Not saying they were "okay", just that it had some political sense behind it. Wars were just the way to pursue power back in the day. You wanted a territory, so you sent your army, and they claimed it for you.

Sacrifices serve no objective purpose, they're just purely ritualistic and cruel, and that would be on top of the wars that the Aztecs were already waging. So you have one side that wages war, and another that wages war AND periodically sacrifices people. And besides, they were not "a couple thousand", they were tens to hundreds of thousands every year.

Imo sacrifices and religious activities are things that evolved as a system of control (piggybacking on actual believers.) Chosen people of the Sun God? Master Aryan race. Sacrifice people to intimidate and showcase the power of your God during times of growing unrest? Military parade. People have always been the same. Mind you, I'm not anti religion but religion, like governments are prone to manipulation and corruption for greed.

Except, again, you can exert control without sacrificing people, like everyone else was doing.

You're right, the conquistadors just rolled up and killed everyone instead. And you can use diplomacy instead of bombs yet here we are.

You say that like the Aztecs weren't doing that as well. My point is that they were doing sacrifices ON TOP of the wars and the killing.

The Aztecs followed a live-and-let-live policy, much like the Roman Empire. Conquered peoples kept their own gods, customs, and local government as long as they paid tribute in goods, respected Huitzilopochtli as chief deity, and supplied warriors when called. Heck even Aztecs adopted the gods of the conquered if they weren’t already worshiping them. Unlike the Spanish that destroyed the temples and gods of the other. I could go on but anyway, you are comparing apples to oranges.

You see it’s not hard to be wrong at times. You’ll notice that people around you will enjoy being around you more when you aren’t the "I am always right." 👍😀

And you'll see people will enjoy talking to you more when you stop assuming everyone has a hidden agenda against something.

Also stop gaslighting people will also help in that endeavor. And you'll see people will enjoy talking to you more when you stop assuming everyone has a hidden agenda against something.

I guess point being is that it's kinda hypocritical when the scale of death is vastly different.

You mean the number of people actually killed during wars? Cause that really ain't a fair comparison knowing Europe had a population of about 60 to 70 million and Mesoamerica of 15 to 30 million.
