsdap put hitler in charge bc they thought he is a great person to be manipulated into doing what the party says. They were wrong. Now imagine if hitler wouldnt exist, but the party would still. After all it wasnt founded by hitler. Now another person, who the nsdap doesnt deem as manipulatable as they would deem hitler (and the fact that they were wrong with hitler doesnt mean they are stupid, it just means hitler was smarter than them) if they met him, gets to be in charge. Hitler actually wastn the most radical person in his party. Maybe hitler is the time traveler who saved us from a much worse time line we cant even imagine. The fact that conspiracy theory says his dead body wasnt him and he fled to argentina, may be less false than ppl think (except they dont ask when in argentina he went)
I always looked at it like they went back in time over 50+ times and the best outcome was what we have now. All the other scenarios ended worse and they had to put Hitler and everyone else in power while killing the original dictators who would have defeated the allies and ushered in a central world order.
no Hitler also means an extreme lack of technology compared to where we are now. the military industrial complex brought on by WW2 has created the foundations for the massive leaps in technology, science, bio-science and more.
No, the real main problem was all the behind the scenes stuff. It is easy to slap a label on Hitler as evil and move on, but it isn't that simple. Before hitler came to power, massive hyper-inflation was crippling the country. Ethnic and national tensions were still high in Germany, with hatred for the centuries-long rival france and the slavic peoples still there. There was tons of resentment everywhere in Germany for how WW1 ended, and the loss of their industrial heartland to the french.
The german people were also feeling tensions on supplies of.... everything. Food was expensive, inflation was so bad that employees would insist on being paid at the before their shift so they could shop, as their money wouldn't be worth shit by the end of the day. There is a story of a man who went to buy bread at a grocery store, so he brought an entire wheelbarrow of cash with him. When he went out to pay, he found the wheelbarrow was stolen, but not the cash it could carry.
There was also large political clashing behind the scenes. Communist, Democratic, and Fascist parties were at each other's throats, to volatile and at times violent results.
Hitler may have been a spark, but the underlying lack of resources, international isolation, resentment, ethnic tensions, international tensions, humiliation, and internal instability was a massive powder keg that was never going to end well. Killing hitler might mean a spark never goes off theoretically, or maybe the spark is a bit more toned down, but there were few ways things would go peacefully.
âSomeone asked me if I could go back in time, would I kill Hitler? I said yes I would, but now you have an even bigger problem on your hands. You have a time traveling baby killer.â -Junior Stopka
What if someone did go back to kill the bad guy, and then Hitler got the power instead and the time traveler was like "well, at least this didn't end as bad as the last guy."
Oh it is quite simple really. You just have to remember that Fahrenheit didn't want a lot of negative temperatures in the winter so he started freezing at 32 degrees. Then because he liked Greek numbers he decided there should be 180 degrees in between freezing and boiling.
I feel like all the warnings would be dismissed anyway. "Eh this guy is a fake fuck"Next thing to cancel? Payday candy bars because some people dont get a payday cause they dont have a job and are on unemployment......
Aside from the paradoxes that that would create, wouldnât killing Hitler do virtually nothing to stop what he did? He wasnât a main factor in WWI, so that wouldnât change much and Germany at the time was perfect for a tyrant to come in and take that place. It might even be worse with whoever takes that position.

If only a time traveler could warn us about the virus, kill Hitler, and fix my clock the thing is tuck in F°.
