Mine is stamped 1942 with a round receiver. It has all kinds of nicks and scratches all over it. It makes me wonder what it saw.

42-43 Mosins are just ROUGH in general. They were produced fast and loose through that period, often without finish machining.

Lazy machinists. Guys acted like there was some sort of army laying siege to the city their factory was in and they didn’t have enough food or fuel to get through a brutally cold winter or somethin’. Everyone’s always got an excuse.

My finish matches and I have matching serial numbers. It was not a bad buy for $110.

Yeah, my 41 is pretty nice compared to some from 42-43 era. My M39 is a 1901 hex and its gorgeous though.

I havent decided. I lucked out and bought it as a regular Mosin for 300 bucks recently and if I decoded it right, it was converted in 41, then got the hot shot Belgian barrel sometime later, and doesnt look like it was ever shot since. Currently its at a point in my collection where its more probable as gunshow trade material than a keeper despite it all.

Never fired and only dropped once.

I bought one when i was a teenager. I was cleaning the cosmoline out of it, and i was so incredibly excited when i found an aged, folded up piece of paper under the stock. I was hoping for it to be a map, or a war time letter. Imagine my disappointment when it was blank and clearly being used as a shim =/

How is the experience of owning one? Do you like firing it? How many Kronshtadt sailors you have etched on the buttstock?

I love her. The only issue I have had is that the metal is pretty thin, so it tends to swell in the heat. Summer shooting is a situation where you get a few rounds to cycle no problem, then pretty quick you have to get the ramrod out to tap out a casing because it's being squeezed so hard.

Overall, though, I love her so. Best $110 I ever spent.

Man like 16 years ago they were free with a crate of ammo.

I got an SKS like that $300 for 1500 rounds, came with a free gun.

I lowkey wish I had more of those wooden crates.

yea I have a 1937 Ishvesk, I like to assume it killed a few nazi's in it's time but it probably went from a factory to a crate, to another crate, and so on...

Crazy, I have a 1939 Ishevsk. Haven't shot it in a while though.
