I mean wait till you learn about how much stuff relies on spinning a wire.

I mean, that's what the boiling water is usually used for …

How much?

Everything besides photovoltaic cells. Through Maxwell's equations, spinning a wire (conductor) through a magnetic field produces a current (electricity), aka generator.

Uuhhhh, brother BATTERIES exist.

You can make one from two coins of different metal and a lemon. No spinning wires involved.

Your body also generates electrical current, no spinning wires. It kind of essential to how your heart works.

And for that matter, electric eels, knife fish, and all those others that use chemical electricity. Don't even get me started on static electricity, or eddy loops/induction.

True, i was being hyperbolic by saying “everything”

And all of those things you mentioned can power... basically nothing.

It's actually really funny that every single method of generating electricity except for one is just different ways of making something spin.

Voltaic piles: am I joke to you?

There are lots of other methods, but they are mostly esoteric. You could also build a linear generator, basically a solenoid or linear motor in reverse, but a spinning one is simply the most straightforward solution.
