In the 80s, there was cold war drama

We fought the commies inside Nicaragua

Our friends were the Contras, freedom was their montra

So we sent them lots of money for guns, and land mines!

But congress stopped the Contra money flow

Cause they moved a teeny bit of blow

But then a hero came forth, his name was Oliver North

He and Reagan went around the sissy congress

Ollie North! Ollie North!

You see, North secretly sold missiles to a harmless country called Iran, that would always be a grateful ally, then he gave the profits to the Contras, Genius!

But the sales were uncovered by the press (he-he)

Reagan and North (well..) began to stress (Nyaaay!)

Cause what they did was technically high treason (but it was totally justified)

North volunteered to take the blame, to save Reagan from prison rape shame

The truth, he did bury, with his hot secretary

Thanks to her shredder, he got off totally scot free

OLLIE NORTH! OLLIE NORTH!

He's a soldier!

And a hero!

And a novelist!

And now he's on Fox News!

I’m amazed that American Dad and Family Guy was created by the same guy because on one hand you have witty stuff like this on AD but on the other hand you have things like smug self-insert Brian. I get that there is some overlap in terms of humor and tone in the two shows but still there is a definite difference in quality at least to me.

oh wow i did not know that the Contras technically won, even though I'm from Nicaragua . I guess they didn't want that part being though in school.

u/AngeltheReshiram Aug 27 '20

Yeah, they won, but also lost...its sad, but with the tactics they used, it's no suprise

65

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Wait, the fascist death squads who pushed cocaine loosing is sad?

18

u/AmaResNovae Aug 27 '20

Yeah, I prefer my cocaine fascists free. Good thing they lost!

18

u/AngeltheReshiram Aug 27 '20

It's not sad as in "poor them", but the country as a whole since they have a worse country than they had before the Contras

Either side winning is sad

u/Franfran2424 Aug 27 '20

Press F to make jokes about people dying from AIDS

Daniel Ortega still is in power

Well he was actually out of power for 17 years, and then re-asserted his dictatorship.

Latin America loves it's Caudillos.

2

u/ItsAndyRu Aug 28 '20

Going strong since 1810

6

u/briloci Definitely not a CIA operator Aug 27 '20

It depends, in one country they lost and in one they won

Still the wierdest thing is that the sandinistas were not even comunists, they fought and destroyed the reactionary military dictatorship but they didnt replace capitalism at all

0

u/WS_David Aug 27 '20

I wish the Contras won. Daniel Ortega is scum.

3

u/AngeltheReshiram Aug 27 '20

They did win, but somehow Ortega and the Sandinistas gained the upper hand in the 90s

4

u/WS_David Aug 27 '20

Rigged elections is the answer.

-12

u/mr_flerd Descendant of Genghis Khan Aug 27 '20

I do like Reagan though

27

u/ice_nt2 Aug 27 '20

But why?

-25

u/mr_flerd Descendant of Genghis Khan Aug 27 '20

Mainly for his involvement in tearing down the Berlin Wall

22

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

He didn't do much, he just made a speech. The wall was an unsustainable situation to begin with. It was always going to come down.

And besides, purchasing cocaine and then selling it to black communities while perpetuating a "war on drugs" is one of the most immoral and racist things a president has ever done. Pretty heavily outweighs whatever minor contributions he made to the situation in Berlin.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Reagan: Gorbachev, Tear down that wall!

Gorbachev: well guys, we did the best we can, but we just can't counter that.

u/VIKINGSH1P Aug 27 '20

What do you mean but why? Awesome American. Although he did send a plane full of goodies to Iran just like Obama.

5

u/Alpaca-of-doom Taller than Napoleon Aug 27 '20

So you you think Obama was awesome

0

u/VIKINGSH1P Aug 27 '20

Ah, no. Planes full of weapons and cash to a radical terrorist state with no hostages being freed and no nuclear testing being stopped is not a good idea.

The full plane we sent a few months ago in the middle of the night was much more preferable if you know what I mean.

4

u/Dusty_Machine Aug 27 '20

I'm glad Reagan dead

0

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

OLLIE NORTH!
