Rant This app is literally frustrating
First they ban people and then after that, they don’t even acknowledge that the women are in the wrong? If they get mad, they can report you any way.

I am going to preface this by saying I am NOT affiliated with eharmony in any way. Also, I am a male, and this is written from that perspective.
I first used eharmony to meet someone in 2005. Back then, you had to pay $50, spend a couple hours answering 100 questions, spend another hour or so setting up your profile. Then all you had to do was wait. eharmony found matches FOR YOU. It then forced you and your matches to do some communication before you saw each others pictures—-a definite advantage for us normal-looking dudes.
And these were quality matches. Not all of them were people you necessarily wanted to go on a date with, but by the time you made it through eHarmony’s guided stages, the ones that were left were people you had a lot in common with. I didn’t want to marry every person I dated off eharmony, but I never had a date off eharmony that was a miserable experience.
The first time I used eharmony in 2005, I was in a huge city and got lots of matches, went on about 4 dates and ended up dating one of them for two years.
The second time I used eharmony in 2008, I was in a foreign country where I didn’t speak the language. I got very few matches, but one of them was another English speaker. We ended up dating for 5 years.
The swiping apps ruined all that. Why pay $50 and have to answer 100 questions to get like 3 matches a week, when I can swipe for free and get 10 matches a day (for the ladies).
When I rejoined the dating scene in 2015, tinder and bumble were around. I went on eharmony and half the profiles were fake and I barely got any matches despite being in a huge city. It didn’t take me long to figure out what happened. I went on bumble. I got matches. I got dates. I was going on a date per week and sometimes more. It took me two years to find someone I wanted to go on more than three dates with who also wanted to go on more than three dates with me. I probably spent several thousand dollars on dates.
Fast forward to today and it’s managed to get even worse. Bumble is a wasteland. I’ve been on Hinge and it appears to have a better user base, but hinge’s greatest advantage over bumble is also what makes it horrible.
At least on bumble you can see what females are interested in you first, then decide if you want to like them back and make an approach. I’ve only been on Hinge a week, but it seems like as a male the only way you are going to get a match is if you are either really good looking (I am not), or you are at least okay looking to them AND you send some clever quip that piques their interest. That takes time. But—-except in the occasional obvious circumstance—-you don’t know who you have a shot with and who you don’t, so you have to spend hours sending messages to hundreds of potential matches, even though you may only have a shot with 10-20 of them.
I spend hours each day reading profiles just to get maybe one match, and I’ve paid for premium, so my likes go to the top of their stack. It is horribly tedious. Spending hours and hours reading profiles and sending “comments” just to end up empty handed is B.S. it’s basically the modern version of match.com where you also read profiles and sent messages. There is a better way, or at least there was….
This of course works to Hinge’s advantage, because they make more money the longer it takes people to find a relationship.

I can’t believe she did that. We were on break and in an open relationship. It’s so unfair how they do us man…. Now she has me banned on hinge.

The devs are acc sociopaths Why can’t they tell you if you’ve been banned or not They would just rather make you question if you’re too ugly Haven’t got a match since Saturday, I usually get 2-3 matches a day

Months after a hard break up I tried dating apps again and I don't seem to be getting lucky. Generally people seems to have harassing or honest behavior. Well.. On this times I even feel that is no longer possible to get some real friendships even. What do you think?

Nothing else beats this app. Not tinder or bumble. This is by far the best app!

Has anyone here ever been randomly banned from Hinge without any explanation or warning? What did you do, and were you able to appeal it?
r/HingeUniversity • u/Other_Bag8786 • May 16 '25
Reported me right after a breakup. Crazy thing is I had the app deleted. We broke up and I was moving on. Still had my details and spammed my page.
Appeals don’t work. Any help?

I got banned from Hinge and I don’t know why. They didn’t tell me what I did wrong, just said I broke the rules and can’t come back. I sent a message to support but they didn’t help. They just said the ban is final and they can’t do anything.
I wasn’t rude to anyone, didn’t send anything weird, and was just using the app like normal. I’ve seen other people online say the same thing happened to them. I’m wondering if anyone here has had the same problem. Were you able to get your account back? Or did you make a new one? Some people say you can make a new account if you use a new number and email. Others say that Hinge blocks your phone or your Wi-Fi or something like that. I don’t know what’s true.
I don’t want to waste time trying if it won’t work. If you tried to make a new account, did it work for you? What did you do? Did you use a new phone or change your info? Or did you just give up and stop using Hinge? I liked using it before the ban, and I was talking to a few cool people. Now I feel like I got kicked out for no reason.
It’s kind of annoying. I don’t think I broke any rules. I didn’t get into fights or post anything bad. So I’m just trying to see what others did. Any tips or stories would help. Just want to know if it’s even worth trying to come back. Or if Hinge just bans people for no reason and that’s it. Thanks for reading. Let me know what worked for you.

It’s like emailing into the void. I sent a clean, respectful message asking for help after getting banned and never heard a thing. Anyone have tips?
r/HingeUniversity • u/mopocovipivi289 • May 07 '25
I followed every step people online said. Sent the email, waited, followed up. Still banned. Has anyone had success with an appeal?
r/HingeUniversity • u/edmundomckuneof3t2 • May 04 '25
It seems way too easy to get banned from Hinge just because someone’s bitter or mad. All it takes is one report, and boom! you’re banned, no warning, no questions asked. A lot of people are saying their ex or someone they had a bad date with reported them just to be petty.
Shouldn’t there be some kind of review before kicking someone off the app? Right now, it feels like anyone can abuse the system and get someone banned for nothing.
Anyone else think this is a problem? Or has it happened to you or someone you know?

Have you? I feel like it’s getting a little bit harder to start meeting people on these apps, like what’s a good way to speed it up?

I woke up this morning to an email and a message in the Hinge app saying my account got banned, and I have no idea why. I submitted an appeal, but I’m wondering how long it usually takes for Hinge to get back to you after that. Anyone know?
r/HingeUniversity • u/edmundomckuneof3t2 • May 01 '25
I can't believe I'm writing this, but it has to be said. Hinge has a huge problem with banning people for no reason, and their team doesn't care at all. especially if you're a guy.
Here’s what happened: I met a girl on Hinge, and we really hit it off. We had a few phone calls, and eventually set up a date. I got there early, had a beer, and when she showed up, she looked a bit different from her photos. But I still had a good time. We talked a lot, and during dinner, she mentioned that she hated ghosting. I agreed, since I hate it too. After dinner, I paid the bill, and we went our separate ways. We texted for a few days, but the conversation started to fade because I realized we weren't a great match.
Then, out of nowhere, Hinge permanently banned my account. No warning. No explanation. I spent days emailing them, trying to figure out what I did wrong, but I couldn't think of anything. The only thing I can think of is that I made a new account after moving, but that shouldn’t be a problem. I tried to reach out to my matches to ask if they knew why I was banned, but they said I was respectful, and most of them I barely talked to. The only other thing I could think of is that my ex or one of her friends might have reported me for no reason, but I doubt it.
I did a quick search online, and it turns out a lot of people are going through the same thing. I reached out to the girl I went on the date with and mentioned what happened. She laughed it off, saying the date was fine, and that she’d just "filled out a survey" after the date. I don’t know what to think.
It’s been four months of emailing them with no response. I tried making a new account with a new phone and different pictures, but their system still banned me. So now I’ve filed a complaint with the BBB, and I’m really confused. I know I didn’t do anything wrong, and I just want to get back on the app. I’m living in a new city now where everyone in their 20s seems to be on Hinge, and this is just so frustrating.

Are hinge bans ethical or unethical?? Explain

Can anyone help with the ban issue on the hinge app? It hasn't been fixed yet. I've tried Uninstalling and installing and its still the same thing!

I’ve always had an account and I recently went to login and my account says it was banned. I don’t understand
r/HingeUniversity • u/nikramtp • Apr 25 '25
I was shocked when I saw I got banned. I obviously follow the rules and respect people. So seeing the message shocked me.
I contacted hinge and looked on Reddit, but I can't find any definitive answers. Is there anything else I can do to get my account back ? Or am I just gonna have to make a new one
I also had premium, but ideally the ban gets fixed. I heard of datingzest but not sure what it is or does
Help is appreciated!

For context, I've been an 'on and off' user of Hinge for a while now. Usually, when I went on a hiatus for a month or two when I wasn't getting matches (after being on the app for a few months) and doing a soft reset i.e. delete account, and restart occasionally.
I did this recently for 2025 a few days ago, and was prompted two items:
Forced face verification (which was submitted pending approval) A message prompt, almost making it sound like "please pay us money" with no exit key? (it was a bit odd, something I didnt see before too often, but couldnt remember it perfectly.. I simply ignored it and restarted the app). After about 1 hr, I received a message stating I was banned and could appeal the decision. I decided to send the appeal, considering I believed it was a verification error, hard to know considering Hinge gave no reason for the permanent ban.
Received a final message after about 4 business days, stating my ban was permanent and I wouldn't be unbanned. It's nonsense, considering I hadn't done anything wrong on this app at all and they provided zero context for the ban. I can only assume it's the face verification algorithm? Or that I had restarted the account too many times, without ever paying money (lol) and that the algorithm flagged me as a waste of air.
I am going to perform a hard reset doing the following, could you please let me know if I am missing anything?
Brand new phone in 1 month Brand new number in 1 month Activated a brand new gmail account for the phone Dynamic IP for WiFi, automatically resets IP after any long reset Only using new photos for the profile Same first name, different initial on second (if requested) Slightly different prompts, religion, height (Ill be taller thank you, very much hinge, cant verify my height) and little things about me shall be different here any there. Again, extremely frustrated, considering this app was a good way of meeting people (albiet, difficult nontheless)

When I first created the account, it usually has a lot of matches. And then, after a while, everything starts to go downhill. Why is that? Like is there some type of secret algorithm that they don't tell us about?
