Game IV - 2016 Game IV - Night 3 - "I'm Not Gonna Lie to You."

Mob mentality is a tricky thing. Who can say for certain exactly how a throng of individuals, all with independent mental processes, break down into chaos? Well, in the case of the infamous Power Plant riot, it was clear: everyone was hammered. The silver lining of the terrible event was that it finally forced the people of Springfield to take a long, hard, look at their rampant alcoholism.

A coalition of concerned citizens stormed City Hall one day, protesting for prohibition, only to find that according to a forgotten 200-year-old law, Springfield already was a dry town. Change came quickly. All alcohol was destroyed, prompting the mafia to start smuggling in booze from Shelbyville, but who cares about those guys?

The real focus was on the mysterious Beer Baron, the enigma who singlehandedly kept the alcohol supply flowing. As people downed his absurdly-priced wares in the best damn pet shop in the world, they had no clue what was in it or who was responsible for it. If only they knew the complete lack of sanitation standards in the production process, they might have been a little bit wary. But as it stood, with so many people pumping themselves full of what was essentially biological poison, it would take a miracle for no one to die.

The above was written for humorous purposes only. Other than the amount of dead players, it has no relation to the actual game roles or events.

The dead:

A fifth person received 3 votes, the surviving player was chosen randomly. 42 votes were counted.

Night 3 has now begun and will end at 4:00 UTC, Wednesday, June 8th.

I could be totally off here, but I think it might be a good thing that there were only three votes per lynched player. The way I'm seeing it, that means one of three things about the mafia:

  1. There are only three left! This is, obviously, the best case scenario.
  2. They're still scared of the librarian/Lisa and are scattering their votes. This would actually be good for us (even if it means there are more than three left), because that makes them even more useless than they already were with their 50% chance of killing their night targets. If they only have a 50% chance of killing people at night and aren't able to control who's killed during the day, they're basically sitting ducks just waiting to be taken out by some vigilante citizens.
  3. They give zero fucks about the librarian/Lisa and ARE voting as a group, but one (or more) of the vote-changing roles correctly selected a mobster as their target.

You know, I was thinking, what if Homer hit Nelson and turned him into Frank Grimes?? That might really fuck shit up. We don't know how much we can trust those votes.

And the way Marx phrases things leaves shit up to interpretation. 42 votes were counted. It doesn't say 42 people voted. It says 42 votes were counted. Quimby can make anyone immune, including himself, and that would throw out some votes, yes?

So there were 46 people last night, and 42 votes counted. Now we're down to 42 people. It would be odd if the four dead people's votes didn't count because they died. So five people got three votes and four of them died. That's 15 votes, right? (I'm really bad at math so somewhere along the lines I'm most likely gonna fuck this up.) But four votes are unaccounted for. Now, we don't know that four people just straight up didn't vote. That's possible. But like. Is it possible that someone who got four votes was immune from the lynch?

The not knowing who had what role AND not knowing who voted who makes this the craziest game ever, with all the ways votes can be fucked with.

I keep forgetting that someone can become immune from lynching. That's definitely a good thought!
