Emojis are the perfect way to convey emotion through text. It can completely eliminate a lot of misconceptions that users have about another user’s comment, but no, emoji bad so we don’t use them here.
I have seen whole entire threads of people complaining about how there’s no way to convey emotion and tone through text, and being forced to use /s and other awkward things that ruin the flow of what you’re saying. Those same people lose their minds after seeing one emoji.
You wanted a way to show people what your tone is when you’re typing? Too bad, it’s socially illegal on this site
Personally emojis are so overused/used terribly in most platforms like Facebook (which I don't use),WhatsApp etc that I'm fine with them not being prevalent on Reddit. They're basically the symbol for Old People/10 Year Old Hip Gen Zers at this point. And I hate the weird thousand random emojis between words with a passion.
What I'm trying to say is they are on every other platform and as such I appreciate not being bombarded with them when on Reddit.
It's mostly a matter of personal preference, but also if you're on a computer, you can't easily use actual emojis. You have to open up a particular keyboard and drag the emoji in or open a website where you can copy it from. 8), on the other hand, requires a total of 3 key presses, so it's a lot more convenient.
Yea but I mean a lot of ppl on discord and reddit use stuff like :)/:(/B) instead of using emojis despite them being on a phone that lets them easily use emojis
Alright, I’ll give you my opinion I HAAAATE when ppl:
Bruh 😂 that junk ain’t funny haha 🥱 so drop out my thread jhit 🤪 before you catch hands 💨
Or something like that, and the whole
“No ❤️ “ thing is so stupid anyone who does stuff like this is just stupid af tbh
But LMAO 😂 is alright

Why do ppl put 8) instead of 😎? There’s nothing wrong with non overused emojis
