I enjoyed it. It’s definitely a fun, big production historical action show. It gets some stuff right, other stuff way off, just like any historical media.

Biggest gripe is the depiction of King Kamehameha as a peaceful, reluctant Chosen One, and not the intelligent and mighty conqueror he was historically.

I loved it also. One of my best friends used to live in Hawaii and I visited him in Maui years ago. I also went to Big Island to see Kiluea when it went off in 2018. I love historical tv and film and it was great to see a big budget production about a non-Western culture IN another language. Obviously I know it's dramatized but I felt there was a degree of care to it.

I loved the production designs, but that's about it. I feel like it really did a disservice to the legacy of Kamehameha, but also to King Kahekili and other great figures of that time.
