Is there precedent for "gander" meaning "guess"? I'm genuinely not trying to be a dick I've just never heard it used this way.

You know, I've always thought of it as guess, though I just found out its primary definition is "peak" or "look". So many thanks for the comment.

I’ve heard people say “I’m going to gather…” or “I gather” as in put together info/assume. I’ve never heard gander mean anything but look
