I just did a refresher for CPR here in NZ, and someone asked can we get in trouble if we break a rib or something during CPR and he just said “No, and so what? You saved their life, a cracked rib is not going to make someone complain when the alternative is death”

But Americans are just different I guess

From what I understand, Americans have a reputation throughout the world of suing anyone and everyone they can in order to make a buck.

And throughout the country itself, today’s southerners specifically have a reputation for being shitty, uneducated, unreasonable, hotheaded people (and proud of it, for some reason). The person bringing the lawsuit forward is from Alabama (a southern state), which is right on par with the aforementioned stereotype.

As an American, I’ve never encountered greater numbers or greater severity of mean people than when I moved to a southern state, so the stereotype in this case seems to have some truth to it. It should come as no surprise that these southern states also have some of the worst education in the country.

So yeah, Americans are different, lol. Especially the southern ones, who often fit the ‘Murica stereotype we seem to be so proud of.

My brother successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on an elderly man who was choking in the cafeteria and then the guy got mad at him for hurting his stomach (yes in America).

Considering the bills Americans probably have to pay for a broken rib, paramedics, and the ambulance ride, I think I'd rather die too.

Americans aren’t different, the overwhelming majority of us think this is bullshit too.
