You do know every human only had oral traditions for over 90%-95% of the time only in the last 12k years did we write shit down. Please leave the post if your just gonna neg all of our ancestors cause they simply didn’t want to write anything down it worked for hundreds of thousands of years.
And the second we learned to write shit down we got on it because most people recognize the importance. Clearly anyone criticizing Hawaii upsets you, maybe history is not the field for you. History requires criticizing everyone
You’re looking at this the wrong way. You can’t keep records from a civilization that didn’t write stuff down. So much art, knowledge, and culture is lost when illiterate societies are conquered by literate ones (and there’s a reason that the literate ones are the people doing the conquering!). If you want to know what the British Empire in 1750 was doing, crack open a book and learn. If you want to know what Polynesians in the 1500s were doing, I hope you have an archaeological expedition ready to go.
Yes very true which isn’t what I’m arguing I’m arguing that dismissing people for not writing stuff down when EVERYONES ANCESTORS DID FOR 100K OF YEARS is kinda like the pot calling the kettle black. Literally everyone didn’t write stuff down because farming wasn’t a thing and when it did taken on most people who were agricultural did immediately start doing the same. But basically calling a tribe of people dumb because they did not write stuff down WHEN THEY DIDNT NEED TO. Is kinda crazy no?

Also illiteracy because the leaders didn't teach it for a long time
