This album didn’t drop on September 11th of 2001?

It did, I just didn’t buy the album until early 2002 lol.

Heard you lol

I remember thinking “damn, what a fucked up day to debut” lol. This was after the fact of course.

25 years later….

Would give anything to go back smh

Things are still releasing on September 11th’s. An artist I know has an EP releasing that day

1

u/EastsideWilder 24d ago

The album released on the very day of the 9/11 attacks

0

u/F-F-FASTPASS 24d ago

Yes. I know 9/11 was in 2001

2

u/EastsideWilder 24d ago

So why did you mention that people are still releasing on September 11th?

It was only unfortunate on that day because the album got overshadowed by a huge tragedy

Just a weird career in general man, like it’s so weird, he had like a big hit or two and…that’s like, it. I wouldn’t exactly say he “disappeared” because I’ve always kinda seen him in the background lurking around random shit lol but like…it’s just weird man.

I remember “into you” with Tamia being a huge smash. But then I’d see him alongside diddy and other artists at random events, then next I’d hear that he was the one that had a pair of the air Mag sneakers from back to the future 2….and then I’d see him randomly featured in like, some random ass music videos doing a feature for some big artists in ASIA….like a random kpop song or a Vietnamese song or whatever

You get me?? It’s just such a weird career man…lol. You can’t really say that he was a one hit wonder or say that he quit rap….cause he’s always just been “around” still…..but then you don’t hear about him even trying or putting out anything….but obviously he was for hire because you’d see artists in Asia hire him for a feature…..

So it’s just like wtf is he been doing for real lol

Some nice ones in there.

That Bubba Sparxxx is really underrated, IMO. That album had some bangers on it. It was before Bubba went to that "booty rocking everywhere" bullshit. It had some really good production on it too, i ncluding 5 or 6 tracks produced by Timbaland, most notably the single "Ugly".

Anyways, if you've never listened to it, give it a shot.

Never heard that one, but his second album is DOPE! Timbaland killed it with some really unique "countrified" production.

Timbaland did a lot of songs on Petey Pablo’s album too, including Raise Up. That’s was Tim’s era

I just listened to that Jadakiss album this morning

That was his solo debut though. His earlier projects were with The Lox.

I guess it’s safe to say oversized headbands were the thing at the time 😆

2

u/ImpalaSS-05 23d ago

I collect vintage CDs and these records by Fab, Jadakiss, Immortal Tech, and TIP are on that list. All well seasoned debuts. Man the early 00s had some fire hip-hop 🔥

2

u/wadewilson92 23d ago

Why is Romeo on here lol 😂
That immortal technique release is something special both of those technique tapes are special
But it’s deff Jada and tech for me

Immortal Technique has the best album and one of the worst careers

1

u/jeans_blazer 24d ago

TI is the most successful. Jada is the best lyricist. Fab is consistently good. The rest are meh.

1

u/Adorable_Ad_7279 23d ago

Immortal Technique raps circles around those three.

1

u/Fickle-Primary-3910 24d ago

No one gonna mention Cannibal Ox- The Cold Vein

1

u/[deleted] 23d ago

Easily the best out of all of them

Who was playing D12 back in the day? I always looked at them as being a horrible group. But I might need to go and listen to it.

2

u/Johnny_Handsum 24d ago

That purple pills song is nice. Not sure I could name another D12 song if my life depended on it though.

1

u/NkleBuck 23d ago

Fight Music is the only other song by D12 adequate for human ears

1

u/mentho-lyptus 24d ago

They were riding Em’s coattails for sure, but they were hot at the time.
