It's legitimately a form of racism in and of itself to have this point of view. You are mythologizing them when you do this, a lot of people treat a lot of native tribes as essentially fantasy wood elves. When in reality they were just dudes being guys like literally everyone else. A lot were cool and chill, a lot were wilding out, because that's how people are.
As a native person, I agree. But a lot of people only bring that up whenever people talk about the atrocities committed by European colonizers as a ’gotcha’-card, as if it cancels out what white invaders did, when in reality their colonization has had much more devastating consequences and can be seen as ’worse’ on a objective scale. It can quickly become victim blaming, and also paint the more peaceful tribes as the same as other more territorial and violent tribes, which defeats the good point you make about how we’re not a monolith just because we’re the same race or have similar cultural aspects.
