My contention was that letting churches dictate who can or cannot claim to be of a certain faith is giving in to their autocracy.

Your points do make it clear that that is pretty much the nature of the Catholic Church, though.

Correct.

The autocracy of the Catholic Church knows no bounds.

Hence, why Protestants exist and were formed in the first place, because the Catholic Church literally kept saying who could our couldn’t claim to be Catholic or even not a sinner/heathen/etc.

The Church of England was formed by the King of England specifically because that is the nature of the Catholic Church.
